While I’m glad that we did get a update (something rather than nothing) the fact that it’s been more than a year and all it holds is: couple of bug fixes, widescreen support, console graphics upgrades, a few free creation kit additions………and that’s it is frankly absurd. I’m not expecting a whole new game but for the amount of time it took to come out it seems like very little to show for it, especially with nothing to make the game run better besides just looking a bit better.
they probably started with the PS5 and XBOX series ports which would be 'next gen', and then bundled some other stuff into it to make it a full update for the show.
@@tortellinimanthat may be an issue with their servers same thing happened when the mod menu first launched. Too many people trying at once. And I'm sure over the years they've decreased the dedicated server space.

They could've added everything from Fallout 76 but then no one would play that, so they add a bunch of garbage on 4, while adding all the good stuff on 76, well that's my theory.
@@sniperjared Merely stating that 76 has fresh content that would be fun if it was added to 4, so that's basically the vanilla game content being back-ported to the older game, not confusing the mods, those are far better option yet lacking in canon lore-wise or originality of the vanilla.
Funny thing is any time I have a problem with a game's functionality, the first thing people suggest is turn off v-sync. I don't even know what it is. But not having it seems to help quite often.

Something I did 6 months ago. At least, I copied my entire game folder onto a secondary hard drive. If Bethesda pushes this " update" through, I simply open my game folder, delete the contents and reinsert the old game folder. I mentioned this on threads talking about when this update was still being announced, hopefully some people took my advice.
That's a good call, I better do that before I open Steam later. I got so many mods I'm not even sure if I remember how to install them in the right order to avoid certain game breaking clashes.
@@gasdorficmuncher9943 you don't even have to do that, the first thing that everyone suggests at times like this and this is a holdover from when Skyrim did. This, is to turn off automatic updating on steam. The method I stated at the beginning of this thread was a secondary fallback. And ultimate safeguard if you will
You can also do basically this with Steam console and steamdb - redownloading an older version of the game or at least the changed parts (for this it was the base files, exe, automation and workshop01 iirc)

I respect the fact that you are being very generous in your discussion of the update on PC and I especially think you have a great attitude about seeing content you paid for becoming free for everyone. It says a great deal about your character that you feel that way. As a PC player, I found this "update" insulting and unacceptable. I fully recognize that this update was free. The problem is not the contents by itself. It's waiting for 2 years after an initial announcement with little to no communication about what this actually was that makes this so terrible. And look practically at what they did: Ultrawide support - failure, 60 FPS broken - failure, Missing critical bug fixes - failure, Mostly already existing creation club material - failure, and having ZERO graphical updates as well as no ability to play above 60 FPS without making the game unplayable - failure. The breaking of the mods is not a failure as that is going to happen no matter how good or bad the update was, but their release timing and lack of communication with Fallout London - failure. I definitely started to feel like Bethesda no longer cares as much about the PC market after what happened with Starfield launching only optimized for AMD (not even Intel processors received optimization). This just amplifies that feeling. For the first time in my life, I will NOT be buying the next Bethesda game at launch because they have lost my trust as a consumer. I will wait and see what they do and rely on people far less angry and bitter than myself to evaluate their work.

What's worse is every single mod gets removed and their is no way to replenish the advanced mods on console that Bethesda constantly hides from adults that you only find on a lucky port day or night. Because Bethesda erases all the best mods before you can see them. We desperately need a console mod nexus for adults.
You're going to have to wait for that, mods are going to have to update and some of them probably will never be since some mod devs have stopped working on them
At least that update did something to Skyrim. This could have been a basic update and nobody would have thought differently. Nothing Next gen about this.

The worst thing about these updates especially for Skyrim is that the creator of The Unofficial patch of which many mods require will refuse to support older versions of the game and will only provide the patch for the most recent official Bethesda update and he has taken a very anti-modder stance by deleting or locking any comments asking for previous versions of his patch , removing other official versions of the patch from the website, and when asked about why he does this he simply says to move on and abandon all unupdated mods. And the unfortunate thing is some of the best mods on the Nexus that many people keep in their load order forever require that patch but are not available for the most recent version of the game. Many players ability to mod games like Skyrim and Fallout are being locked behind a single mod author who seems to be in cahoots with Bethesda

Some tie in to the TV show would have made a lot of sense... But it also would have required some effort and vision and sadly that is something that is completely lacking at Bethesda these days.
I have zero faith left in Bethesda after seeing this. Todd brought us amazing games but he seems to be complacent and unwilling to say "We need to make a drastic change"...I loved Bethesda games and this update has been hyped for a lot of people. I think Bethesda needs a shake up. I look back and will never forget the good days but it's clear someone needs to step in and make some major moves. I preorder Bethesda games but with Elder Scrolls I see the game being very safe, very inclusive and boring like Starfield was. Cyberpunk. BG3, Forbidden West...Fallout 4 was OK and Starfield was a bust(I did play 100+ hours but don't see them doing anything to make me play the expansion I already paid for) I want Bethesda to win but at this point I don't trust them because of how much I question what they are doing. They are doing it wrong in every way these days. Bethesda needs to look to the future and stop living in the past. Sorry Todd.
Tbh, I think their engine has just caught up with them. Starfield epitomizes that. There are obvious hard limits to what the creation engine can do, it breaks practically every time it updates, and you can’t modernize it much more than it already has been. Bethesda is a victim of its own success in a way. It’s leadership is used to making its games on this one engine, and I’m sure are worried that they’d struggle with trying to develop or adopt a new one tailored to its games. Meanwhile, its player base knows the ins-and-outs of the engine, arguably better than Bethesda at times, which has created a prolific modding culture around their games. Mods are largely what drive the success of Bethesda games nowadays, yet there’s no guarantee that Bethesda could offer the same level of moddability on a different engine, and there’s no doubt that the time it would take for players to learn how to tinker with that new engine would be a huge hit to the modding scene. So, that success traps Bethesda in a way because they’re too afraid to move on from CE, yet Starfield has made it abundantly clear that it’s really at its limit. I hope ES6 isn’t being developed on it, but it probably is, and if it is, they’re again going to drag out this ultimately necessary transition, and be forced to contend with another absolutely broken release.
@@lif6737 The engine itself isn't an issue, if you knew anything about it or listened to people who know about it, the you wouldn't be repeating that copypasta. Certain parts of the engine (freaking papyrus) and how they lab it is the issue.

What I found was that my mods in the Main Menu area for the Mods were all gone, however, when I started my load file everything was still running. I then went to the Mod section while in game and all my mods were shown running and were visible to see in the mod section in game. Went back to the Main Menu and searched one of the non visible mods (after taking pictures) and found the mod still downloaded and applied in game, just not listed in my library. Even deleting and re-downloading did not re-add it to my library list, however, when I added it to my favorites and restarted the game, it was added to a favorite list. I recommend checking this out and see if just taking pictures of your mod list while in game and searching/adding mods to favorite will help with knowing what mods you have. It could just be a small bug with the listing in the "My Library" file/folder/section. Hope this helps, pass the word if I am right. (I run this game on PC through Xbox game pass)
They proved again and again that no one in Bethesda gives a flying f about mods and modding community... Actually, it's kinda obvious that Todd & co truly hate modders and players in general.
How Bethesda has not yet learnt to work with modders is beyond me. All they had to do was work with the script extender team and most people would be fine. A nearly decade old game shouldn’t be basically broken for many pc players due to some minor bug fixes and some content nobody really wants. Happy for console players, pissed for pc players.
@@WayStedYouI’ve heard from another comment about something to do with the script extender having a library thing behind it to prevent conflicting too hard with majority of mods with F4SE, apparenlty due to the state of Skyrim after the CC updates crashing mods consistently. On console the mod menu is kinda messed up right now, there’s a bug where it’s dropped the mod storage to 0bytes. They’re updating the mod menu and that’s a consequence of that. It will be fixed soon
@datboicasino you mean when their creation engine actually worked because the games back then were more simple. Todd even said in an interview that nothing gets past him without his approval. What kind of leader needs to give his stamp of approval on everything, it limits creativity and destroys innovation. Todd is an outdated boomer that hasn't kept up with the times to learn to step aside for a better engine.

I just used stealth, and sniped them from long range, then ran away until they stopped looking for me, went back, and sniped them again, until they all died.
