Welcome to The Alley. Hancock has relocated for a quieter life as bartender and boss of this red light district in Hangman’s Alley. The Minutemen stop by from time to time, and MacCready has a running tab which he hasn’t paid on in two weeks.
I decided to put Cait there instead of Hancock and call the place Cait's Cocktails. I also made it look quite a bit different, but the thing with the sign and frame is inspired so I copied a little bit.
@@patrickedwards2173 I don't really stream nor have the time to do so. Playing games is just a way to unwind after a long day for me. But you may get a kick out of some of the names for the shops I set up. The weapons shop is Shoot Your Load. The armorer is Always Use Protection. The medic is Just A Little Prick. The general store is Show Me Your Junk. The clothing store is The Complete Package.
The punishment room (edit: 6:36) was a particularly nice touch. Overall, very tight build, well designed, perfectly themed. From one longtime builder to another, well done. Award-worthy in my view.
Outstanding work! I always loved Hangman's Alley, but you gave it a super realistic feel. I would actually live there! I'm also impressed with how you hand placed all the items. Love it!
Thanks very much! This has to be one of my favorite builds 👍 glad you enjoyed it I’m working on a large settlement at Starlight right now, and I will be studying your build to swipe some ideas 🤘 It is “favela” style. Really dense, with passages going all directions and homes throughout. I’m about halfway with the construction and haven’t begun to decorate. Might not finish for a while. Thx again and cheers!
Great work. Good layout and no use of creation club. Apparently creation club counts as mods to some people regardless that the game doesn't remove achievements for it. 😅. Probably why my hangman's alley video did so poorly. Honestly i think ya did it more justice. Awesome clutter and lighting.
Thanks! I appreciate you checking out the build. I also learned most of my techniques from Skooled Zone. Pillars and rugs make almost anything possible 👍
As much as I’m sat here questioning just how much of a pervert you’d have to be to come up with this concept…I absolutely adore the pun shop names 😂😂😂 “His & Herpes”
I am a bit late, but I am glad that I found this Video! It is really inspiring, it is how I always wanted my Hangman's to be, but was to lazy to work hard on it. But it gave me some new ideas
very nice use of a troublesome space. If the game would let us get into the actual buildings we could do more with hangman's alley. But you did incorporate the surrounding buildings nicely.
Thanks! Access to some doors and rooms in the base game would have made this location really great, but I generally don’t try to overbuild hangman’s alley. Except for this one of course 😉
Thx kindly! I’m glad you got to check it out. I think the algorithm caught this one and recommended it a bunch. It got a lot more views than some of my others 🧐
@@patrickedwards2173 I thought they were perfect for red light district. "His and Herpes" amused me, I'm an RN and worked for a short time in the sexual health clinic lol lol. 🙂
Thanks man I appreciate it! I began the build on an xbox1 a while back. No mods used so I must have been at the top of the limit. I was able to put walls and a roof on my highest rooms, but it wouldn’t let me hang lights or anything else from the ceilings.
Yes! No mods used for this build. The xbx makes the game run so much better when building I was able to expand a lot, and it came out just like I wanted it to. Thanks for checking it out. Cheers!
Thanks! I’m not sure how long I worked on it really…. I built it a few years ago but abandoned it. When I got a new xbx I started looking thorough old builds and thought I should resurrect it. The truth is I’ve been tinkering with it on and off for a while. Parts that I initially built I ripped out and started over. Changed rooms around. Lightbulb goes off in my head and I try to create something weird. Typical for my scattered brain😂
I think main problem of this settlement is "why we can't just remove junk bloking doors and windows in surrounding brickwall houses"? I Tried this by useing scrap mod and it's worked main problem is no "NavMech" there.... Tried to do with "modder prog" (forget how it's named (it was years long ago)), but settlers not going there so i skiped that idea....
I recommend watching “let’s build” videos for inspiration. It will also teach you a few techniques to use like pillars and rugs, which will make a big difference in how you design and create your settlements. Happy building scavver!
Hi, your build is very cool and composed by plenty of little elements, I particularly liked the bookshelf in the toilet😆. But i was curious how did you do all of this in vanilla, can u give me some commands or tips. Because I didnt understand how u did the texts for the shops or the other with alk the names and the red light. Sorry for asking so much things😅
Hi Moonz. Thanks for checking the build 👍 So I used plenty of techniques to build all of this. Pillars and rugs are the most important tools, but many items will snap together if you fiddle around enough. There are many tutorials for using them on YT. The lettering for the signs is placed on weapons racks. They attach the same way as if you were hanging them on a wall. I use weapon racks to fill gaps in walls, and to make the signs. Remember, if the spot you want a sign won’t let you hand or snap a weapon rack, just group select it with a pillar and try to put where you want that way. I know my description leaves out a lot of info, but if you learn to use pillars and rugs, almost anything is possible. You can also hang a weapon rack on a wall, put some neon letters on it, then grab the weapon and move it to a new location. The letters should stay on the rack when you do that. I learned mostly through trial and error to see what workshop items can be handled in different ways. And I watched a lot of tutorials. Check out this guy youtube.com/@SkooledZone?si=LNsbkRAG23s9JUiW Good luck👍 Happy to answer more questions if you have them.
@@patrickedwards2173 wow thanks for ur answer, all the techniques seems complicated. I discover place everywhere so I think i will use it. It s very intresting to see how the no mod community managed to build despite all the problem that the builder mod has
That’s a good mod. My favorite thing about it is the ability to resize objects. I use that on a lot of signs and posters when I’m dressing up the builds. Cheers!
Its been a while scince you posted this but Im wondering if you could tell me how you made you own words on the signs cuz I want to make light up signs saying the towns name at the entrances
Hey there. So I’m guessing you are wanting signs that have the neon letters on them. First you need a sign to hang the neon letters on. When I need to make one I use the long weapons racks. They snap to each other to they are easy to use and shape, but you have to get the first one hung in place to snap the next one to. That may be your tricky spot to having a free standing sign at the front of your settlements, unless you already know how to use pillars to place things in locations the game doesn’t normally allow. You can always just hang the neon on a wall that you have near the front of your settlement too, but I like the sign freestanding sign better. Try hanging the neon on one of the shack balcony railings and then using that as a sign. Looks pretty cool. Hope that’s helpful 👍
Hangman's is one of the more challenging builds in the game without mods so this is brilliant! Great to see a no mods builder achieve something this well done. Excellent work!
Agreed. It would have been great to have a workbench in an abandoned building, or under a bridge. When build with mods I always find a random cool spot somewhere in the commonwealth to build
This is why I use console commands to get the existing settlers out of the boring middle-of-nowhere settlements and into my interesting ones. I refuse to care about building a settlement at Tenpine’s Bluff.
I made the mistake of playing until 3AM after getting up at 5AM for woe because after being awake 22hrs, nothing was funnier than putting a candy sign on my pharmacy. This guys video would have had me comatose 😂
Wow...just extremely wow. The amount of work that had to go into this. The rug glitching, the frustrations that had to be felt through the process. Damn...this is so good.
Nice job, this build is the personification of Hancock, a creepy dude with creepy tastes. It beats my usual 3 beds and a bar build, by a country mile. I genuinely feel envious of people like yourself, that have so much creativity in their head, and are able to express it so succinctly, hats off to you sir. :)
I always imagined making Hangman’s Alley into a sort of red light district like this but was too lazy to get to work. This has motivated me a bit. Awesome build man.
You really nailed the lighting with this. It gives it all a very personal and genuine feel, like people actually have their lives here. Very cool. I'm inspired to elaborate on my alley.
@@casscatt7231 those are cycling lights. You will find them in the electrical tab under miscellaneous. They need to be wired directly, or you use the WiFi power glitch. And, you can change the colors around to whatever you like 👍
Hangman's is my favorite place to build!! Although it crashes quite a bit, i still love it, haha. I enjoyed the tour and all the unique details! Good job 👍
A wonderful mix of lighting and clever merging. These structures you've created belong here. This Is the best Hangmans Alley build I've seen I a very long time. ❤ 👍
Thank you EZE. Much appreciated. This build started two years ago, and I abandoned it when the old Xbox couldn’t take it any more. NextGen has opened up some old builds for expansion, and this one I knew I had to finish. Thanks again for checking it out 🤘
In my current playthrough I have been tasked by the RR to build Mercer Safe House at this location. Watching this video gives me the idea to disguise Mercer as something else. Not sure what yet. But this as definitely got me thinking. Terrific build! The beds merged with other furniture to create new items is a wonderful touch and also gives me some ideas to play with.
Thanks very much Matt! I had a lot of fun with this one, and I laughed too when some of it came together. Glad you enjoyed it 👍 Great drone footage you have on your channel! I bought a DJI mini 2 a couple of years ago, and I’m still messing around with my flying and filming, but I don’t practice enough. Had my first crash in a tree last week haha. Lucky it wasn’t damaged. Thanks again Cheers!
Dude, the Names of your spots are just the best! 👏👏👏 I was 😂🥹 just nonstop And the short bit of Hancock talking in the background; because you were in range, made it just that much more enjoyable.
Looks awesome, cool idea and great lighting. They should give some of us a shot at Location building imagine what the community could do with actual dev tools!
Hey thx! Glad you liked the build. Heck yeah the builder community would provide an endless amount of theme and style to possible locations on any map. The next fallout is going to need a lot of content. If they gave access to those tools they could farm design concepts for FO5 from the community.
I've been playing so long and just haphazardly made settlements because I didn't know at that time how to store things etc. or move settlers. I am looking at settlements recently and I don't have mods so I see what's possible and it's very encouraging. Thanks for the inspiration ☺️
This is by far the best Hangman's Alley build I've seen. The amount of details cramped into such a small space, and still looking spacious. I really like the red light district idea, and fits so well, I think. And of course the best place for Handcock!
Just gotta say the layout you've set up here is absolutely gorgeous. Thematics, lighting, everything, it is freakin' beautiful. I'm right at the beginning of a wastelander build at Hangman's and this is definitely inspiring. Great work!
Thx my friend! I appreciate it! I’m an over-50 builder like you, and I still enjoy creating things in FO4. Amazing game that has provided countless hours of fun. Your builds have great style too! I will watch through them for some inspiration of my own 👍 Thanks again!
@@patrickedwards2173 And thanks back! Been watching your work off and on for a while now, always great style going on. Mine have gotten better as I've played and learned. An eclectic eye so to speak, though I'm liking the wasteland direction I'm on right now. You could say the darker themes tend to catch my eye, lol..., As for FO4, it is most definitely an enjoyable game! It has allowed me the artistic outlet I'd been looking for. I've been on it at least once every day for 4 yrs out of the last 5. Obsession maybe, lol..., Good building to ya!
Yeah there's lots of little details, the water pump bath, the painting where it looks like heads on a shelf and i found the Gnome! i like hiding the Gnome in mine too haha
This is the best Hangman’s Alley build I’ve seen. It’s kind of hilarious the hired girls are saying settler lines. His and Herpes is perfect. love how you used the miner’s helmet on the mannequin as a spotlight. Everything is so clever.
The names of the shops are top tier!!! 😂😂😂 Hilarious. Great settlement and great use of space! Love it. I always used to build apartments there too. Just seems to make sense
@@patrickedwards2173 you really have to just to keep the NPC pathing good. I used the scrap everything mod for a lot of this settlement. But yeah. Apartments just make sense 😊
The store names are very clever. Side Piece is a kickass name for a store even ignoring the Red Light district theme. This is a very impressive settlement, I can never stick to consistent themes with most of my builds
Thanks very much! I have three boys who are all gamers, and we make jokes all the time about funny shop names or weapon names. I try to keep them from being corny or stupid, to a degree… Sometimes the names write themselves 😅 Thx again!
Thank you! This place works great for vendor markets if you can make them pretty small. Just a few can look pretty cool when you style them up. Cheers!
Thanks very much! The outfit is the marine wetsuit, which you can get from a quest line in the and the Far Harbor dlc, and the mannequin is in the raider decor tab under the operators selections. You will need the Nuka-World dlc for that one. Cheers!!
