When this starts playing again after you kill the mirelurk Queen it’s the most badass thing ever. It sounds like triumph. You just took back the Minutemen’s home. Your home. I will admit I was a little disappointed that it was mirelurks and not raiders or some other evil human faction but after the battle it gave me this “we have slain the dragon” sort of feeling. It was awesome.
I agree I felt sooo sick to fat man the mirelurk queen after two failed attempts. I felt so patriotic even though I was with the weakest most boring faction.
It makes me feel like I just joined the Institute and Preston Garvey complains and then just shuts up and accepts it and I run both factions in the end game
The Minutemen had so much, much, much chance to be one of the greatest factions in Fallout history. A potential that felt squandered after you take down the Brotherhood or the Institute, should you wish to do so. A fantastic end-game quest wouldn't be taking down the Institute. But fighting all the other boogeymen in the Commonwealth to ensure everyone's safe. There should have been an end-quest to bring down the Gunners and reclaim Quincy, as well as taking the fight to their stronghold in Gunners' Plaza. To have Preston amass an army and attack Nuka World after the sole survivor finds out about the gangs and Gage's plans to take over the Commonwealth. To have the Minutemen establish a foothold on Far Harbor to help those in that little coast city to reclaim their island from the monsters skulking in the fog. I don't know. Those were missed oportunities.
Can we just take a moment and realize this. This theme is yours. It's ours as the player. You are the leader of this faction. You actually go out and make it stronger and when you listen to this. It makes you proud it makes you feel proud that this is what you accomplished. These are your soldiers, these are your lands. The Commonwealth relies on you. And your people the General.. and his soldiers
I hate the Minutemen, I despise them - really. Not for any in-game reason as such, but because Bethesda really dropped the ball with the writing at this point. Why? Because it wouldn't EVER work. How has Preston such extensive knowledge about ongoing events? He wasn't even particularly important with the Minutemen before their downfall. For that matter, how do they exchange information at all? By courier? Long-range radio doesn't seem to be a thing, after all. Oh, and for some mysterious reason, the guy who couldn't even hack an 'easy' terminal right at the beginning has no freaking problem rebuilding one of the Fallout's universe most shockingly awesome post-war technology ever? It's stupid.
Because you seem to confuse arguing with braying like a donkey, friend. Writing stuff like 'are you that Naive and Childish' as well as 'your dumb ass' doesn't exactly strike me as being calm. A) Doesn't explain anything on an operational level. B) And yet he 'gets word' of settlements being attacked by raiders long before that. I wasn't referring to the absence of radio messages or broadcasts in general. I was only saying that virtually no Minutemen settlement has radio equipment to call for help. Good thing Preston can hear them crying for help up in Sanctuary. C) He struggles with it even after you kill all the Raiders in the building. You also fail to explain how Sturges manages to replicate the teleportation device. All the other stuff you wrote about Synths is essentially inconsequential to the discussion at hand.
"How has Preston such extensive knowledge about ongoing events." Have you taken a look at the world? It's not hard to know what's going on in the Commonwealth Wasteland. Also, they have Diamond City Radio so... "For that matter, how do they exchange information at all? By courier? Long-range radio doesn't seem to be a thing, after all." What are you talking about? There are radio stations everywhere. And once you take The Castle back, Minutemen Radio can reach you anywhere in the Commonwealth. "the guy who couldn't even hack an 'easy' terminal right at the beginning has no freaking problem rebuilding one of the Fallout's universe most shockingly awesome post-war technology ever?" He was given schematics, and when living in Quincy he was a Power Armor builder along with the Atom Cats. It's not hard to believe that Sturges could build a machine when he has the plans for it.
I will take note in that the Minutemen are among the most pure hearted faction in Fallout 4. They are fiercely dedicated to helping people in need and making the world a better place. I will also admit that it is an empowering feeling to be the general. You rebuilt the Minutemen from the ground up and uphold the honor and integrity that the Minutemen were built on.
Only pure hearted? They can become the strongest faction in the commonwealth. The best part is when you chopped the minutemen's head (general), they would not die. You destroy the castle, they still wouldnt die. Other settlements would help recapture the castle.
@@darnit1944 I wish this were the case but historically every time a General dies the Minutemen kind of go to shit for a while. It's inspiring that they keep on coming back, but I think as a standalone faction they're somewhat limited. I think they work best as a militia that bolsters the goals of another faction. If you are willing to headcanon a bit with the endings, I think the Institute ending where all of the bad actors in the Institute (chiefly Ayo and Father) are gone (achievable in game) and you retain the actual decent people in the Institute who want to help the Commonwealth (Holdren, Binet and Li) AND maintain good relations with the Minutemen under your command is the best ending. You're both General and Director, the Institute's more horrific policies will be pretty easy to stop now that Ayo and Father aren't there to push for them, and you can use the Institute's scientific advancements to aid in the Minutemen making the surface a better place to live for all.
@@JB-xl2jc If Obsidian wrote FO4, we could have gotten that option. Along with toppling Maxson as the Elder, reequipping the minutemen so they wont look like peasant with pipe guns and instead became a real army, and more.
@@darnit1944 Actually a couple of those were in the game files (Beth wrote a quest where Danse would, if the player emboldened him, challenge Maxson for the position of Elder, as he felt Maxon wasn't treading the right path. The end of that quest would appear to have ended up with the possibility of the player becoming Elder, though that's not there in-game and wasn't fleshed out. You do get an option to sarcastically tell Maxson you're gunning for his position, but that's all). As for the Institute, you can actually do pretty much everything I said in game. It is just stuff that will take a while to happen. You can replace Ayo in game, and that leaves the Directorate as Binet (extremely pro-synth and loyal, decent man), Holdren (extremely decent person and loyal, also has a "Join the Railroad" tape in his wastebin that he didn't turn into the SRB, so probably pro-synth), Li (openly laments about the cloak and dagger Institute stuff and how they don't help the people of the surface more, so will likely support any initiatives you make to reform the Institute), Filmore (extremely loyal, tells you "I hope you can come to trust and rely on me to the same degree that Father did" and will likely support any initiative you put forward so long as it doesn't endanger the Institute), and Secord (brand new in her position and openly states a desire for additional cooperation between the divisions, also ceases forceful synth retention on unwilling synths). That pretty much means that if you want to reform the Institute, you'll get very little pushback from these folks. They're all pretty decent- and that's all possible in game. The real problem with FO4's endings is that they just sort of .... end. There's no slideshow, you only get a couple of dialogues with the top players of each faction after the end. It's just not very fleshed out. Wish they had done more there. But, in short, they actually DID put a lot of stuff into it, they were only hamstrung by people wanting to continue playing after the ending (something Fallout NV did NOT have and thus it made a slideshow a lot easier).
Remember, The NCR started small. Imagine if the Minutemen claims some parts of the East, The Legion will be sandwiched by both NCR and the Minutemen. Unless canonically, the sole survivor becomes the Overboss, then forget it, its over. Fortunately for me, I let the Minutemen take over Nuka World Hohoho, we strong af
And I'd love to see the followers of the Apocalypse working with the minutemen instead of the NCR because someday they will realize that the NCR only fight for their benefit while the minutemen fight for those who need it
Look out on the ruins of Boston and what is it you see? Diamond city? A great green jewel arisen from the remnants of an old baseball stadium with a stable economy, food production, water supply, electricity and a military force alongside an even rarer resource in the wastes: an education? Goodneighbour? A reinforced set of alleys for the downtrodden and the outcasts with what would be a gang in charge if it didn't have the best interest of its people in mind? Bunker hill? A shining spire reaching for the sky serving as both a reminder of the past and a beacon for the present smack in the middle of every major trading route in and out of the city, the true artery of Boston? Or perhaps you see the Slog, Warwick homestead, Abarnathy farm or any of the other minor settlements scattered across the wastes trying to carve a place for them to survive? Aye, the commonwealth is all those things, and yet... so much more. Do you know what I see? I see the foundation for a nation, all it needs is a little push. This is why I support the minutemen above all others, raising them from the ashes and helping them rebuild both themselves and those around them. Provide Boston with a military force not there to intimidate and suppress like the institute, or bully and threaten like the Brotherhood or hide in the shadows and deny their own existence like the railroad. No, a Bostonian military of its own making, of its own sons and daughters, securing safety and stability for their homes, families and friends. Securing the birth of something bigger than any of them. If I am allowed to take it one step further beyond the games and enter roleplay levels, I see my character help establish a stable government of allied settlements with the minutemen providing support and safety until this newly formed nation can muster its own force and the minutemen are no longer needed. To root out the raiders, gunners and super mutants. To show the institute the strength of a terrorised people. To let the brotherhood know that even with all their weapons and convictions, their arrogance and fanaticism will amount to nothing. And the railroad, they will be assimilated slowly but surely since they will be forced to realise that if they want to make the world safe for synths, they will need to deal with exterior threats and supporting the main force is the best way to get around doing that. This is what I believe is the best option for the commonwealth, this is what I strive towards.
nay, brother. when i look out into the Commonwealth; past the lights of Diamond City and the smoke rising from Goodneighbor's fire barrels burning long into the night, out into the wilderness beyond...... i see promise. progress and hope; that one day the Commonwealth, and by extension all of America, will rise anew. for like the United States long ago, the Commonwealth; and places beyond, are new frontiers teeming with adventure and mystery. frontiers, that we must settle and build up, if survival is to be at all possible. but what saddens me is the sole fact that our compatriots within the Brotherhood of Steel, and our 'enemies' within the Institute would brazenly refute this. for all they can see is the folly of man. they aren't dreamers like you or i; but militants and scientists. admirable skills, but in a time where someone capable of creation is more necessary for rebuilding our nation, they aren't very useful skills. however.....they can be used another way. if swayed to agree with the Minutemen, the Brotherhood and the Institute could help the rebirth of Massachusetts with the Minutemen's guidance. the simple thought of it. the Dreamers, the Soldiers, and the Critical Thinkers, all working towards a common goal! unity. i long to see that day come, Brother. until then however, i leave you. General Kyle Alexander Shepard, Blood Wolves Security Consulting
You sound like a Minuteman. Have you heard of an event called Wasteland Weekend? I am General Muster of the Wasteland Minutemen, a new tribe to Wasteland. I would love to have you if you'd be willing. It might be a bit too late for this year, September 26th to the 30th, but perhaps next year. Contact me and we can discuss.
Elderrion, YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I got a ton of Minutemen rebuilds US scenarios here. Oh, btw there is a start menu showing the castle with this theme playing
It played right after I finished building my giant tower, complete with power, working elevators, and 3 stories, each used for a different thing. First story: Residential area. Second story: Trade district. Third story: Owner's penthouse
I wish you could take a squad of Minutemen with you to Nuka World during the 'Open Season' quest (The optional quest where you wipe out the raiders of Nuka World) and the Minutemen can claim Nuka World.
There are plenty of mods to take a squad with you, also find a mod to spawn a workshop down anywhere and found the minutemen settlement guards it will make the minutemen own it not officially tho
idk, _Nuka World_ was pretty fun _because_ I did everything up to the point where the raiders wanted to take over every settlement, and I was like _"...you mean _*_my_*_ settlements?"_ and wiped out every raider faction single-handed.
I feel like the Railroad is the only other group fighting for a good purpose. The Brotherhood is racist, and the Institute is pure evil. If you play your cards right, you can side with both the Minutemen and the Railroad
@@00persianot me transforming every minutemen settlement into a soviet outpost, giving every settler an uniform, service rifle and armor for the guards... hell, i even installed a fortifications mod and started placing bunkers and trenches all over
@@comradestefan7244 me but turning most of the settlement into Enclave-Minutemen militarized coalition outposts to make my gameplay immersive since I have Enclave resurgent installed and since I'm both member of Enclave in America Rising and Minutemen General
I live the fact that this plays in sanctuary only when you’ve recruited a ton of settlements and have an army that’s the only time this theme plays to sort of say “hey you did it your taking back the commonwealth and making it a better place” and after you take back fort independence
we should all go to comic Con as minute men and help random people and respond to everything with for the Commonwealth!!!! and then pick a fight with people dressed up as anything that is a bad guy
“If the people of the commonwealth were to stand together to form a common cause, we could rebuild what was lost. If we stand together, United, we can drive out the raiders, mutants, gunners, and any other living thing that threatens us. We are the Minutemen, and we are for the commonwealth!”
I was pissed off at what happened to the BoS after Elder Lyons passed away when they were so awesome in Fallout 3, so I went with the Minuteman and I chose wisely looking back. Now all of my settlements are fortresses and have nuclear artillery to ward off any invaders.
A lot of times I like to take off my general uniform, put down my Gauss rifle and put on just the Minuteman outfit(ballistic weave just to be safe) and the militia hat, and grab a normal three crank later musket...and pretend that I'm just another minutemen. I feels as if I am part of the Minuteman faction...and not just the overpowered general. I am a Minuteman.
After reading a lot of these comments, it fills my heart with hope. In the games that gives you opportunities galore to be as evil as you can be, you chose to be the hero, to bring peace and prosperity the people. To come with love and mercy, with compassion and kindness. I like to envision that such great people also bring your generous hearts into the real world, as it gets darker every day
I hope so, but I doubt it. Bethesda has too much of a hard-on for the brotherhood, chances are the minutemen will barely be mentioned, but the brotherhood will show up again and this time with even more high tech technology taken straight from their ass.
The only problem with that is that the sole survivor had to lead that faction to glory and since it's a choice which gender you are it would have problems
K1NG W01FF They never confirmed which gender the lone wanderer from f3 was. Moira Brown just made a book years later saying he or she was mysterious and to let history decide or something like that
The fact that a random ass modder easily, easily defeats a entire company full of highly trained, professional developers with paychecks and degrees is embarrassing and still now the humiliation continues
My ideal headcanon for Fallout 4 is a minutemen victory resulting in them reforming the Commonwealth Provisional Government in the long term, becoming the east coast equivalent of the NCR.
The amount of goosebumps i get from this is unreal. The minutemen are by far one of the best factions in the fallout universe. As fucking irritating as it was being assigned to saving a new settlement, i would still prefer these guys over the railroad. Always remember these words, lads. You're listening to Radio Freedom: the voice of the Minutemen!
The Minutemen in the sense we know the actual organization specifically were first in place in 1774, but the men that comprised the first Minutemen regiments had been prior militia for the region, those militias dating back a couple hundred years.
After all the hours i sank into this game, the game that started my love for this series years ago, the raiders i fought, the companions i grew strong bonds with and loved like they were real, the impact this game and series had on me as a person, the betrayals. The good parts. The bad parts. And everything in between, although. I caught word that a settlement needs our help here ill mark it on your map
Adam Oliphant if you continue to work with the Brotherhood, the Railroad will become hostile to you. On the other hand if you go undercover into the Institute for the Railroad, you will eventually make the Brotherhood hostile.
I know that as part of one of the last missions, who you do it for means that one of the factions will become hostile, but I generally play as all of them simultaneously up to that point.
Nice Facts: If you Go to Settlements that you have Late for Saving/Helping. There Will be A Chance Random Minutemens That is Looks like Saving/Helping those Settlements. Maybe
I was sooo hooked with the minutemen that in the course of the whole game build a system in wich settlers who came to the castle became sort of new volunteer recruits for the minutmen and started building up an massive army All were armed to my standard issue equipment wich is 1. A laser musket (no matter wich attachments) 2. Minutmen uniform 3. Helmet combat or army 4. Combat vest The veterans (the ones who helped capture the castle) recieved more armor then volunteers And i would spread my soldiers out to big settlements acting as guards for those settlements
It's so awesome when i go out there with Squad of Minuteman behind me, following me, fighting alone side me and preston. I really feel like I'm the real General
So many hours listening to this while building the castle...this takes me back to 2015/2016 when I was in school and my free time was consumed with Fallout 4..
We can all admit that, despite that one settlement marked on your map that you don't have motivation to help at that point in time... Hearing this music once you report back to Preston is totally worth it :>
i like to think that after my sole survivor rebuilt the minutemen and made the commonwealth into a much safer place, they would try make that "commonwealth provisonal government" thing again, and then the people would be in control of there lives with the minutemen acting as a peacekeeping force. UNITED WE STAND!
generic then they re open the nuka cola bottling plant and cause massive inflation, vote in massive taxes to counter the depression, construct a welfare state to counter that, then scarcity of resources sparks another war... .
Hearing this music while rebuilding the Castle with my own hands fills me with a feeling I’ve never had from a video game. Most epic theme in all of Fallout in my opinion.
When the Minutemen shows up in any Fallout game or any event, it is game-changing. Their numbers grew so big everywhere and they're so awesome it is like the reverse of Raiders.
@@nou2786 if your on ps4 its on the creation club it cost $7:99 but its totally worth you get 3 new minutemen paint jobs for all types of power armor and once you retake quincy some minutemen that were in the battle stay and live there so if makes quincy feel alive.
United Settlements of America, the NCR of the east, leaded by President (your Sole Survivor name) and General Garvey. IDK why I wrote this the idea just came to my mind
sadly I dunno if this should take it personally as a theory or not.. or canon possibilities (??) !! (sorry spoiler allert...).. ..................... ................................ >............................. .......................... >.............................. >............................... ............................. >............................. there is a mod called outcast and remnants which is labelled garvey as a "traitor".. he is an agent, a spy from enclave remnants that infiltrate minutemant ranks .. and he is responsible for quincy massacre these group of enclave even make contact with some secret vault in a bunker (under the sea) yeah.. maybe we put aside this as a serious idea for the next canon game
I always found it curious that the only faccciones in which you end up as leader are the minutemen or the institute I still believe that any of those two are the canonical end and you choose, it's one or the other, with the minutemen you can destroy the institute but you can keep all the other factions with you or with the institute you can side with the minutemen and destroy the others factions and take the commonwealth. The end of the intitute is the one that seems most curious for me since the others are very predictable, but with them you literally can end up as the leader of the most ''good'' faction and at the same time of the most ''evil'' faction I put it in quotes because that depends a lot on who is playing, I believe that there is neither good nor bad only different points of view, that's why I side with the intitute. I do not seem Maxson and Desdemona as good leaders, both are extremist and chaotic, we could say the same about Shaun, but considering that we ended up replacing him the institute is the better option. I believe having control of the two factions the peace of the commonwealth is assured since the decisions at the end will depend on us and we will not have to give an account to anyone in the future, a far-fetched end where enemy factions remain at peace because we as players we do missions in a very specific order is a very foolish end and a false peace.
One mod I would make would be to have a former NCR veteran ranger join the Minutemen as an officer, and he would offer missions where the Minutemen seize control of the military bases. This would establish fortified bases for Minutemen troops, and make the patrols better-equipped… including some power-armored heavies.
Minutemen : The heart of an all good benevolent God with the might of a malnourished child. It's easy to be good when you are strong but not when you are the weakest and most injured.
"lead the commonwealth for the right direction with as little sacrifice as possible. " Eradication of the Institute. It may be a small compensation, compared with total amount of the synth victims of the world that does not exist sole survivor.
I don't get how some people hate the minutemen....I think it's because you have to build them from the Ground up bc the other Faction already have everything
Imagine this song playing in Sanctuary Hills, which has been fully restored and lives over 30 residents, in Fort Independence, which has literally become "God Castle". this imagination gives me big hope of the future that good old Boston is completely back and the world is heading in the right direction again
