Point and click adventures. Particularly some of the classic ones where you have to click that one particular pixel. Trying to nail it with a thumbstick... kill me.
And so many claim the steam deck touchpads are completely useless or unnecessary. I use my touchpads fairly often, and when you NEED them, it's a lifesaver. I'll not be getting another handheld without them, if I can help it. I see another has touchpads, the Aya 2S I think it was? I hope this becomes industry standard
@@donniedarko4497 totally. God knows in an RTS like C&C where you need to click on infantry that are like 5x10 pixels, those trackpads are truly gamechangers
Love the buttload of ally videos. Definitely helps coping with having to wait another week to get my hands on one. To answer the question I absolutely love valorant but it simply does not have controller support. However I will still definitely be installing it on ally and playing it in docked mode.
@BluntyTV If you have the time I’d love to see a follow up on your situation. It has been on my mind each day since you reached out. If stuff has gotten worse it would be good to know how we can help you going forward. Always with
This is where I prefer the track pads and virtual menus for hotkeys better for games designed for keyboard and mouse. I don't like the stick as a mouse substitute. Most PC games designed are keyboard and mouse are usually not high demanding games so they will have no trouble running on the Deck. Ally is aimed more for triple A titles where you need more performance. Track pads are not need for consoles game ported to PC. One of the reasons I dislike playing games on the Switch like Xcom2 and Battle Brothers , it was more of a hassle using a controller.
@@BluntyTV Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle ( I like the game) environment was a lot more simple compared to Xcom. The game was clearly designed with a controller in mind.
Games: Civilization VI, Stellaris, Baldur's Gate 3, Pathfinder games, Cities Skylines, Transport Fever 2, Frostpunk.... so yeah, I have the Ally on pre-order but I do have no-mouse worries! I also ordered a bluetooth trackball mouse to compensate...
INSCRYPTION! I use SD trackpads and its awesome. Also RTS like company of heroes works well after some troubleshooting and configuration. I'll admit it takes effort to set them up correctly, but makes otherwise unplayable games, very playable
I pc game exclusively with a controller. The only mouse/keyboard game i play is Age of Empires 3 a game of my childhood. But games like System Shock 2 for example i played fully with controller using SteamInput and i love it.
I assume Asus still haven't got gyro working yet since you didn't mention it? Gyro is a good mouse substitute for FPS (flick stick) if a game allows both keyboard/ mouse and controller input. Some FPS doesn't allow this though IIRC like the Halo collection. Doom Eternal flick stick works well once you get used to it.
Clanfolk, a rimworld like game, does not play well on handheld PCs. Combination of controller not being ideal for it and the screen being too small for the already tiny text. It's a shame, but other than that game, I haven't had issues with any of my favourites.
I have a few Bluetooth keyboards and mice I can use in a pinch... hopefully there aren't any major connection issues... but I do plan to mainly play games with the built in controls so I don't have to also carry those around... I want to play kingdom hearts, ratchet and clank (when it comes out) (hopefully that runs ok), and various simple shooters and adventure games... thanks for the video though!
Sure, FPSes are a given for playing better with KB+M on PC, but I'd argue that TPSes (and TPS/RPG hybrids like Mass Effect) play better with KB+M as well!
It's a game by game call for Third person stuff for me, even ones that rely on shooter mechanics. No Man's Sky for example, better with controller, largely because while aiming is better with mouse, everything else is nicer with Controllers, especially flying.
The best console implementation of RTS controls with a controller I have played was - The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II. Certainly better controls than Halo Wars or Age of Empires. I wish more games at least improved on that rather than making an inferior interface. Surviving Mars is on Gamepass for anyone interested. Although not sure if that is in all countries as Microsoft website wasn’t very helpful giving a definitive answer.
Farlight 86 tried to play it on the steam deck last night it was horrible none of the controls work on the steam deck so put a controller on to much stuff on the game all the buttons did more then one thing so trying to shoot throws a grenade and shoots all in one button watched a RU-vid video on how to remapped a controller and for some reason when I would click on properties to go and remapped the controller, my controller was not popping up. Do you have any reason or know why it’s doing that??
You don't have the "remove the drive" for that champ. if you want linux you can just install it right on the preinstalled drive. In fact, you don't even have to leave windows behind. Dual-booting is pretty easy.
