Allen teaches at M.I. I would sit for hours just listening to his playing. When you hear it live it's amazing. The melodies and musicality he possesses is mindboggling. He's probably the first guy I've seen that really becomes one with his guitar. Effortless Mastery indeed.
Just bought this tune from iTunes. Oh man, there is so much going on and the crystal clear production deserves mention. I can honestly say I've never heard anyone blend southern elements, like the pedal steel, into jazz fusion as well as this cat does.
Mesmerizing. In every field, whether it's music, sports, art, whatever, there's always somebody who's just not reachable. Allen Hinds is one of those talents. Jeez! I could watch this one video over and over again. Hell......I have.
Wonderful...just awesomely wonderful. Was having a bad day, arrived here almost at random, and was transported to a totally different place. A really outstanding player.
GC seeks then used when they come in for about 350 bucks nowadays. I picked one up a few months ago.. Best 350 I've ever spent. And the cabs.... 300 bucks for a greenback and an 70th H30.... Can't beat it.
Well, I tried an amp by line 6 and bogner the other day.I tell you, it had nothing to do with the bogner alchemist I had tried previously. The line 6 amp had some awful digital distortion emulators. The alchemist, on the other hand, had just the warmest tone I've ever heard. From clean channel to dirty channel, it was just flawless.I hope I can get one someday, because I think I'm in love haha. Cheers!
Gain 12 T 11 M 12 B 2 Volume 10 Boost on Mercury on Gain 1 T 1 M 12 B 1 Volume 11 Delay11 (Tape) Repeats 9 Reverb 9 (Hall) My best guess looking at the shots - all boosts off Great feel, stunning touch, brilliant phrasing, Allen is a Maestro.
Allen huge, really a great game of touch and sound, great shades! not to mention the amplifier, with the Bogner Alchemist HIS has done a really bargain, a new jewel in the market, can you give us an pensierino seen the price very interesting and saw verstilità! Congratulations! Regards.
i like how he changed his tone in the middle of the tune - can't do that with a rack system! =P picking with your fingers is a great way to get great true tone and feel out of a guitar!
I thought the description said "Allen Hinds rich, soulful playing style is supported in spades by the *expensiveness*, responsiveness and sensitivity of Bogner Alchemist™." LOL. beautiful playing. He really seems to be playing for himself.
@TheMetalFloyd666 There is a big and better world outside of Fender. Companies like Suhr, Tom Anderson, Tyler, Nash and several more make instruments that are far superior to anything coming out of the Fender factory. Allen is using an Xotic Classic.
the first itunes song ive purchased this year...great playing and tone!! love the chirp at 2:20..sounds like that maple neck is a great match with the darker alchemist lead tone. was the original recording done with a dumble?
@ThieleM there are factory fenders but that are not the fenders i am talking about, tyler is shurely top Quality but fender is too, it's just what sound you like, im not trying to win a discussion but it's true what i say (btw i don't have a custom shop, you have these factorymade guiutars of fender bur rhey suck, you were right in that) my strat is handmade
@rotagen5 ya there are no solder joints in the amp,it's all plugs. if you wanted to gig or tour with it you'd probably have to have all the points soldered. as it is the plugs should be reseated every so often. just a heads up. great tone though.
Just a heads up, this amp has great sound but I have been burned by bad reliability right out of the box. Box was not damaged and shipped by a company that deals with electronics, but there was power loss, crackling, etc right out of the box.
I'm gonna venture a guess.. (pure speculation) that Bogner designed the the amp for the most part and Line 6 designed the effects. Line 6 is probably mass producing in their factories with printed circuits and such( vs hand wiring) to keep the cost down. Not a big deal sense Fender and Marshall have been doing this for years. Sounds great and I'd take it over a Spider ANY DAY! :)
RU-vid is swarming with electric guitarists playing arpeggios and heavy riffs at lightning speed. That gets boring real quick! VERY refreshing to hear really tasty, melodic playing like that of Allen Hinds, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Carl Verheyen, and a handful of others.
@TheMetalFloyd666 I your strat from the 60's or 50's? If it isnt then that guitar has a neck made on CNC and a body made on CNC. Fender has been handfinishing guitars for decades now....the main work is done on CNC. Nothing wrong with that but if you think ANY Fender you can buy or have bought in the last 30 years is handmade you are crazy. By the way, I used to work for the Custom Shop. It was a nice place to work and Fender treats people well.
"Scooping" or cutting a little off the mids is pretty common with strats/single coils. Also very amp dependent. His tone here sound very neutral, certainly not scooped. He sounds great here with the Alchemist but you can tell he was feeling out the sound in the beginning and shaped his playing to get what he wanted.
@STORYTASTIC heyhey now, don't confuse the (as usual with many guitarists) elevator backing track with the passionate playing that's done on top of it :-)
