As a young man touring Europe, Luthier Arnie Anderson's life took an unexpected detour when the Six Day War of 1967 changed his original travel plans from Israel to Cremona, Italy, the home of famed violin maker Antonio Stradivari. There, Arnie fell in love with the art of violin-making. Anderson returned to the US as an accomplished craftsman, building and selling instruments across Minnesota and beyond.

My sister and her husband live near Arnie. One summer he and his brothers and some grandsons rode around their lake on my sister's pontoon boat and put on a floating concert. The cabin dwellers stood all along the shore to listen. Some danced. I wish I would have been there.

Truly, a wonderful man doing a wonderful thing with music and kids. I'm so glad, that my daughter Alee is one of Arnie's students. What a privilege it is for her to study under such a gifted musician and luthier. It's so strange now, to think that 2 years ago, I almost dismissed the idea, because I thought she was too restless and hyperactive. But, to hear her play now, as well as she does, well, I can only attribute that to Arnie's patience and giftedness as a teacher. This video brought tears to my eyes...You are truly in your God-appointed niche. Hats off to you Arnie, and God bless you richly.

He is so making violin artisan I guess, I pray his skill wouldn't be a lost technology in the future. 彼はとても素晴らしい職人です。彼の技術が、ロストテクノロジーとならないよう、祈っています。

Yeah I thought about making violins when I retired. In fact I bought and did my own white violin. I bought a Polish made Guenary del Gesu, made by a Master maker. Stained it, varnished it, did the pegs, chin rest tail piece. Put in my own sound post. And am currently learning to play the violin. But if you want to do this even as a hobby, you better start buying the tools and equipment way before. Or be independently wealthy. By the way my violin is beautiful and sound great.

No offense, but I'm glad to see him teaching/playing folk music. I've played both classical & folk & I have to say...folk music is a LOT of fun...getting together & jamming & getting in touch w/ your heritage. So many really awesome tunes!

You can order kits through International Violin and build your own or buy what they call white Cello and stain it, varnish it, turn your own pegs, ream the peg holes, put on your tail piece, end plug, bridge, strings and sound post.
