Tyler D The category he's in is called any%. In this category you are allowed to use glitches. The dialogue isn't hacked or sped up through commands, it's in French because the French version has the shortest words in it's dialogue which in turn allows him to skip faster. And I don't see any console commands being used, he starts up the game and doesn't open the console once.

The glitches weren’t just a coincidence, he used those as time to speed things up and console command.

I did something similar. Not on a speedrun, I was in a hurry to kill Kellogg and then go to bed. I ran up to him and shot him with a shotgun I customised.

That’s funny you say that for some reason I had to see it on a game I extremely appreciate after watching at least 20 speed runs it finally clicked like damn these guys are very impressive and do a lot of research and put frustrating hours of figuring this stuff out so it took a sec but I have mad respect for them now given they only broke the game throw game play not by code manipulation or cheat codes from any source

During the Kellogg section there is multiple loading. When we see the horizon after glitch exploitation and the time stops and starts. Surely glitch related loading times through choice of using a glitch should be counted. As that is part of the method. I get how real game loading times don't count but in this example we don't see the official game loading screen, so therefore should be seen as part of the glitch and part of the method? Glitch loads should be counted. It's like diving in football and then asking the ref to yellow card. You cheat once in a way that is accepted but then expect a bonus for doing it. The whole original argument for not counting load times is that it is the same for everyone so it's irrelevant. That's why the timer stops at end credits. But as soon as it becomes part of an exploited method it looses it's credibility. If it is seen as part of the skill to find glitch paths with loading to cut the time down then indeed the whole point of speed runs looses credibility. ... in my eyes ...

well.. errors and trial is one thing, but when you just decide to throw a mine in the corner of a wall, and then pick up another item, and then you can just jump over the wall and suddenly, you are in another room XD you got to be bored if yo manage to figure something like that out XD

jalliboy Like I said, trial and error via accident. It only seems weird because you're seeing it now all at once. In reality, you are seeing two years of accumlative and shared experiences and knowledge to show you what you are seeing. This is how every speedrun works. Accumulative knowledge shared amongst a group, and then improved uppon by said group.

jalliboy There are some instances where someone will know how an engine works (Bethesda has been using the same one for over 10 years, it's just tweaked) and will be able to predict patterns. Then all one needs to do is mess around a bit to see what happens. If the engine is similar, it will have similar exploits. That's another possibility.

it took me 5 days to get into the institute and 6 days to finish the main story. tho i sped thru it and skipped the side quests, i can say i still enjoyed the game so much.

Clayton Vaughn no he clearly did this with the best intentions and probably did break his record but his clock has multiple inconsistencies some in his favor some against him. Needs to be a better way to time it but what you described and what appears to happen seems like logically the best solution. It just starts before he can move after a load and when it autosaves it stops when the game itself is fully fluid and in motion. I'm saying his time is invalid as a result though I don't doubt if this is actually a fluid single play that the record is at or near what would be breaking his previous attempt. I'm not a governing body of these sorts of things just an observer who noticed a glaringly inconsistent clock. I appreciate your input and explanations though as it does make it easier to see why it was still accepted as a valid time.

I think it’s this weird bug involving aiming down sights and weird geometry which lets you reach hypersonic speeds. I’ve done it a few times by accident and gotten flung off skyscrapers.

@@gachaskitsandmemes6310 not really if you know what to do, since you can easily go from the vault, to saving nick, then to killing Kellogg in like a hour, and then depending on which faction you choose, the next like 20 missions needed to beat the game is like 7 hours if done well

throw a mine and melee it in vats then cancel the attack to set coordinates for you to be able to teleport too, then when you melee in vats somewhere else in the game you get teleported back to the mine. its quite simple once you know how

If you know what you're doing and have the right weapon, it can be insanely easy. Try either the Overseers Guardian (bought from the store in Vault 88) or a mini nuke launcher.

Mega Moist it’s a vendor glitch where basically you take one bullet and sell it back to that vendor as many times as you want without having to buy it so in that specific trade you can buy whatever you want if that makes sense

I think the process is, do a quick save and then quickly load a hard save, it’ll keep your progress and put you at the hard save, like quick traveling out of places which normally wouldn’t let you.
