This falconry video discusses the Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle. Lauren Vartanian of the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary shares what it is like to actually work with a Wedge tailed eagle. Wedge tails are closely related to Golden eagles and Verreaux's eagles. They are the top avian predator of Australia.

He has. It's called Trapping Essentials. It's not on the market right now due to him doing revisions. With his stroke back in April, it's probably going to take time to get the updated version out.

unfortunately they are still persecuted, we had 2 cases in recent times where 400+ and 200+ wedgies were poisoned by farmers and govt dept in Victoria did absolutely nothing... it was an appalling disgrace...

I'm just wondering: where do people find the time for falconry? Don't they have jobs, families, etc? It's not like any regular hobby, which you can put on hold at any time. The birds need to fly every day! What does a typical day look like for a falconer?

Not a falconer.But the time you need for falconry depends on the bird.like goshawks are more aggressive,have a high prey drive so it's better to hunt every day with them.most falcons three days a week is enough But that's only during the hunting seasons.you can mostly live a regular life during that time

Falconry in my area is seasonal… a fall and winter sport. That lines up with hunting seasons and allows summer for the birds to molt new feathers in. But during the hunting season it does take a lot of time. Some species are more demanding than others. Some people get jobs and move to locations that are more conducive to falconry

@@gerbilgeneproject Well I know Australia is very strict where it’s wildlife is concerned. You can’t keep non native species and I’m sure they’re native birds of prey are protected by law as are most of their native wildlife.
