Fallout 1 was bleak, but there was also a lot of optimism, humor and a sense that people were rebuilding. In a lot of ways the Brotherhood of Steel was very hopeful, since their original goal was preserving technology for the good of humanity. Resurrection takes the bleak atmosphere and turns it up to 11, and I always saw a lot of the factions and locations as harsher versions of what we see in FO1 and 2. The Mutant Hunters are like the Brotherhood of Steel, except with all the violence, all the power, and none of the forward thinking. Rat Hole is the Den but with all the cruelty and none of the comic relief. Rebirth is Unity but humanised so we aren't given a pure evil enemy to let loose on. Sedit is the hub, but more oppressive. Most characters are only interested in themselves and every faction is the worst possible version of itself.
Bruh you just had to destroy my entire life with that "It's like working on a car for someone who's even worse at talking to women" dude I'm a car guy and a modder.
Hahahah dude this line made me lol out loud, I’m still learning about modding and am a programmer and car nerd and if not for my wife. I would def be screwed hahahaha
Re: Power armor scarcity. *SPOILER ALERTS* As far as I can remember it, those suits of power armors were scavenged from abandoned military bases and facilities like PROGEMA, mutants base, and Rebirth base. Mutants hunters also stole some of the suits from the Albuquerque vault, so that's an immediate explanation on how they got power armors. Still, yeah, the amount of power armors that exists in the TC mod is way too many.
Also, I think there might have been a line about power running out, automated defenses shutting down, etc. I know PROGEMA has terminal lines about the automated defense keeping things out for decades, but eventually failing.
I'm so glad I got this recommended to me, i love this video. all the (proper) fallouts are remarkable games, but i think the real beauty of them are the mods. definitely keeping an eye on this series. great stuff!
@@arminkuburas1696 i think a lot of people define "proper fallout" as "fallout that continues the design philosophy of the first game". There's a lot of flaws to classifying it like that, because imo the design philosophy of 1 is totally different from 2 but yea
@@ramblelime well then there is no proper fallout outside of the first game. The second game is close but there are many flaws and differences from the first one.
Does new Vegas even dabble with amnesia? I assume that the reason your character asks about the ncr is simply just to pick peoples’ brains and get their thoughts. And the reason the courier doesn’t remember them delivering the package that led to the divide was because, to them, it was just another mundane delivery for them. If I remember correctly, the courier didn’t even know they had the platinum chip until Benny stole it, same thing here. The courier remembers his travels in the Shark Club, and a singer they saw in there. He remembers their daughter they had 17 years ago (if they are a guy.)
1.5 Resurrection and Fallout Nevada both great mods. Currently im waiting for Sonora and Olympus 2207 to be translated. And also waiting for Fallout Yesterday.
My god the algorithm just made me stumble upon a gem. The interview at the end with your friend was a perfect touch btw. This channel looks very promising, and I look forward to seeing more content!
So. When you get to Fallout Tactics, there WAS a mod, i think its still able for download, called Fallout Tactics: Enclave. you play as the enclave, and the missions are legit, fun, unique and so forth. the issue, is something broke and isnt able to be played anymore. no idea why.
Some very interesting points at the beginning, honestly liking your style. We'll probably disagree on many things, but I am glad how you put your ideas forward and without mask. Keep the good work up, you deserve more people to see your videos.
Great video, Ramblelime! I’ve enjoyed Fallout and Fallout 2, but this is something that I’ve overlooked and will be adding it to the to do list. Looking forward to the rest of the series! Cheers and God bless, Caleb Mellstrom
As someone who is from New Mexico this mod is a must play. Even though tons of interesting things have gone on and continue to go on here, you don’t see very many movies/games take place here. So I’m interested to see what happens to a land I know so well in the fallout universe.
@@conor987 yeah, the cars part was pretty cool. I’d like to think that those sort of features are taken on by Bethesda in later games.. makes no sense that they can build suits of nuclear powered armour.. but can’t replace a combustion engine.
yeah the new vegas part of this series is gonna be interesting. is he just doing the dlc/game sized mods like autumn leaves, beyond boulderdome ,and the frontier? or is he also gonna cover the smaller stuff like someguy and th3overseer's stuff.
@@megamike15 my position right now is that i'll cross that bridge when I get there. If people are interested in seeing videos on the smaller ones, i'd be happy to cover em!
I will have to give resurrection a try so I can watch the spoilers section of your video however, the rest alone was enough to sell me on the mod. I look forward to the others. This video had pacing and overall quality enough to make me subscribe with full notifications. I am eagerly awaiting the rest of your series.
Happy that the RU-vid recommendations spit out something good for once! Hope you keep making content man, this is some really good stuff you're making.
Hey man, great Video. Played resurrection years ago but still remember it very fondly. Looking forward for other mods in this series. Keep up the good Work
I’ve skipped out on a lot of videos that fit this kind of context, in regards to the videos being based around fallout. You’re very well spoken in this, and I’m hooked just because of your delivery. my only complaint is with editing, I find myself more enthralled with content if the visuals are associated more with what’s being spoken, beyond the surface level. keep these coming, I know very little about the story decisions of the Frontier because every google result keeps bringing up skunks or something along those lines, so if you can elaborate on the flaws, (or exceptional parts) with the writing, I’d be super invested!
Subscribed, thank you for this series, after the frontier scandal I was afraid that the modding community would see some backlash, but im really glad to see that it spawned this video series.
This is stellar content, man! It's really promising seeing a small channel producing such high quality content. You've got a bright future! (I've definitely subbed)
Just a quick comment, You mentioned the courier has amnesia in F:NV Chris Avalone stated that the courier actually still remembers their life and doesn't have amnesia - which is why the courier mentions they've been to places like the Hub, Vault City, New Reno and also recognise people like Bruce Isaac. Otherwise great video, and I subbed 👍
Random slot machine recommendation of a channel, and I dig this. Looking forward to this series and where it will go. Also, the editing is really good. Pretty good quality compared to the expectations you usually get on smaller channels.
A possible explanation for the Power Armor, is maybe the armor was scavenged from Military Police in the area of New Mexico? I'm pretty sure America annexed Canada, and declared war on mexico(Not totally sure on this) and so having multiple detachments of power armor just for control of the populace is logically sound, I don't know if it holds any lore validity though.
Heard the word "fanfiction"....wasn't actually expecting MLP. With that out of the way 1.5 is special in it's own way having replayed it a few weeks ago, I'm always surprised by how long and how many options you have for finishing some of the larger quests. Anytime I replay the classic fallouts I ALWAYS include 1.5 in that list! The level of story telling is competent enough to always keep you engaged in wanting to discover the next piece of the story.
Combine the main story, locations, and side quests of Resurrection with the mechanics, locations, and side quests of Nevada and you have... the perfect Fallout game.
After finally playing Resurrection I’m surprised u didn’t mention the main villain Spoilers: The Saviour is prolly the most interesting villain ive seen in fangames so far, he’s been built up as this myth like legend to the ghouls of Rebirth, the first ghoul to turn back to a human. And when u meet him he certainly has a mix of the Master’s god complex and if u end up talking him out of this or reading the holo disk on him, u learn he was a decorated Mutant Hunter who allegedly died in a heroic sacrifice. It’s ironic since the mutant hunters were established to ensure the Master’s plot of world destruction would never happen again yet it is a Mutant hunter that ends up creating and establishing the most deadly faction of ghouls possibly in any fallout game to pull off global genocide.
"Even more hopeless with women than car guys" lol... I'm both... this explains alot :/ Now that I take my life in review, I was strangely able to date attractive women in my 20's when all I owned was a console and didn't know shit about cars, WTF
I just found your channel and I gotta say I'm super interest bud, defo a sub and like from me, in regards to what you was saying about quest mods.... (warning long ass comment about a quest mod that resonated with me and then i start rambling about what fallout means to me, bit about the game, life and philosophey, i'm happy for no one to bother reading it and let it float in cyber space :-) ) I found a RU-vidr called Gopher and he inspired me to re-play New Vegas whilst running the Some guy series quest mods....New Vegas bounties I, II and III was one of them, THAT QUEST MOD.....ROCKED ME TO MY CORE, it had me making some serious messed up morale choices along with it being wild and wacky and thought overall it had a fantastic story line and I was so emotionally invested in, some of choices I thought was the right ones, at the end of story when the narrator kicks in to reflect on your choices, dam near me choked up...."shit I didn't think about that". The whole Some guy series is an emotion roller coaster.... especially when you force yourself to have companions unprotected from permanent death and throw in some realistic weapon damage so humans are tough based on there armor and armour penetration rather than health poor, so 1 shot of 45-70 gov. to an unprotected head, pop goes the weasel but mutants are Tough and require a quite few shots of that gov. round or 50 cal or 40 mm grenades......It made combat feel deadly and serious compared to vanilla hardcore where I would almost want to quit the game, because your damage output was so bad its just immersion breaking and feels silly, I think I had would of use vanilla damage it might of ruined the immersion of that play through. if you've never played the Some guy series its well worth a play, at times at had me laughing my ass off and other time screaming at my PC screen "NOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOO HOW, JUST HOOOOOOOOW DID she GET AWAY...AGAIN!!!!!!!, DAM MY GOOD NATURE UUUUUUURGH, DAM you X, Y and Z reasons" (you have to play to find out why, I loved the RU-vidr know as Gopher's reaction). I truly feel like Fallout new Vegas is a part of me, I played it growing up as 15-16 yr old but I never really appreciated it and got really connected with it until later in my 20's to become immersed in it and see it as just more than a game to goof about on, but it gave me a place where I could explore morality and have control over a story as at time there was nothing to do to change my own story in the real world, Terminally ill mother, poverty, stress and drama we all have our vices and problems in life and fallout help me cope. It helped by showing me that world can always get so much worse and far more messed up than what I was dealing it, I think in a small way it helped me to appreciate the better things I had in life like the fact of having an awesome mum in first place, Old world blues was one things that taught me danger of nostalgia not to come down old world blues, stuck living in the past in a state of constant reflect of the what was....how did that line go "eyes like pilot lights guttering and spent, starring into the what was as there realities of there world continue on around them" Dead money reminded me to let go and begin again, the some guy series shown me that the road to hell is paved with good intentions but at the end of the day all you do is your best, there all little philosophical nudges and reminders to me, some people say that playing a game a violent and dark as that turns you in murdering psycho path...well bullshit in my case fallout especially modded, only served to deepen my humanity and help make me give a shit when I was emotionally drained and gave me few hours to think about something else for while and escape and de-stress, it was better than falling down into the bottle of whiskey bottle. So thank you to every modder out there that helped breath life into a game that keep me sane and keep me alive inside, I only wish there was a way to repay you all.
The hunters probably have so much power armor because pre war new Mexico would've been a very likely area to mount a resistance against an Invasion by china coming from the texas/gulf area meaning theres more left over military tech
Amazing content man, I just watched both your Fallout 1 and 2 reviews and appreciate the depth you have provided us. When you get to Fallout 4 mods I hope you take a second cover the extensive weapon mod scene for it, the quality of animations made by people like Ha_Ru, F34r, Warfighter and others are honestly worth looking into and I believe reinforces the community's idea that 4 is a good game but a bad fallout game.
Hey, hi, new subscriber to the channel, love your stuff, and I adore your Enderal review (I mean, I am biased, Enderal, is my favorite game of all time). But I wanted to ask, as an enjoyer of the classic fallout games, have you tried sinking your teeth into its more brutal, more cruel and somehow even weirder successor (ish) Underrail? Because while It is definitely a ball-busting experience that goes way too hard sometimes, I also find its world and story (especially DLC) fascinating for a post apocalypse, not to mention how deep its systems are if you dive deep into them. If you have the courage, I deeply recommend it and if you manage to beat the gauntlet, maybe doing a review? Thanks :)
1. 2. 3. Oh my... I know how your Frontier review will look like.. speaking of that I hate that it seems to be common thing to ignore most engine limitation... Nothing against breaking the boundries to achieve some stuff not seen in vanilla, but if you break the limit so much, that the games crashes 1 of 2 times you visit place x because it can't handle that many objects at once or making jump'n' run section with shitty jumping modders went too far...
alot of mods i use i consider canon to my games. pretty much all the mods i use in the baldurs gate games are part of the story to me. and i would never play new vegas with out th3overseer's mods they fit so nicely in.
To anyone who's on the fence wanting to try this TC mod, but wary about the story after recent shenanigans committed by NV modders: be warned that the execution of the story in 1.5: Resurrection is rather vulgar and might came out as edgy to some of you. In fact, it IS edgy, I won't sugarcoat it. And yet, this TC mod and Fallout of Nevada could easily pass as its own brand new Fallout games. In its entire existence, the modding community of Fallout 2 have managed to produce these 2 gems of which none of NV modders managed to came up with on their something comparable so far.
15:57 Sure being a rotting zombie would suck, however not needing to eat, sleep and being completely immune to radiation is a great benefit, and a chance at immortality is a nice cherry on the cake, assuming you don't turn feral, just keep away from Radiation and Dunwich buildings and you'll be fine! Masters super mutants have it best, they have indefinite lifespans, have all the benefits of ghouls and a stat buff across the board, they do not suffer any negatives like rotting and going feral, the only drawback, you are unfortunately sterile.
Irl Albuquerque does have a pretty large of Military base, the primary branch is the airforce in that but there are National Guard and Army Reserve portions of the base. So I'm assuming that that was a simular case.
Its been a lucky week for me, that's for sure. Really hope i can keep the momentum going as the series continues, but this still doesn't feel quite real to me lmao
I started with Fallout 3, then went back around to play 1 and 2 and Tactics. So when NV was about to drop, I was pretty deep in the "Fallout 2 is the best fallout" camp. And people threw "nostalgia" at me
Also, while at it, I hope you see this and make it a note because there are another Fallout 2 TC mods to cover, and there are quite a lot of them actually. *Fallout of Sonora*, from the same creator of Nevada. Iirc it hasn't seen 1.0 release at this point, so like Nevada it won't have a translated version until after it's fully released and patched. *Mutants Rising*, a TC mod made by a team comprised mostly of English-speaking members iirc. The mod itself should be quite near completion, if not for the pandemic messing with everyone's real life. Should keep tabs on it, sir. And finally, *Fallout: Yesterday*. Basically a fanmade Van Buren by the exact same lead of the team who once wanted to make it but for some reason the team has dissolved and now the individual went out of his way to make the mod by himself. Currently in 'early access', as far as I can remember it. So you could immediately hop on it and help the gentleman make it as great as we all dreamed Van Buren to be. There's also Olympus 2207, but the last time I checked on it the translation project hasn't progressed at all. And I didn't hear many good things about it other than new assets and cool aesthetics.
They're all on my radar. Didn't know sonora was by the nevada devs, now i'm even more hyped. Unfortunately i only speak english so i have to wait for translations for some of those
@Starless Ah damn. Perhaps that's why the translation project was grinded to a halt. The translator encountered some...things... though tbh I can't remember hearing such things from people who've played it other than it being subpar or unremarkable in general.
Fallout New California is True Canon In my head. Defiantly more canon the Fallout Tactics. But fallout 1.5 Resurrection defiantly deserves a spot in canon. Defiantly more then fallout brotherhood.
