I wanted to make a hardwood mallet that was a beginner friendly woodworking project. I came up with this simple three piece design for a wooden mallet. Mallets are a must have woodworking tool because you will use it all of the time on your wood projects. It's easy to make and looks great! Matt!!!! Health issue...when cutting Wenge wood, I have heard it can potentially cause some respiratory problems if you breath in the saw dust from it... Maybe check into that more please... Just something I have heard from other channels.

For hand sanding rounded contours like the finger grooves, get some oak dowels and wrap them in a strip of sandpaper and use them like a file. You can tape the ends of the paper around a chunk of dowel to help it stay in place.

Great job on the video showing some different ways to accomplish the same goal. No matter what tools you have (or don’t have) this is a project that just about everyone can make. I love how you showed your process for roughing something out - take a tool that you love, and base the design off of that. Sweet! Very well done!

Awesome video, and wonderful tribute. My thanks goes out to everyone who protects our safety, freedom and way of life. I served in the Air Force for 20 years with no regrets. Of the many people over the years that have thanked me for my service, many police officers have thanked me as well. I have always believed that regardless if an officer served in the military or not, they deserve my thanks as well as everyone else. It takes a special kind of person who would put their life on the line for others. I think of law enforcement as my brothers and sisters in arms. The military’s role is to protect from abroad, police protect at home. Thank you brother!!

Beautiful Work! If you buy one of Matt's mallets, keep it away from the kids. They will use it to drive tent stakes, nails, work on their bikes, etc. That's what I did with my father's mallet wHen I was a kid!. Matt, you might also want to expand into gavels for meetings and courts, and meat tenderizer hammers for the chefs out there. I have a friend who was a former NYC undercover drug enforcement cop. The stories he tells! He did it for years and is now retired. I don't know how he did it.

Just an FYI to anybody who sees this and wants to buy the RZ mask. I usually use Milwaukee disposable masks from Home Depot and I have had great luck with them after using at least four or five others of variant cost so I figured I’d take a fly on this mask, but one of the condensation vents fell off within 15 minutes of using it. Of course, when I went to Amazon to return it, it’s not returnable. I tried chatting with them but the bots just kept telling it wasn’t returnable and there’s no bricks and Mortar store that makes these so looks like I’m stuck with it. Just be forewarned.
