Fall time striped bass fishing is some of the most fun fishing you can have. This video I'm out on my kayak trolling for striped bass comparing jighwads with soft plastic trailers to hard plastic cranking lures. I always start my striped bass trips out with both lures on to see which one they strike the most frequent. Hope you enjoy!

Best of luck this fall. The jacket is an Eddie Bauer rain jacket. It's really light weight and I use it when the water isn't too cold. When the water gets cold I switch to a dry suit.

I use YakAttack Zooka II. They are by far my favorite. I've tried many other holders for trolling.

Nice comparison. I've always done well with soft plastics. If I see good marks, I'll stop and jig the same soft plastic on top of them. Have you ever tried running tandem soft plastics? You can often catch 2 at a time. I haven't trolled for rockfish in a while. Your videos have convinced me to get back out there and try.

First, love your videos. It would be great to fish together some time. Thanks! Lots of people have great success with tandems I just not one of them. I have run tandem many times but i usually catch less fish than if I single it up.

That is a great suggestion, unfortunately youtube limits your video length to less the 200 hours or I would.

Thanks for watching. Yeah, earlier in the morning the hard plastic lures caught all the fish and when the sun came up the soft plastic caught more.

This day I was letting out 75 ft for the soft plastic and 100 ft for the deep diver.

@@CurrentJAM I have a standard cast for lures. Then i let out line at 3 mph (17 ft/sec). I verify by reeling in the lure. My reel pulls 37” per turn. I count the turns and know how much I let out. I adjust from there if necessary.
