As much as I love Panic at the Disco and Brendon Urie, but more people need to appreciate the vocal genius that is Patrick Stump.

I have a love/hate relationship with FOB reactions. I love watching you enjoy the music, but I feel like the genius of their lyrics get lost in the "first time" listen. If you like clever lyrics, I highly recommend listening a couple times and really paying attention to the words because there are some amazing double entendres and word play that are easily missed. I've been listening to them since day 1, and once in a while I still pick up something I've missed all these years.

this album is so damn good .. it’s really the start of patrick really trying with his voice and he’s only gotten better. i think my fave fob record of all time is still folie a deux but this is a close second😩also the two bonus tracks on the deluxe are great too!!!

I already commented on your community poll but IOH is easily one of my top 10 fav records of all time, admittedly a lot of that is probably nostalgia but objectively this entire album still holds up incredibly well. You should absolutely check out Folie a Deux next, both that and IOH are fall out boys best records imo.

Glad you enjoyed this one! It's pretty much a great mix of Cork Tree and the next record, "Folie a Deux" (2008). As others have said, Folie is great. It's musically their strongest and most soulful album yet. It amps up everything they did on "Infinity" to crazy levels, so you might get a lil worn out again haha. But it's so good and funky and peak Fall Out Boy imo. Just a great combination of everything that makes them so fantastic and unique! Patrick's voice is out of this world and Pete's lyrics are in top form.

Got to be one of my favorite albums. The (After) Life of the Party was a song I was so hooked on, along with so many others that don't get much love (Can't lie, I always skip Golden...) Seeing others find joy in this album even YEARS later, it's fun. I don't see it as something to get tired over, as typically I get very hype, speakers blasting. The louder, the better, I recommend that for you! Cool review :)

A letter that Patrick wrote explained that he was unhappy with FUTCT receiving a Grammy nomination, because he did not believe that if FUTCT won, that it would even deserve it. After realizing that he was holding himself back musically, he decided to write music that he COULD be proud of; and thus was the creation of IOH. The change in style did lead fans of their previous two albums to accuse them of "selling out", even though this album was the first time Patrick was truly trying to be authentic with his music. It's sad, the backlash of FáD and his solo album got truly hurt him, I wonder how FOB would have evolved if fans hadn't been so resistant to change and growth, only caring about wanting another TTTYG or FUTCT.

Thank you for giving this album the flowers it deserves. This was on repeat back in middle school/high school.

If you like their music then you HAVE to see them live! Patrick sounds as incredible live as he does on the album it's CRAZY how incredible they are! Definitely one of the best performances you can see!

Worth mentioning: the opening track on Fall Out Boy's "From Under the Cork Tree" album was called "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued", a fairly standard jokey title like a lot of their songs that has nothing to do with the lyrics. But this album, the follow up, uses "Thriller". Which means their lawyer, this time, did NOT make them change the name of the opening song so they wouldn't get sued (by Michael Jackson). A nice lee'l follow-up joke, but which also has nothing to do with the lyrical content of the song. GET IT? DO YOU GET IT? HUH?
