Fallout 4-Settlement Build - Hangman's Alley

Welcome to Neon City. For the longest time, I've wanted to build a sort of "mini Goodneighbor" at Hangman's Alley. The end result is a somewhat seedy, noir feeling, neon lit settlement with the usual vendors, a restaurant, a bar.....and a brothel. Don't say you weren't warned :) I started with a mod called "Hangman's Alley Interior Apartments XB1" which changes two of the buildings to have interior spaces. I then proceeded to replace each piece of those buildings with their "Snappy Housekit" counterparts. The interior cells are provided by the mod "Fallout Settlements Expanded Plus." Without this mod, I never would've been able to pull this off, as the Hangman's Alley cells are very resistant to overbuilding. They tend to get buggy, rather easily. Hence, the limited number of settlers in the actual city area. The neon lights and signs are mostly from the mod "Better Stores," with a few from "Creative Clutter." I know the video is dark, in places, but I felt the due to the nature and feel of this place, it was better to show it at night.

This is a great bill. I love the neon, even though neons a bit of a stretch for the apocalypse. The the "live nude ghouls" sign cracked me up.

Thanks. Most of my builds are pretty far fetched considering the setting. Then again, it's a role playing game, so I just imaging that my character is helping to bring civilization back to the people.

That's a pretty swell Hangman's Alley build. By strange coincidence, this popped up in my recommended videos just as I'm finishing up my own Hangman's Alley build. The only Hangman's Alley specific mod I have for mine is this one Called Hangman's Alley Patch that just increases the build height to above the roofs of the surrounding buildings & fixes the navmesh so that settlers will actually go into the eastern half of the settlement. I went in a sort of opposite direction in terms of theme (mine is more of a reputable disreputable neighborhood, if that makes sense), but I still think it's kind of funny that we both ended up putting a bar/restaurant in the bottom floor of the 4-floor white brick building near the east end of the alley. I guess great minds think alike. ;)

Thank you. I used "Place Anywhere" to increase the size. It's amazing how handy that feature can be. It's almost like having new assets. One example: statues can be shrunk down to small shelf decorations. In my "Walled Settlement" build, I placed deathclaws in a pen (using the "Unlocked Settlement Objects" mod) then made them giant.

Beautiful build, man!!!!!!!!!! Can use a shit ton of mods I'm sure it'll spruce up the quality of your creations as your creativity already exceeds the game's limit.

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Trust me, as an XBOX user who's limited to 2 gb of mods, I wish I could add more. Because Hangman's Alley is so close to downtown, it's really easy to overbuild and crash the game. This area became completely bugged, shortly after I made this video.

@@Kutanamar Hehehehe do yourself a favor... Get a PC. I run GTA IV, V, Fallout 4, etc. all at more than their highest settings through mods and with a computer from 2011... so in the end, dirt cheap, fast as hell hahaha! You don´t want to stop your creativity, but the thing is you don't want videogames turning into vice at the same time haha, sure you kicked ass drawing as a kid, my man. Have a great one!

That looks really nice! A long time ago I had the mod that opens the 2 buildings. I had a lot of settlers then... Farming happened up on the roof.. I had problems trying to figure out what to do with all the new space. I haven't used that mod with Fallout 4 GOTY. Anyway - back to the tour of your settlement: there is some false advertising going on: where are the nude ghouls? None of the girls in that establishment are ghouls! You did a brilliant job in Hangman's Alley! I'm building in Far Harbor these days. I just added settlers to Dalton Farm. Then comes a period of watching: do they work? sleep? ...and then eventually there will be pictures.

Thank You. No nude ghouls, but, I thought the sign was pretty funny. :) I actually have a new Dalton Farm video that I need to post. It's pretty much just another one of my clean, pre-war style house builds. I like how it came out, though.

@@Kutanamar I just posted the pictures of Longfellow's Cabin bethesda.net/community/post/2357101 and have to make a video of it. I have build at Dalton Farm but haven't taken pictures yet. Not finished with checking up on sleeping settlers. And they have problems at Dalton and Longfellow's place - and nobody tells me what the problem is. They thank me for agreeing to help! That's going on for a while and it's driving me nuts! Because the happiness goes down and I can't do anything about it! I'm looking forward to your Dalton video! Keep up the good work!

@@Yunsuagi1 WOW!!! That Longfellow build looks amazing. That may be your best yet. A lot of my builds (the nice houses and such) I imagine that they were ruined houses that the settlers restored to pre-war conditions. Not all that lore friendly. (Of course, as I've said before, it's an RPG. "Lore" is what you make it.) Yours, however, actually look like post-war settlements. But nice, and clean, post-war settlements. Nicely done.

@@Kutanamar Thank you, kind Sir, for the compliment. It took quite some time to build - and I went "with the flow" of inspiration? or something. I started with the board walk repair.... The gym ended up on the beach because I didn't know where else to put it (could have gone into my shopping center - didn't like that idea). Didn't want to chop down trees.... I like the result. Have you seen my previous posts of my XBox 1 settlements at Longfellow's Cabin? I put links to them in the video description. Next on my to-do list is to get pictures and a video of Dalton Farm... I hope that the settlers there will be good and all go to sleep in beds! My settlements look nice and clean - and I prefer to use walls with good windows (undamaged). No idea where the settlers would get new glass!

What mods is it to get the tall buildings? Amazing settlement

Thank You. The tall buildings were already there. They were just empty shells. I used Snappy Housekit" to replace some of them with actual workshop walls. I also used FSE to add doors which load you into empty interior cells, for building. That's how I created the store and brothel.

"Fallout Settlements Expanded" is the mod I use for the load doors. They lead to an empty cell in which you can build. Great for interiors.

A mod called "Settlement_Markers by kitcat81." It adds (among other things) assignable animation mats for several different dances.

Ceiling could be nicer. But I don´t know if it is something you could even change. Very nice work other vice. Beats my lazy work.

@@Kutanamar Not a huge fan of that first bar you showed. (It´s ceiling that is. I don´t like it´s texture). Plus there are some rooms (like the one with green furniture and wooden walls), where walls kinda end suddenly and ceiling starts. Perhaps some type of molding would help? But these always come down to personal taste. If you like it, just leave it. Don´t fix what is not broken.

@@MY-se1jf The ceiling "texture" is actually just the other side of the floor piece. In some builds, I've added in separate ceiling and molding pieces. But, the options are limited. You work with what you have. I've always wished that there was some kind of snappable texture (like the wallpapers and floor coverings) that could be snapped to the ceilings. That would certainly allow for more variety. Additionally, I was limited in how many objects I could add to this area. The system was pretty taxed, by the time I finished. All of those separate ceilings and moldings might've been too much.

@@Kutanamar There is at least 1 mod that lets yo add to ceiling. www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20898.
