Wonder how long until I stop getting teary eyed every time I watch a new video of the launch. I completely lost any semblance of my composure when they popped that fairing and started playing Bowie during the livestream.
Thanks for saying that. I thought I was the only one who got choked up over this stuff. I guess our species not dying out is important enough to shed some tears for.
Heh, glad I could help. I can't stand when people say things like "Why don't you solve the problems down here first". I compare it to being on fire while standing on the train tracks and you can hear a train in the distance. It'd be great to not be on fire but nicer to know you can take your time putting it out.
If you showed this video to anyone just a few years ago, they would swear up and down it was fake. Just seeing those boosters fall out of the sky is insane, and they aren't just falling, they are actually flying.
Oh man, thanks for taking me there. Still somewhere between choking up and complete ecstasy. Your enthusiasm is shared by the nation. Awesome clip guys.
Dude! We need more people with your flair covering these events. My God your enthusiasm was palpable. -- Your Brother in Flight here in Rocket City, Utah: Derek "Fryode" Peavey. --|>|--
Woah, I just found your vid and it's the best one yet! All these days later and I still welled up and got all watery eyed. That descent of the boosters gave me chills. What a sight!
This was just about as much as SpaceX or anyone could expect for a first flight. The center core didn't make it, but seeing the two side cores come down in unison and stock the landing is mindboggling. I wish I'd been there.
Glad you all were able to keep it kinda low key. 😜 Great video. Watched live feed from home. Haven’t gotten the Gilles like that watching a launch since the Saturn V days and the first STS flights. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
We didn't have as great a view as this from the visitor center, but I know exactly how you felt through the whole event. When those boosters were screaming back to the pad, I thought they were going to bury themselves in the ground. Just effing wow! Thanks for sharing! You have a new subscriber!
Even if we can't make the launch in person, both EJ and myself regularly do commentary for launch footage on our respective twitch streams... twitch.tv/ej_sa and twitch.tv/dasvaldez
Too bad :-( By the way your footage is by far the best I've seen and the enthousiasm of the people behind you is really communicative. Would be a moment in life you won't forget for sure ! Great job !
Thank you! I know we didn't get the best audio of the sonic booms, but honestly, the audio of excited people might actually be more important for space...
There's lots of places nearby. There's not too many places in Florida where you CAN"T see a launch but there's lots of little places to the sides of the back roads near there where you can see the tower. 6-7 miles is about as close as you can get. I've had nearly the same view for several Shuttle launches when I lived down there. When the sound hits from a Shuttle launch, you can't hear yourself yell. Night launches are the best.
Well written SpaceX kOS to land those 2 probes correctly in sync. The core rocket always vanish for me when I spend some time on doing something mad K like that.
EVERYONE: In a new tab open "The Launch" by James Horner, start that piece of music at exactly 4:50 then immediately start this video. Music at full volume and this at half and it will blow your mind. YOUR WELCOME
