We're back out again today with Venom my 20 year old Harris hawk. This time for a successful hunt and some lovely flying.
There are scenes of hunting (though not gory for those on the gentle side).

I'm glad your walk out wasn't in vain, Amy. Venom may not like rabbit, but he certainly earned his food by catching one for Fable. Thank you for showing how you put the rabbit to use - it's good to show folks who might not know that hunting isn't just blood lust and has a real purpose.

this was a perfect moment of slowing down and listening to the wind, just brilliant to see everybody work...I imagine the little chap growing up and going to school with a falcon and telling everybody "it is unwise to mess with this bird"...congrats on your big change to the country..

I got some sad news yesterday. So it was nice watching you, Alfie & Venom taking a hike out in that beautiful hillside setting. Took my mind off of things for a bit. Nice to see Fable as well. Thanks Amy & hope that all of you are doing well & staying safe.

Venom is a beautiful Harris hawk. Here in Arizona they are plentiful. Now and then we get to see them stack up on top of a cactus. I very much enjoy your videos.

Ahh, the natural way of hunting… before gunpowder. Falconry is older than guns. Plus you don’t have to worry about cleaning the shot from the kill. You only have to be fast enough to separate the raptor from it’s kill to get a pristine lunch. Not forgetting to have separate feed for the hawk. I once had lunch from falcon caught game. The catch was pristine.

What a handsome boy! For a long time, my plan when I grew up was to be a Harris' Hawk. I grew up in southern Arizona in Harris' Hawk range. I handled a captive Harris' Hawk for an educational program there, and have always been fascinated by these awesome birds.

He learned to hover like a kestrel just above you in very windy days on top of a hill just for a chick leg. I had similar experience, but it was with an Eurasian Eagle Owl. It walked up my arm, leant against me and shut its eyes.

WOW this entire video was so intensely interesting that time flew by and I wanted more! I never truely saw a human work together with a big bird to hunt before. I've been watching your channel off and on for a few months and I love it. Fable got me hooked but this everyday falconry and hawk hunting is amazing and hard not to appreciate how beautiful your bond with your birds are. I can't help but wonder how buff your left arm is tho haha! 🙃 you're doing amazing work.
