I think that brown linen “dress” looks like maybe it was made as a costume for a Christmas play? Maybe that was Joseph’s outfit in a Nativity play at someone’s Church. That’s what it reminded me of anyway. Love your Channel ☺️

Here's a cool suggestion Kristen, you could upcycle it by making it into a table runner and sew crochet lace on the edges of it OR turn it into napkins and tie crochet lace around it for your Fall dining room table scape. I love that you talk about your budget because my husband and I are also on a small budget and I absolutely relate to thrifting and thinking something that is $10-15 is too much. I love finding good deals at thrift stores lol something about getting something second hand for super cheap is very satisfying and makes me appreciate the item more

You are so right about goodwill prices. I can find things for the same price at the retail stores with markdowns and money off. Sad that the goodwill prices still rising and they took away the senior discount along with tag color discount.

You are so lovely and are the epitome of the expression “she would look good in a burlap sack!” There’s probably enough fabric in it to make a fall table runner from it. My first thought when I saw your vintage wooden clothes pins was they would make a neat wreath. Use a metal wreath form or glue them tightly around two wooden embroidery hoops. - one larger than the other. There’s a simple beauty in using one element like that. I also like your idea of putting them into an old glass jar. Maybe tie a strip of the brown linen garment around its neck or make a bow from it to use on the clothes pin wreath. Oh, such fun options!

The linen tunic conundrum had me chuckling. It could work as a costume as you were saying....I'd say it's an extra rustic version of California cool, crunchy, minimalistic style...I wish I could attach a pic of what I'm talking about! :)

I agree with your comment about goodwill prices. They would make more money and sell more items if they would not be so greedy. Makes sense to me.

Cute video - The planter pot is tarnishing an interesting color. Plant a fall flower, such as a mum and see what happens to the coloring. For the silly dress, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter your age group, that isn't a good look hence why it is at Goodwill. No worries, lots of suggestions how to deconstruct it and make it a useful item. I'm thinking its a good purchase for the fabric alone.

I agree I think the linen dress was either made for a costume pageant or someone trying to sew a linen tunic dress but didn’t quite make it. It’s great material though and I think the ties for your wreaths would be perfect. You could first use it for a costume first. Or if you sew or know someone who could make it into linen towels or even pillow case covers. It’s a great piece. The old clothespins are awesome. Yes definitely could use some for cloth pin dolls. 😊

I’ve been looking for a small round glass table for my breakfast nook and found one in a consignment shop for $3000. This was the price for the table only. Needless to say, it’s still at the consignment shop!

YES YES to a pop up shop. When you shop/ thrift with us I find myself yelling at the video , when you pass by things on my list. I'm hunting for a copper stock pot for cooking soup and I never can find copper in my area.

I agree with you about Goodwill!! It is ridiculous... they are getting these items for free and then they up their prices to match Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, TJ Max etc. I tend to shop local thrift stores vs Goodwill now.

You are too cute. I am a follower of Sarah's October Home. In fact that might be why I found you. I do love her thrift hauls and her unique style of decorating. OK, just a couple of things. You could paint that brass-look planter to match your style or you could use it through the Thanksgiving decorating season as is. When compiled with the other collectibles for the season you could use it as a risor by turning it over so the open end is laying flat. If you can think about the Christmas season, you could place a Christmas tree inside surrounded by your favorite Christmas collectibles. I love a multi height display. Also the brown linen dress could be spread around the base of the planter in a scrunchy look for a different idea. Finally, a scarecrow for Halloween by adding a straw hat. Anyway, hope you will show us your final thoughts.

If you’re a sack of potatoes, you’re the cutest sack of potatoes 😂 girl, use it for ribbon or maybe if you’re handy, repurpose it into a cute little dress for one of your girls!

That embroidered piece with the owls is so cute. The brand, Erica Wilson, is a very good one and uses quality materials. It would make a sweet pillow. The brown linen can be used for so many things besides clothing.. It just needs the sleeve and bottom hems finished. Wear it with a cool belt for a closer fit. Or cut, or tear, it up for other uses.

If you start line drying your sheets you will never go back. When my mother in law was ill I went over and got her bedding. Brought it home, laundered it, dried it on the line, and made her bed up. That evening I called her to check on her. I asked her how her evening was going and she said "I went to bed early just so I could lay here and smell my sheets". I'm the grandma now and I do the same thing.

I could go on and on on how Goodwill can sometimes be super greedy with prices. For example, I was looking for a cheap walker there for one of my patients (work in physical therapy) and the one I found was 75$ at Goodwill. I was astounded. This was a used walker that was even a little beat up looking. You can get them new for that price or cheaper. I was so irritated that I asked to talk to a manager about how they price items. “We sometimes just look up an item on the internet to see how much we could get for it” was the answer. I have been turned off by Goodwill ever since that experience especially since I’m assuming everything there is a DONATED item and also for something like a walker someone probably HAS to have it to walk safely. It’s not a luxury item. End rant 😅 thanks for the video! I do love all of your Goodwill finds even though the company itself can be greedy/inconsistent.

The sack dress can be used for cleaning the house. 😊 The Levi’s were a steal! Those things are like $40 new! I don’t hate the plant pot thingy. You could always spray paint it. I actually kinda like it as is.

My grandmother would paint those clothespins as different people and I would make families with them when I was little. Instead of paper dolls I had clothespin people.

Goodwill prices are ridiculous but the bins are fun and inexpensive. I have found a few high priced pieces and some collectibles. Michael Kors new zippered wallet, brand new high-end backpack, and the fun of people watching. Haven't tried digging thru the clothes yet.

A really good and in places amusing video! :) The "brass" planter would look good painted white? It has nice detailing in the shape that would show up subtly. And the clothes pegs could be stored in a large, vintage-style glass jar? I'd be tempted to display half that way and keep the other bag tucked away for replacement pegs as I know these can break here and there. Some great finds! If the linen dress is really nice material then a seamstress could get that into shape really easily. It could be trimmed into a really classy dress that could be worn with a belt and jacket for special occasions. I guess it depends on how much you like the material and how much seamstresses are too these days!

Kristen, you could turn the brown dress into a light summer dress and put a nice brown leather belt around it. You could either roll up the sleeves or remove them. The little boots are adorable too. And the pegs will look fabulous in a jar too.😀

About that brown, linen dress. My dad would say, “What did you do with the potatoes that came in that sack?” But it is beautiful fabric. Maybe a pillow or a table runner.

Hold onto the clothespins. The spring clip pins look old. The only ones made in USA are by tiny companies and quite pricy. A clothesline would really help your power bill. We are 74 and 80 and hang out nearly everything. Lol don't let our ages fool you my 80 yr old DH still works. Using a clothesline is great exercise. Lots of lifting, bending and stretching. Plus the laundry smells so good when it comes in. I am glad you rescued the pins..

I love the scare crow idea! That dress is super cute actually haha. Also that pot has a beautiful shape and it might be pretty spray painted an antique white? But also it might get prettier if it’s just left outside in the elements and gets some corrosion on it! All the stuff you picked up is so pretty tho!

I say finish the sleeves and hem and wear that suckered ! Love the color and I think it would be cute , you don't have to wear it out to dinner but it's cute.

Two thoughts about the dress. Belt it, wear black tights and lug sole black shoes/ black boots, and wear a cute cropped jacket that is a little more fitted and feminine. The contrast would be cool….and two pieces contemporary simple gold jewelry….a wide cuff bracelet and some simple earrings If you use the dress for fabric it would make a great table runner to use with fall decor. That white item at 10:50 with the lace on it--that's tatting, or tiny hand tied lace. Took many hours to make. I always buy tatting if it's in good shape!

You could tuck the dress around the base of a small Christmas tree to use as a tree skirt. I'm also thinking small Christmas tree to put in the fake brass container, but maybe spray paint it black first.

I found a scarf and my Goodwill wanted 12.99 for it!! No thanks. The Goodwills here are getting too expensive for people on set incomes or resellers. The one closest to my house looks like it is closing, bare shelves….or no donations coming in. I follow Sarah

The linen dress would be an awesome costume - there's an old I love Lucy episode wearing potato sack dress they thought were designer -reminded me of the linen. There's lots of holiday type crafts can do with the clothes puns. Would look cool in displaying in glass jar.

I loved the 'show and tell' your girls gave the trinket box (?) and 'typewriter'. Too cute ! $25 for that tablecloth was ridiculous. Australian op shops can be expensive too, esp Vinnies which has lots of stores (used to be St Vincent de Paul, run by Catholic church). Love your videos xx

Bar keepers friend would polish up that brass tray. You may have to respray it with acrylic afterwards or just polish it regularly. It would looks great on an old vanity table holding a brush and comb.
