My experience of Adya is that he doesn't have a dogma of any kind. In fact he has said many times that he was a failure as a Zen Buddhist. And in being so-- woke up to the "truth". He talks from experience and a deep, deep and constant questioning of everything (his beliefs, cultural beliefs, experiences, traditions, etc). I have heard him reference many teachers including Ramana Maharshi, Jesus, Nisardadatta, and Rumi and more while also encouraging all to "see for yourself"(his core teaching)

That's exactly it. The moment you experience it, you feel an amazing high; "Yes, this is it!" But the high can never last because it comes from mixing the truth with your own mental projections, hopes and expectations, which are all things that have a certain neediness or desperate quality behind them. Anything you try to sustain will feel painful because it's unnatural. You want peace after all, not more searching and striving. You can never lose reality, so don't worry about it. You're fine!

I would say some teachers may call everything 'perfect' because by seeing things as they are, everything could very well feel perfect. But of course telling someone that will cause them to imagine how perfection must feel and then their mind gets in the way.

@NYCw66 I can say with all sincerity that I have experienced a small awakening and it has been absolutely life changing. An internal wisdom has arisen in me, problems have lost much their power and significance, and my desires and craving for materialistic success have been fading. Don't we wonder where all of our unease comes from? That quiet restless feeling that drives us to seek short lived pleasures? It's because we have forgotten what we are. We are God, essence, spirit, and eternal.

right on. there is Truth, Beauty, Good, Perfection, Being. the Thruth beyond true and false. Perfect with a capital P. perfect with a lowercase only arises with imperfection. both arise in the Perfection of Is.

It just dawned on me why morality is so contraproductive, the whole cycle of this natural feeling/thought is bad, you shouldn't feel that/think that do that, because you feel bad because you did, this feelings produces pain/anger/frustration, because you feel those you will do something bad, therefore you should feel bad, rinse and repeat. I have been in this cycle my whole life.

Sometimes i get get a strong feeling of joy/peace from nature. But it can be so strong it is in some way painful. it is excruciatingly strong and can somehow be painful (wirth the bliss). Does anyone else experience this? I guess it is painful because you know you cant maintain the feeling, and you go back to mundane state of mind.

indeed. Adyashanti is great at "pointing out" the effortless natual state, which can be misleading to beginners (who can mistaken that presence for their ego's. "Its me!" we might say. no, it's that in you which is aware of you. do you like Ken Wilber?

My thoughts of Buddhist scripture is that I wrote it a laid it around reality to remind me that I'm Not deluded, to protect me from getting irretrievably lost in reality, my own dream that I create. Which means the only reason I'm still here is that I don't want it to end yet... for some reason! Because I think I've forgotten how to get out! Help me me! That only leaves me wondering if I created me, if God created me or if I'm God, and if I am, what am I doing here anyway?

@Countrychiddler yes, so, God is still part of it and not separate from anything. THINGS may not appear perfect to our judgmental mind but when one goes beyond mind things may appear differently.

@Cashify Gotcha. Because I can be awake seeing my body inseparable from the universe but at the same time feel like there is a 'me' as the 'ego'. it is like two identities, an ultimate seer AND a person i am controlling.

damn...i feel the reality of reality now...well, i see that everything just...no mental projection. Now i feel upset because everything is real, and i know that the people i love and live with have the thickest egos you will ever see. Nothing is real for them....now to the next stage...oneness with everything, and shaking of whats left of the ego i have....shit.

You just could be right! You know, right now, that reflects how I'm feeling. Actually, I'm thinking like I suck. Maybe it is all one? My thought is everything is one, there is no other one but this one, there is no Buddha and no enlightenment to be separate from.

The fact there is one truth does not mean it has to be the same from one place to the next. In fact, if there was, there would always be nothing. We need difference to know we exist. Although I do tend to think if I saw the real truth, I would see that I have created everything from my mind.

Don't know how to relate to people socially without some impression of character, so I wear one. If communicated as light as thought could be in equanimity guess it would sound stoned. A lot of people want you to boost their ego with their ideas so you just play along to humor them otherwise they might get upset.

Yes, everything is meaningless, but instead redefine meaning as desire. Or going with the flow. Nothing is truly meaningful just like nothing is truly dual, but if you want fulfillment, it is the fulfillment of desire, or the fulfillment of rightness i.e going with the flow. And once that's all done up you will feel nothing in a good, way until not rightness and desire arise again, which arise both before and after enlightenment, only after it is not fear based,

This only leaves me with two questions: 1.If this truth is one's true nature then how did we ever become separated from it? 2.If there is only one then why is he devoting so much time talking about a difference between oneness versus not-oneness? 3.Even if it is all one this still leaves open the question of cause, effect and consequences. If he had resolved those why would he be talking whilst it makes no difference to the state of oneness, he wouldn't be able to bring about change.

I have seen real Spiritual Transmission and that is not a bunch of mind that carries words with it. When you look into the eyes of the Divine you can't settle for ego life.

Which do you have as my second para? If it's spot on I'd better read it again to see if I learn anything! The only thing I have to boast about it that sometimes (even, more or less, during this posting session) my mind falls away and I forget who I am. I feel totally good, and it is as if there could never have been be a problem and there never will be, and everything I ever wanted or had was just a bad dream, or in fact, "just words and descriptions".

It is the most subtle and basic thing in the world its unbelievable that it takes so long to calm the body enough to realise it. It is the closest thing to non-existence...its like you cannot explain how you even know its there.. IT JUST FREAKING IS. You will know when you feel it because it makes absolutely NO SENSE. Its impossible to name it.

i can see reality now. What upsets me is, nothing means anything, but isnt meaningless....what the fuck do i do now? I know this is whats left of my ego making me feel really depressed. Everything is just still as fuck,and its beautiful. Swearing makes me feel more manly when use spirit-jargon haha. The feeling i have now, knowing everything has no meaning but isnt meaningless, is that there is nothing to achieve or do now..thats ego....what should i do about this? Its cool making progress.

Everything isn't spirit nor an expression of spirit, though it can be interpreted that way. Otherwise it's pure dualism. But it's possible he was speaking metephorically from the outset, and in that sense, everything IS connected as one, beyond the level of percepton and dualism. It certainly doesn't SOUND like it when he says from the start that bodies and everything else are an expression of spirit - it would be simpler to clear that up from the outset - but it's possible. Context is everythin

It seems to me that Adyashanti is using the term "eye of spirit" in place of the term "Awareness". Many teachers of the same ilk will use a lot of different terms for the same thing. One reason seems to be that they give many talks and try not to constantly repeat themselves. Another reason seems to be that it is challenging to talk about such a subject and agree on a universal terminology. Don't take my word-- these are just educated guesses.

@NYCw66 There is no problem in material things giving happiness to you... and there is no problem in them not giving it... don't fall into the trap of using buzzwords like enlightened, slightly enlightened, etc. ..... words are there to fool us :) ... it's only when you know that you are not whatever you think you are, and just something that is aware of itself and that the awareness will last only ephemerally, you realize the meaninglessness inherent in all such questions themselves :) :)

I think when people think everything is perfect because they might see that they no longer judge something, therefore it is "perfect", accepting something without judgement. This tells me that the egos of these people say that "perfect" means not judging, so the only way they would judge would be if the thing is perfect.....thats some fucked up shit.

humans judge things as perfect or imperfect, good or bad etc... and often disagree. God, beyond such duality and judgement, unconditionally accepts life as it unfolds. God is perfectly content with everything...humans often complain... who do you think has it right?

Damn right, Jesus was sometimes wrong, be ye perfect as the Kingdom of Heaven is perfect. Perfection is the perfecting itself. Buddha was much smarter.
