Bulawayo is Zimbabwe's second largest city and the capital of Matabeleland, home of the Ndebele tribe.
#Bulawayo is a city in southwest Zimbabwe. It’s a gateway to Matobo National Park, home to the Matobo Hills rock formations and Stone Age cave art. Park wildlife includes rhinos and black eagles. Nearby, Tshabalala Game Sanctuary has zebra and impala. West of Bulawayo, the ruins of 15th-century Khami city comprise stone walls and terraces. Bulawayo’s Natural History Museum of #Zimbabwe displays finds from the site.

Bulawayo has always been beautiful. I lived there from 1980 to 1989 and returned to the US. The last time I was in BYO was 2019 it’s still a beautiful city. Did you visit the townships? When I lived there I fell in love with Luveve. I spent a lot of time in the townships and in the rural area of Empandeni. I came to Zim in the 5th grade in 1980 and attended Coghlan. When we moved from the states, I had to repeat the 5th grade because based on British standards my English was incoherent lol. I believe that to be truth! Then I attended Evelyn High for 1 year and finished my high school education at Girls College(GC) in boarding school, 1 out 2 of the first two African students to attend GC. It was initially opened as an all white school in the 80s Then I returned to the US for college. Unfortunately I’m still here! Bulawayo! Zimbabwe is my home! I will return in 2022 to get Zim citizenship with my mom’s help.

I mean it’s great that you have embraced Canada as your homeland Mzee! Thank you Uzo Ejekwumadu you get it! I live in New York, i have lived here practically my entire life. I am very close to retirement, and spending my entire life in the US isn’t a goal for me.

There are here & there some garbage on the streets, but yes, indeed of many African cities, Bulawayo looks like have the "dirtiness" of a European Mediterranean country & seems so tidy!!! Believe me or not, my country Greece, is not very famous about it's tidy, clean image, especially in big cities, but also in smaller!!! Mostly the most touristic areas (Santorini, Mykonos, Syros, Pelion villages, Epirus villages & generally all these famous mainland mountainus villages), are over Bulawayo's image!!! I like very much the blooming jacarandas!! I think it's a common image in southern African cities!!!

The Lady referred to the National Art gallery as if its just an ordinary building. It is a historical building that was completed in 1902. It is protected under the National Museums and Monuments Act. That building is part of 155 buildings in Bulawayo that are of historical importance and are protected through an architectural and historical merit. The merit gives protection to the buildings, which helps to preserve the heritage and history of Bulawayo. The buildings represent the highest standards of Victorian architecture that correspond with the long reign of Queen Victoria who ruled Great Britain from 1837 to 1901.

It is AMAZING....Zim cities are kept quite clean and I hardly saw street paddlers on curb sides with their goods. In Zim, citizens are law abiding and the country is upkept in an orderly fashion despite economical challenges the country is enduring at present.

Southern Africa and Zimbabwe have a strong sense of order and cleanliness. I value these things so I appreciate it where I see it. Lining the streets with trees is also a good move. Tigress you haven't played Thomas Mapfumo "what shall we do?" That's what comes to mind when someone says "Zimbabwe" to me. The city seems pretty developed to me. I don't see piles of rubbish or beggars positioned a strategic locations. They're doing well... Claudia is very knowledgeable about her city and it was a pleasure to listen to her educating us.

It's a beautiful place wth a lot of activities goin on. You might also wanna visit Manicaland where we grow most of our tea and also get to enjoy the beautiful mountains. The view is stunning. Also check out Sanganai Creek located at Mazvikadei Dam in Mahusekwa. The place is beautiful and full of nature and lots of activities like canoeing, horse racing etc. Welcome to Zimbabwe.
