I think Fallout 3's absolutely bleak interpretation looks fantastic because it wholeheartedly and uncompromisingly commits to it, and the end result is fantastic, a world as bleak and nightmarish in appearance as it is in the lore, (and it makes sense DC had it so bad) But Fallout 4 is a game with commitment issues, trying simultaneously to be cartoonishly vibrant, and bleakly dead and devastated, 76 on the other hand completely commits to this bright, vibrant style and also looks better than 4 as a result. So when playing 4 I either go for a foliage mod, or a lighting mod like Moribund World depending on which look I prefer.
Love it. Came back to the vid to comment this setup is awesome. Completes the way I felt it should be in my mind after 200 years. Thanks for sharing this
I like to start out with vanilla landscape and calamity weathers. Around January (in game), I enable icepick overhaul along with calamity weathers winter plug-in. Then, around April (in game) I disable those two again and switch to verdant wasteland. This looks great though. I might just have to try it.
Apart from being cool living greenery makes more sense, given within 200 years vegetation definitely would come back to a place after nuclear devastation as most plants wouldn’t be affected by the the small amount of long term radiation nukes give off (e.g modern day Hiroshima and Nagasaki have thriving plant life still even though it’s only 80ish years later)
Could you do a graphical overhaul that wouldn't be focused on performance and just basically going all out. Awesome vid btw I'm currently using the mods you recommended.
I agree. I run just over 1gb on landscape and textures on my xbox. I was blown away at the 970mb price tag of Another green mod. Think I'll stick with Another pine forest.
Personally i wouldnt have gone with Luxor's ENB, for me its a bit too bright? overexposed? I wouldve gone with Quantum Horizons probably. Good video though, i was curious what tree mod you prefer.
Hey man I feel annoying but it’s only because I love that combat rifle mod would u consider to lengthen the short barrel a bit since it fires 5.56 now if so I truly believe that would be the best weapon mod for fallout 4
I know this may be a long shot but how to do you change the water on PC using this water mod. It's on Caribbean blue and I can't figure out how to change it.
a series of mods I can recommend are the No Quest Auto Start series. They stop quests like Fire Support, Automatron, Far Harbor and Vault Tec from starting automatically when you reach their leveled start. They only start now when you listen to the radio signal that they emit. Much more immersive, won't take up an esp slot and lets you handle dlcs or quests when you want rather than when the game tells you to.
I've been using borealis and it's awesome. don't notice any performance hits, and instead of just making the whole game green across the board it changes up the areas to have actual distinct themes and biomes. probably my favorite landscape mod so far.
I'm on console so space is limited, I have a pretty standard go to texture setup that works for me. Borealis does add some foliage, just not as a blanket effect. some areas are still more ragged and just dead, but others are full on marshes and swamps, some desert areas, and finally some snow/frozen tundra areas. My packs I use are borealis with the LOD patch, no fake puddles, charcoal roads, WET water enhancement(looks better but also removes a lot of the shiny effects on wet textures like armor, as well as improving the actual water effect and physics). Those few do a pretty good job at making the game look more varied without lagging out, but the main graphical mod I live by is NAC X. That mod coupled with borealis is truly amazing. I use this setup for my metro themed playthroughs
@@theobastiaan5943 sorry for long answer. short answer is yes, it does add foliage just not everywhere or super heavy. the reason I like it is because it makes sense where it puts things. not overdone in any way, perfect balance. I also love it for having an LOD as well as being basically a one mod and done as far as landscape goes.
I've read a lot of comments on "Another Green Mod", seems to be a lot of critique of its performance, an alternative to that mod that I play with are "Another Pine Forest" and "True Grass + half sized textures pack". The game still runs like a charm for me. (I play on PC, so I don't know if they are on Xbox)
Tbh a good alternative for Luxor's ENB if it really eats framerate would be DECENT ENB (not DECENT plus btw) it gives the game a more vibrant but not overbearingly neon look with NAC X. Imo looks way better than Vogue but also being way more performance friendly than other ENBs
Enjoyed, yesterdays look at this overhaul. Was, great to see what was used to achieve it! Great, Vid Dak. Very, cool Mods! by these talented Authors. Cheers - Jass.
This is the great thing about the modding community for Fallout 4, there are soooo many options. LOL I've basically been doing the same thing for a long time now due to my GTX 970, using completely different mods: *Fallout 4 Enhanced Color Correction* by ChaosWWW, *Vivid Fallout* - *All in One* by Hein84, *Springtime Trees* (with 2048x1024 downgrade patch)by foreverasir, *Grasslands* by Doodlezoid (and *Grass Reworked* by flecked), *Clean Water of the Commonwealth* by Feyawen, *Lily Pads and pond scum remover* by luxor8071, *Insignificant Object Remover* by AKcelsior, *Boston FPS Fix* by BetaVirus, and *Faraway Area Reform* by SparrowPrince.
The way I figure it, besides Chernobyl proving that nature doesn't die like Beth nuked it, it's just the ridiculously upbeat and cutsie *tone* of Fallout 4 that doesn't fit the aesthetic Beth went for. People are too happy. You're constantly making farms for people to work the land. It's all so weirdly Disney happy in a Fallout universe. So, thus, my choice of a happy vibrant springtime aesthetic change balanced by some FPS helpers. All it needs is to reskin Gravy Train as Snow White, replace the Minutemen with dwarves, toss in some creature mods for bluebirds and bunnies, and you're good to go! Fixed it, Beth! LOL
Try it and find out, ever PC setup is different and the condition of the parts affects it also. So no one can really give you a solid answer...but 8gbs of ram is pretty low for today considering windows uses roughly 2.5 to 3 GBs just idling
i used to run this setup before getting a 3080, honestly you'll be looking at 40-60fps on low/medium settings, this game makes my pc struggle and its high end, when i had a modded game on my 1050 id see minimum 35fps, its downtown boston you'll see allot of drops in frames, near the vault is where your fps will be highest
nac and fallout 4 vr dont work well together. its problem over problem. besides flickering, night being eighter to dark or to bright and always plopping dark at 22h, its the brightness and the color that feels off. its like thinking "okay, iam inside this world" and the next second its like "okay, but no real place ive ever been to look like this, everything feels colored, bright spots are eighter overbright, while dark spots in shadows, feel to bright. its hard to explain, anyway, the constant flickering in your peripheral vision is making me crazy, nac is going out
For Xbox One use Tookie's Textures - Grass And Plants it does the same as and more than Luxor's Greenery 2k. The plants don't have that bright saturated green look that Luxor's has and are more realistic. It's also for PC.
doesnt look like wasteland anymore but we can say that trying to make common wealth a better place they plant trees and taking care of nature.. its nice nature
I know im 2 years late but I just found this vid from my favorite fallout RU-vidr, and upon watching this ive already discovered im already using these mods on xbox, except I use true storms. Thanks Dak!
He was like people on Lauren PCS or even people on Xbox he didn't even mention people on PS4 I'm over here on my freaking machine sounded like a leaf blower when it powers on yeah hopefully of your suggestions on here will help me out since I'm trying to build a gorilla habitat enclosure inside home plate
for another green mod do you need the two main files if you have dlc, I mean does the dlc version include the one for commonwealth or are both required? It's a nasty sized download is why I ask... Edit: nvm I read the posts on the mod's page, dlc if you have dlc(it includes the main as well) and commonwealth if you don't run dlc...so one or the other depending.
I just got a pc and made the switch from Xbox. Was wondering if overgrowth would drop to much In frame rate and would it work right with the others you have mentioned?
Recently I have been interested in adding green into the Commonwealth, but not wanting to tank my performance. So this video seems perfect for me! Thanks Dak!
There was this mod i found thats brand new on the xbox, it makes the commonwealth full of lush pines and connifers and it just looks really good. I fkrgot it name though. It was something lik Another Pine tree mod
*WARNING* : *Regarding NAC X Legacy Edition* , I had to stop using this mod due to bugs. At first glance, it's a truly awesome mod. I wish I could love it and use it! However, there were two significant sets of bugs that forced me to uninstall it. The first was the ENB / recolor aspect sometimes gets locked into horrifically bad states. Even quitting and restarting don't fix, like its settings go wonky in a save file? Up until that point it was awesome. Then it was annoying to adjust its own settings to combat its own bugs. BUT then I got into late-game character play. The weather seems to level-up with the character. By late game I was being time warped and meteor struck *constantly* no matter how many times I'd turn off those weathers, blacklist them from being used, etc. in the settings they just kept coming back! Honestly, I suspect it doesn't even use its own settings for allowed weathers. It made the game just flatly annoying to play. So I'd love to love NAC X LE ... but it badly needs some bug fixes ... except the author seems to not want to fix it. "I'm retiring from Fallout 4 modding after 5 years of work." Well, great. Love the effort and enthusiasm ... but not the support. Would have been nice had this been handed to someone to maintain. So, maybe you'll be lucky and never experience these problems? But if you do, well, I tried to warn you. LOL
RU-vid compression does mess with stuff for sure (sucks when showing graphical mods) but luckily this build can be customized and the enb isn't necessary
