The Fall transition is finally here and that means big bass are moving shallow to feed up for the winter. The beginning can be kinda rough but fishing only gets better from here on out. It's a great time to jump in the kayak and chase shallow water bass on Bull Shoals lake.

Oops! I meant the Smallmouth min is 15". I have a mark on my pole that measures 15.5" so that I don't make a mistake. Thanks to the guys that pointed out my error!

For the love of all what in the world is wrong with catching and eating something God himself created and ate. Would yall rather there be an over population and them just starve to death. Why is it so hard to understand? Everyone knows why The Lord made animals on land and water and air. And all of them for humans and other animals to eat. If it bothers you to see a fish put on a stringer the way God intended it then damn stop watching. Go on to one of the other millions of videos. Believe me you won't be missed here.

Great catches! I've never caught a smallmouth bass before, just largemouth bass (which I love). But I've caught a red fish (42in). Mean fight! I need to expand my horizons. And venture to lakes north of Texas. Do you use drop shots a lot?
@PoleBenderFishing
@PoleBenderFishing Год назад
Red drum is my second love. No, I don't use a drop shot rig much at all.

Nice bass!! That big one was a jumper WOW!! Maybe try a small swivel on your hook/line to keep your bait from sliding down into the hook gap . Thread the swivel on your line before you tie to your hook. Nose hook the bait. Before you hook the middle part of the bait, put the tip of the hook through the other end of the swivel, then finish hooking the bait. That's a Roland Martin tip.👍 Google swivel Texas rigged worm . Or after rigging just poke the end of a toothpick through the worm and hook eye and snip it off , I find that works 😃👍 Thanks for the fun fishing show!!

Thanks Cup I'll look at it. That was the first time a fish has thrown my bait so far up the line.

Well you're gonna have a lot of fellow fishermen. That place gets hit pretty hard by the locals but it does hold lots of fish... So fish on!

Beautiful smallies, bet they taste good out of that clear lake. For ticks use a permethrin spray either sawyers or repel brand. Spray your clothes and let them completely dry, works for 30 days even after washing.
@PoleBenderFishing
@PoleBenderFishing Год назад
Thanks! Yes, they do. I've tried sawyers and it works OK on the big ticks but the seed ticks just keep on coming.

Fresh Sweet basil rubbed all over works great ,if you're growing a bunch of it, cause sometimes I use it everyday,no mosquitoes either , or any bugs really 😃😆 makes a great Catfish Lasagna too😋
@PoleBenderFishing
@PoleBenderFishing Год назад
@Cup Huh, I gotta try that for mosquitos. I grow tons of basil but there's also a bunch of wild basil that grows all over the property. Wonder if the wild stuff would work to...

I wonder how "bass" got the reputation as being a mythical creature. Given the availability of other fish I will skip the bass, but not being a "fish eating snob" I'll gladly eat them. Nice fish, hope they taste as good as they look.😮
@PoleBenderFishing

Probably the tournament guys. Personally, I like the firm white meat. It has a bit of a sweet nutty flavor but I'm sure the taste changes with the body of water. I was shocked when I learned that they eat shad in FL. 🤣🤣
@GaryJohnson-ee2nn
@GaryJohnson-ee2nn Год назад
Dont be too amazed. I think shad and herring are in the same family - being half Norwegian and a quarter Polish Russian Jew, and a quarter Sicilian, i might be willing to try and pickle them. Same with Skipjack Herring. .

I like White bass and stripers as well as anything - of course i like the flavor of fish, if i want my fish to taste like chicken nuggets, then.......

@@GaryJohnson-ee2nn Hi there. I told Dallas this story about how fifty years or so ago. I had caught 72 silverfish in reedbeds, with my five yard bamboo whip pole. A neighbour called Omer asked if I had been lucky and I told him. We had chickens and I cooked the fish and fed them to the flock. BUT... Omer had asked if I could bring him my next catch... What I did, (well over 100) and he pickled them and like a week later he gave me a jar. They indeed tasted quite nice. (Back in those days there was no limit on those minnows/bleak/silverfish)

Hey I'm wondering if you've ever used Sea Foam or equivalent in your boat engine. Thinking mine is needing some cleaning. I'm having a hard time getting over 3k rpm and then it'll take off and bog back down again.
@raymondsimpson7433
@raymondsimpson7433 Год назад
@PoleBenderFishing I have used sea foam to winterize my motor when I'm not gonna use it for a long time. You can try it. But it sounds like you need to clean your carbs out, mainly the jets. It's not hard. And make sure you don't have any water in your gas.
@PoleBenderFishing
@PoleBenderFishing Год назад
@@raymondsimpson7433 Lol I've run so much gas through her lately that I'm pretty sure it's not water in the gas. 🤣 Thank you for the tip!
@raymondsimpson7433
@raymondsimpson7433 Год назад
@PoleBenderFishing when I use it I mix the gas in a one gallon gas can and mix the whole bottle with it, and run it till it's empty
