I was already planning to take singing lessons, but I still have a lot to learn. I'm sure this must be one of the strangest pieces of advice ever given.

@@Anxious_Andy That is good to hear. Because you have the ear. Alot of people fall into singing like kermit the frog. Especially when they are trying to sing opera (classical singing) with out any guidance. or without a proper guidance. And some people even stick with it and release albums with this voice style. But it usually sounds really awkward - Not everybody needs singing lessons, like Thom Yorke i don't think he ever took any. But he managed to sound great with any style he uses. I don't know - I'm just saying be aware if you take singing lessons, to not only focus on singing "right" also take care of developing your character, your personality. So you don't just end up sounding to generic like most schooled singers. I am talking from experience. "I'm sure this must be one of the strangest pieces of advice ever given". haha I am not surprised to hear that. But this is still a legit advice. There is nothing more awkward then for a singer to release an album and then he sounds like Kermit the frog.. But that sound is really common for beginners. But with a proper guidance it is not that hard to fix. I sung a bit like kermit the frog when I was singing opera or classical singing in singing lessons. Because I thought that is how you would apply your self while singing classic music.Then my teacher showed me how to get rid of that sound
