Azarith Nah. Their stuff's probably tight as all hell, considering they're mostly comprised of "muscles". The goods within them are completely flat, though, due to the violence of the transformation process. Like dry humping a uranium rod.
No, for a more 'appropiate and explained' argument, the virus destroyed their reproductive organs, since every mutant- I mean- Meta Humans, looks exactly the same, its probably that the virus evolved man and woman into a 'generic muscular dump/genius sadist', take an example from Lily, a grandma nightkin in New Vegas, however she looks as any other nightkin, muscular, blue and a rasp (almost) deep voice.
I like how Lou sounds so sane despite having a very strange ideology. You think you can simply talk your way out, but then he starts torturing you and it’s when you realize just how fucked in the mind he truly is. Great character.
Well, he isn't. The only reason he says "Oddly satisfying" is to intimidate the vault dweller into thinking that he could do this for days... He didn't want to do it, but he simply had to. He is a "means justify the ends" person like the master was.
@@fawkewetrue he was so blinded by his crazy intellect and his need to build an army. That the fact his perfect race couldn’t breed made them completely flawed and pointless. Which snaps him back to reality, back to his human side. Dude was convinced that suicide is only way out, realizing the horrors of his actions both direct and indirect. To me it takes a pretty sane individual to realize their faults and deal with accordingly, in my opinion
It helps to cement that, at the end of the day, the Unity essentially relies on religious fanaticism of the inner circle mutants too. Its not just a cult on the outside.
God, I still can't get over how good the voice acting talent was for this game, the IMDB entry for it reads like a triple-A Hollywood production. Jim Cummings, Tony Shalhoub, Ron Perlman, Tress MacNeille, Tony Jay, Clancy Brown, Richard Dean Anderson, Keith David... It was like a modern big-budget game before that was even a thing.
@Red Dragon What's so strange that back in the past where nothing was pretty strong, people had to make bad choices to become good ones, plus Humanity is struggling in a radioactive world so the Master thought it was better to create the age of mutants as next generation of Humanity. It's actually awesome compared that they're known as the "bad-Guys" while the US Government (Enclave) was trying to do the same thing as well while the Chosen One was known as a terrorist to the US. War really doesn't ever change eh? (Talking from Annexed Canada)
Have you ever realized how civilized he was and so very polite. Too bad he was trying to assimilate me into a mutant like the Borg from Star Trek The Next Generation.
Wait, he said there's "a slight problem in the reproductive process" and that it's "being attended to". Does this mean that the Master's plan could've actually worked if he perfected the FEV?
Well I believe he means that the process of creating a super mutant from humans is problematic. Though there are a few super mutants who are both strong and smart, like the Luitenant, most are dumb brutes. Its not really a problem with the FEV, it is implied that there's some factor in the biology of altered individuals that causes the change, perhaps the amount of radiation in their bodies. Theoretically, if the Master had ironed that out then yes, it could potentially have worked. Provided they had enough FEV.
Though in hindsight, I don't see how the Master's plan would fail. Super Mutants are immortal, so if they could breed, overpopulation would be a huge problem. If they were sterile and could simply make more Super Mutants from enslaved Humans, then they could control the population.
Lieutenant is totally badass character, pure epicness! One of the best antagonists in the entire history of the computer games. Tony Jay has done a brilliant job of voice acting this character.
I love how the first mutants I ran into talked like typical, cartoonish dumb guys... then when I let myself get dragged to this guy he's menacing *and* eloquent. Of course, I was so in the moment that I had neglected at the time to realize that it's Tony Jay.
Let's not lament his loss but celebrate his legacy. He was in another black isle game... The romp through spiritual philosophy which is Planescape: Torment
Agreed. Even if the likes of ReBoot has a proper conclusion, Megabye not being voiced by him would be a jarring experience, even if his replacement is good enough.
"If you're the perfect being then what's with the robot eye? Doesn't seem like the perfect being would need a robot eye. I mean empirically why would the perfect being need AGHHHHH"
Yeah, they are not totally "perfect" the mutation seem to sever the nerves of the super mutant upper lips (you can see they are never moving at all) that's why they have strap for their upper lips.
This makes me really miss the intelligent Super Mutants of old Fallout. It's a massive subversion of your expectations when you meet one of these monstrous-looking brutes, and you realize they are actually highly intelligent and view their condition as a blessing, "the next advancement in human evolution". Their sense of superiority and zealous belief in The Master's agenda is both highly interesting and frightening, and way more compelling for a villain. Then you have someone like Marcus, who is kind and peaceful, but still has no issues with himself being a mutant and honestly believes humanity would be better off turning into mutants, just that he doesn't want to do it forcefully. It's a great shame that they have been turned into savage orcs in the Bethesda games, the kind of bad guys who only want to "SMASH HUMAN!" and who literally blow themselves up trying to kill you. Complete betrayal of what made them so great in the old games.
What makes the subversion of your expectations part even more compelling is when you encounter Harry, and you think that the other super mutants *will* be as dumb as bricks as him.
Fallout 3 has a bunch of intelligent mutants tho, fallout 4 has far less but still. On a side note the lack of intelligent mutants makes sense canonically (this probably being an accident rather than actual thought on Bethesdas part but still). Supermutant intelligence is based on the amount of radiation they were exposed to prior to mutating, thats why they want vault dwellers. However in fallout 3 the supermutants just capture random people and dip them, since the only other possibility would be vault 101 which has been sealed and is surrounded by settlements. All the supermutants in fallout 4 are mutants that left DC and wandered to the Commonwealth (either that or the institute just capturing and transforming random settlers) meaning that most would be quite stupid logically
@@billycumcamp6104 Super Mutant intelligence has nothing to do with background radiation, the success of human-mutant conversion is entirely caused by the amount of long term exposure to the mutated strain of FEV which seems to have gotten out and ingrained itself into the wasteland. This is quite clearly stated by the lieutenant.
I love it how you could just enter the base via Harry at Necropolis. First time I did that it scared the shit out of me when I came in contact with the lieutenant and his gatling laser.
I like it, that in Fallout, Fallout II and Arcanum final boss thinks, that he is the good one. It is much more realistic and sofisticated, then chilldish Diablo who is just evil and whole his ideals are doing evil...
He was one of the very few super mutants that was capable of withstanding the regimen of the FEV transformation without losing his intellect unlike other super mutants, even possibly receiving an increase mayhaps. The other being Marcus.
This is the kind of super mutant that the Master would want all his super mutants to turn out: more intelligent, stronger and overall superior to normal humans.
You made this comment on a video about a game that just so happens to be a highly recommended experience that cannot be replicated on a console system. How wonderfully ironic.
Now I see that the plan of The Master could have worked if there was a way of farming humans to subsequently turn them into mutants. They'll never be completely independent of them but they will survive and be more massive than ever in the long run. It's a shame this idea will never see the light of day, like a new Mutant Uprising.
"Intuitively obvious to the most casual observer". Man i loved this line as a kid and i have used it a few times as an adult to express how obvious something was in a backhanded manner and legit some folks i know were too dumb to understand this line.
Bethesda doesn't understand and after Fallout 4 i can definitely say that they will NEVER understand what it takes to make a Fallout Game. all they know how to do is Open World Games, and that is that.
+Sir Tobias Whether you like it or not fallout 4 is currently the newest product that can actually be referred too as "Real" fallout because it is made by those who currently own the rights which is the only way something can be considered "Real" however the fact that you dont like it and that it doesn't feel like the old ones is another thing which i can understand
Th. Noatak True, though it is a common sentiment through the classic Fallout community, the Fallout community has split between fans of the classics and fans of Bethesda
+zupergozer A lot of that is nostalgia. The same goes for The Elder Scrolls series. I remember when Morrowind was released. It was my first Elder Scrolls game and it's still my favorite. I remember how the people who had played the previous two games called Morrowind inferior and watered down. And it's been that way ever since...
This guy had more faith in the Unity than even the Master did. To him, the Super Mutants being sterile was a flaw to be overcome. To the Master, the revelation made him kill himself.
His upper lip always looked like some sort a moustache to me. Something like a Muttonstache. Like Sir Hammer Lock or the Major General from Pirates of Penzance. And his augmented eye looks like a fancy monocle. Now all he needs is a black top hat and some tea. Then we got ourselves a Fancy Super Mutant Gentleman. Hehe.
This guy’s voice was everywhere as the menacing bad guy of 90s cartoons, from Megabyte in Reboot to Faustus in Christian cartoon Adventures in Odyssey... damn I totally forgot that show was a thing til I heard this voice again
Well, Lou is one of his kind, because most of the other mutants are dumbasses like Harry in FO. And DC were created differently than the west coast muties.
Ones in New Vegas didn't say that as much, mostly just Nightkin screaming that the voices in their heads were getting louder and that everyone was looking at them. the non-Nightkin mutants just tended to have ridiculous voices due to the tightness of their head and mouth vices. Side note; one of the most intelligent conversations from the Fallout 3 mutants: 'hey, me have joke for you, ready? Knock knock.' 'Who there?' '...humans...' 'Humans who?' 'Kill, kill all the humans!! Burn them all!!' 'Ahaaahahahaahahaaaa!!! Oh, that... Good one!!! Haaaghh! Haaaggh!!'
