Come along for a day of fall homemaking as I try to get in the fall mood when it doesn’t feel like fall. As a frugal low income family of five. Homemaking on a budget!
Recipes:
Apple pie: • The Best Apple Pie Rec...
Pumpkin pie Pullman loaf: (I always double the recipe to make two loafs)
1 cup pumpkin purée
1 cup warm milk
1 tablespoons instant yeast
*2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
2 eggs
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon salt
4 cups all purpose flour
(Recipe can be used with regular baking pan or Pullman pan)
For swirl Pullman loaf :
If you want the swirl in the middle roll dough flat then spread butter , brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. Roll and pinch dough together. Let rise in pan until doubled in size or 1/2 inch away from Pullman lid.
Directions:
Let rise in a warm spot in a large bowl until it doubled in size. Roll out dough flat and roll up into a large roll pinch the sides together. Place in Pullman pan with lid on it. Let rise until it is a 1/2 inch away from the lid of the pan. Bake @375 for about 35 mins or golden brown. Let cool completely then slice. Enjoy.

Hi Noelle, I am loving these sweet visits with you and your sweet family. My children are adults now, no grands yet, but I wish I had had someone like you in my life when I was a young mother. I love making food from scratch and fell in love with sourdough baking during the pandemic. I appreciate your methods for dealing with material fluctuation hahaha- There is so much love, though. My husband saw me watching you and he says, you look like one of my dearest dears who has moved on to the next world. You do remind me of her. Her name is Tracey and I like to think she sent your channel to me. I have that same mixer, which I was gifted when a friend of my aunt's moved out of the country, Blessed.

Hi! New subscriber. I completely understand what you mean about season changes. I’m from south Florida born and raised and we have just the one season… hot. So I do my best to decorate and still do all the fall things just all in doors. I’m sure it’s not the same but we do our best to feel the fall season! The kids and I make fall crafts and bake. But I feel you, I can only imagine how much more the fall mood would be if it were cold and crisp. Side note sometimes I lower the AC for a little bit just to wear a sweater. Then immediately turn it back up because the bill is real. Love the channel you are doing awesome!

I hope you find what works for you during the seasonal blues. I have heard a number of my friends and family state that they have been feeling down this season. Vitamin D3 and B vitamins can be helpful. I really like your content, thank you for sharing some realness. "Poverty looks different for everyone" - love that line.

I usually don't have trouble transitioning between seasons, but I'm always ready for summer to be over. I start to slowly decorate around mid August. It is harder when the temperature is high, but I kind of do what you showed: inundate myself with fall flavors. Candles help too! Apple picking is a must for fall activities, along with pumpkin harvesting. You have an adorable family, blessings to you!

Transition into the next season use to be easy for me. I think these last few years it has been extra hot and took so long to finally cool down. I need to get more candles for this season love to have candles going all fall and winter. Apple picking and the pumpkin patch are great cheap activities. We look forward to them all year. I have a cast iron griddle. One side is flat and the other side is a grill (makes the grill marks). I did like it, but kids are grown now and I don’t use it now.

Hey Noelle, Alcohol does get in the breast milk, how long it takes to be metabolised depends on how much and how strong (and also on your own metabolism, so it's hard to give exact numbers). For this reason, the general advice is to wait about 2 hours after drinking a single dose of alcohol (like one average beer). Personally, being a worrywart, I'm teetotal until baby is weaned, which is also better for my health anyway 😅

I love your content! 💕 I just wanted to bring up the topic of using the Haakaa for breastmilk. My midwife always advised me that the milk that drips into the Haakaa isn't the rich, nutrient-dense milk that babies get while actively breastfeeding. She suggested that this milk might not be ideal for feeding a baby, as it's not as nutritious as the 'hindmilk' they typically receive. Instead, she recommended using it for things like bathwater or to help disinfect wounds. Have you ever heard anything about that?

Nope I get a lot of hind milk in my milk from the haaka it depends how you use it I use it all though out the day and mix it together in one pitcher for maximum nutrients.

I don’t really have any tips on budget friendly sustainable fashion if it’s made sustainable it’s expensive. Now I think it’s worth it if you can save for it because the pieces last for many years. I invested over the years and would save money and buy a piece here and there to create a capsule wardrobe when my husband was working full time. Thank you for watching. Its suppose to be safe and not go to the baby but that makes no sense because when i was breastfeeding my now 6 yesr old i had to go to er for chest pain i had inflammation of sternum and they gave morphine and i told my daughters doctor and she said we needed to pump and dump for 12 hours. When ypu have c section you can breast feed even if you have spinal so medical stuff is tricky. I would ask doctor

I hear you on the mixer size - I can't bring myself to spend the money for a larger mixer when the old one works just fine (those larger Kitchen Aides or the Bosch mixers are EXPENSIVE). I did invest in a second mixing bowl and sometimes just do an separate batch in each bowl so I don't lose half the ingredients flying across the kitchen 😅

@noellecasey I remember when I had my boys which are ten years apart, I had to take time for myself everyday. It really helped me mentally and emotionally. As moms, we put so much on our brains especially when the kids are younger. Maybe you and hubby needs to do date night away from home. I had a good friend that helped me so much. Think about it, your kids are with you 24/7. You really don't have time for yourself. This is just a suggestion to help you sweetheart....... you are such a sweet person with such a calming voice...

My dress is from a Canadian designer name Gillian stevens that’s the name of her brand too. She has great quality clothing. This exact dress is from two years ago not available. She may have something similar. Her clothing is definitely pricey but worth it. All natural materials. I have many pieces from her that were worth the investment over the years. The vest was thrifted.

I’ve heard so many things about drinking while breastfeeding. One nurse told me “if you can find your baby, you can feed your baby.” Lol I don’t think a beer or glass of wine would do much at all.

I have heard that too! Yeah beer and wine aren’t heavy alcohol. I just get to anxious that I’m going to harm the baby so I don’t have more than a few sips maybe. I really am not a drinker anyway.
