All these tips still work (at time of posting) the electric wire glitch took me a couple of goes to get right, but now I can run power through every house in sanctuary with a single main, just like in real life, after I've fixed them up like you show in other videos. Great tips!! Still working two years later, as well. You can also wire your whole settlement under ground by placing the conduit on the ground and wire from your generator to it. And for when you want to place something really high, instead of building stairs and all that, you can just place the item down and then back up to the point where it barely let's you highlight it in builder mode. Then pick it up and you can place things four stories up.

Thank you for another great teaching video. The one thing I wish someone would have told me early on is that you cannot rug glitch "items that snap" (fences, merchant counters, floor and roof panels, etc). I've spent hours trying to figure out why that stuff won't stick to the rug even though it jumps up onto the rug. Anyway, thank you..

AWESOME video as always, for what ever reason my Xbox one allows me to select the wire from almost any angle "except" when facing the mount, no matter what kind of mount. That’s me, I thought I was using the rug glitch. When I was using the Group select. Thank you this was so helpful. Been playing for a while and could never get items into other items. LOL

Call me old or call me whatever I'm surprised so many workarounds have been discovered in May and tricks in order to build the certain ways that I am seeing on this video and others this particular tutorial being extremely simple to the point easy-to-understand I love it who knew Fallout had so many awkward features that were not intended to be used in such a way but yet Works in such a way and not play this game for at least 3 years now straight the only now figure this kind of stuff out makes me more excited to build knowing that it is possible to do things I once thought impossible without the use of mods

I've been aware of the rug glitch not being patched, but could never get it to work. Putting the rug on a ledge really helped me use it. Also had no clue about the wire glitch, I just saw the rug glitch with a pylon

*yelp *sob the nostalgia!!! The wire glitch was my first wastelanddovahkiin video, I remember it fondly. Come to think of it, the advanced build controls was probability the second or third.

Putting wires through walls is also working with the rug glitch. If you connect two things with a wire and put one of them on the rug, you can use the rug glitch to place it on the other side of walls etc. Like your glitch though, will try it out :)

On the rug glitch I've found that when the item won't stick to the rug just cancel the move and grab it again and it'll work. Sometimes it seems that the rug has to be the last item messed with. It kept doing it to me in the machinists lair while trying to move a water pump (the larger one that you place on dirt) from the top corner of the main room that's the only place that'll allow one of that size to be built to the bottom floor under the stairs. I'd have to place the pump on the rug, grab the rug and immediately cancel and then grab it again for it to work.

I knew the glitches themselves but not some of the details (like why group select jumped and the ashtray/cat bowl and that the scrap mod is why I was pulling my hair out the other day🙂). I first saw the wire glitch on one of your vault 88 builds. What an awesome trick it is. Now, wiring doesn't effect how I build the primary structures. One addition (maybe you mentioned it but I missed it. I saw on norespawn: the rug glitch apparently won't work on anything with snap points (like walls, floors, the store countertops from one of the DLCs). Anyway, thanks again. I look forward to your advanced wiring video.

I like how bugs and glitches are more useful for building than actual building mechanics. Games being buggy somehow fits with the Fallout universe.

When using the wiring glitch, do your electric hook-ups last. Wires will run through furniture, rugs, shops, ect. But the wires will interfere with where you can place items.

Hello I know this game and this video is fairly old but since I still play Fallout 4 I found your videos on this subject really really helpful. I have the same Mod that allows you to scrap everything and have been very frustrated in my bulldog Especially the pillar glitch and now I know why. Oh also been Experimenting with the wire hGlitch With mixed results sometimes it is possible to wire a whole settlement with the wires in the ground, others they do go through walls and looks a little strange

Do you have a vid on what ground types you can sink things into? I like to sink my generators into the ground leaving just the connector above ground but some grounds I can’t, why?

when the rug does work on items it should, I think I because there is a lower part of the item that hits the floor below the rug. so I put a rug hanging over a curb to test if that is the problem.

Theyre 2 objects rarely mentioned in power>conduit contraption workshop that naturally pass power through walls with out using any glitching you can use scaffolding instead of ladder or pillar scaffolding frames has the smallest collision to build tempory elivated platforms to lock hight of power grid , scaffolding also can make all defence turrets immune to npc melee attacks.

Hi! Great video; quite informative, too! I do have one question: right now, I'm attempting to place a door in the doorway of Red Rocket Truck Stop, next to where the drive-thru bay is located. (Right besides the open windows) Now, I've tried using just the rug (glitch), and the ashtray. Also, I've tried using group select...so far, nothing seems to work! I CANNOT get that damn door to stick! Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey, you said you can stretch the wires as far as you can? Have you run a wire from one settlement to another? Like have one Settlement be straight up full of generators and feeding another power across the Commonwealth?

Hi there, still playing this game. Use about 30 mods and PC commands. Batch files let you get things done quick on PC.

The wire glitch can be taken even further. By removing the wire! The object remains powered, and can be placed anywhere, at any distance. There’s only a slight variation from what you’re doing. Firstly, you will need to be crouched to do some of this. Do that now, or when i mention it. Second, build a generator. 5 Units is good, because you actually need it elevated some. A 3 unit will need to be placed higher up. (The generators can be moved later) Then build whatever object needs to be powered about 10-14 feet away. In the middle, directly between them, build a floor conduit attach point. Attach the generator to the floor point. Crouch, if not already (Exit workshop mode to do this, and re-enter ) Third, as seen in the video, aim at the generator attach point, with the wire under the cursor so that the wire is highlighted. Press attach wire. Just like in the video, expect to hear a spark, maybe even see it, but there won’t be a visible wire. Fourth, position yourself underneath the wire between the floor point and generator, (this is why you need to be crouched) , and point the cursor at the object to be powered, making sure the wire is under the cursor, so that the wire is highlighted green. Then press attach wire, and the highlighted wire will jump from the floor point, up to the object, and power it. Finally, press store the wire button on that wire that just was created between the object and generator. The object will remain powered, even though there is no wire connecting it to anything. You can now reposition the object and generator wherever you like. Amazing stuff. Literally power everything, wire free, anywhere you want. You’re welcome. (Thank Skooled Zone)

Thhe rig glitch still works in 2021 had some mods that were stopping it but know i have bin using it im so happy having a good time building you can use any mods just not settlement related mod building mods like master plan or workshop rearranged are okay but not settlement limit infinite or any scrapping mods ohh and fyi place everywhere does work with rug glitch i use them both together and perfect for building i use rug glitch to add roof to sanctuary houses and also floors and place anywhere for the door frames

What I'd like to see is a glitch where I can run power all the way from sanctuary all the way out to the lighthouse and then all the way to the drive-thru and then all the way into diamond City you find a glitch like that that would be something awesome

I can make grate decorations by draging and droping items I even made a bar inside the house in dimoand city [but i think i put to many drinks inside] but i just wasnt good with the building system like oh my god you should see how bad i am with making house's in sanctuary.

Thinking about it couldn't you build a tree house, put it on a pillar then rug glitch the pillar to put the tree house into a tree and delete the pillars?
