I decided to finally try out an Unarmed playthrough for Fallout 3 and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it can be just as badass as the skill is in Fallout 2 and New Vegas just for the sheer level of bare fist damage you can output on Wasteland horrors! since Fallout 3 isn't blessed with the Mega Power Fist, Turbo, Boxing Tape, Scribe Counter of other titles I decided to finally try out Paralyzing Palm and holy smokes...its broken. The 30% chance seems to proc a lot and despite what the description implies it can actually proc off Unarmed weapons such as the terrifying Armor Ignoring Deathclaw Gauntlet for maximum hilarity. Also don't ask me how I barely take any damage while in V.A.T.S. the wiki says you take 10% of normal damage while in V.A.T.S. and I'm not good at maths.
Fallout 3's Bare Fists seem to do Fatigue damage also which is VERY handy especially in combo with Paralyzing Palm and my Bare Fist damage output was me following a specific guide that told me how to "overcap" my Unarmed skill through a method of starting with END 1 (Unarmed govern stat) then taking No Weakness (stats -5 become 5) and then Almost Perfect (stats -9 become 9) and then grabbing the adequate Bobbleheads and apparently... doing that can overcap (not visibly) your Unarmed skill if its sitting at 100 before taking Almost Perfect? don't ask me how the engine works lol
it also stated that taking Pugilism Illustrated after this acts as adding more overcapped points to your Unarmed for extra damage? I'm not arguing since I think I see results and I'm really happy I was able to punch my way through my 2nd favorite Fallout game after Fallout 1.
Here's the link to the build if theres any NERDS who'd like to fact-check it. gamefaqs.games...
