Fallout 76: Prepare for Update - September 3rd - Legendary Crafting, Caravans, Season 18. 

Thanks Turtle. My biggest fear is crafting tons of SS armour the night before then legendary crafting gets delayed and I can’t move until December update 😂

For storing more secret service armor, you can add the ultra light build mod to the pieces you want to keep.

Last night, I went out and got six power armor frames and labeled them "PA- Spares #" (1 thru 6). Then I went to the Rusty Pick and bought ***Power Armor pieces. With the exception of the left leg, I filled up all the PAs and was able to store 300+ weight for 60 in the stash. Not great but good.

I marvel at Turtle. Speaking a language foreign to him he creates videos of unusual intelligence and uses the scientific method to evaluate everything in this game. A video game. A "game" that should probably only be played by children instead of grown adults, but here I am, playing it like a kid, but at least using the most intellectually adept supplier of information. He saves me a lot of time and work. He is the best game video maker in Fallout 76, hands down. I no longer even bother with other video makers. It is a waste of time. Come to The Turtle for solid information...

The best way to prepare is just to hold onto junk weapons with good modifiers. A bloodied wrench had just as much scrap chance as a bloodied railway rifle.

This is so convoluted and messy. All this micro-management just to attach an effect to a weapon or armour piece. Not a fan

They need to completely rethink the game’s “end game”. This all sounds like an incredible grind, but for what?? Once you finish the story and have the Secret Service jetpack, all that’s left is rinse & repeat Daily and Events which can be done in ~5 minutes with low level gear. They’re just creating more mindless busywork.

Here is my current plan: PRE UPDATE - farm legendaries in Expeditions and Treasure Hunter event (if you still miss plans) - carry weapons on your character with -90% weapon weight armor - mod armor with ultralight in stash - store power armor in frames in stash - move tradeable items to mules - buy legendary modules, but try to stay at the 6k scrip limit on your main once the update drops - buy medium empty pails (if you miss treasure hunter plans) or Recall keycard circuit boards but try to keep your caps at maximum - keep your mutated party packs in your stash SEPTEMBER 2nd - craft your desired armors/weapons until you hit some semi-god-rolls (I will be crafting convert scout armor) - use up all your remaining legendary modules to craft secret service armor SEPTEMBER 3rd - scrap legendaries on your main only and try to stay under the new 11k scrip limit - start XP grinding to hit SCORE rank 100 fast SEPTEMBER 5th - use up your scrip in the Purveyor legendary sale (3 star armor = 45 scrip, 3 star wepon = 75 scrip) - in comparision: buying a legendary module to craft secret service costs you 50 scrip pre-patch for a random 1-3 star armor, while buying from the Purveyor costs 45 scrip for a guaranteed 3 star armor - scrap the legendaries - move legendaries from your mules to your main - open your mutated party packs, these now reward rare outfits but also 3 star items for scrapping - scrap the moved and rewarded legendaries and invest the scrip from scrapping into the Purveyor legendary sale POST UPDATE - grind public events for legendary modules - grind expeditions for legendary items - if you haven't unlocked Bloodied and Power Attack Damage yet craft and scrap Unstoppable Monster with Super Duper perk for guaranteed rolls with a cost of average 1.5 modules per weapon - if you haven't unlocked Medics and Less VATS cost yet craft and scrap Medical Malpractice with Super Duper perk for guaranteed rolls with a cost of average 1.5 modules per weapon - if you haven't unlocked Vampires yet craft and scrap The Gutter with Super Duper perk for a guaranteed roll with a cost of average 1.5 modules per weapon POST SCORE Rank 100 - do your Caravan grinding => after rank 100 you unlock a new weekly challenge that gives 300 SCORE for completing 3 public events and caravans count as public events for the challenge - do a large or medium shipment at the discounted price - then spam small shipments until you run out of caps => small shipments give more supplies for the same caps and you get more SCORE as you do more of them - after running out of caps you can do a free small shipment every hour or a free medium shipment every 4 hours SEPTEMBER 9th - the Purveyor legendary sale is over, start collecting scrip again SEPTEMBER 19th - spend your scrip on the Purveyor Mystery Pick (3 star item = 60 scrip) and scrap the legendaries

I’m so excited. Finally, it’ll feel like a proper grind instead of nearly pure RNG.

Very good advice, As stated be VERY careful when switching from one character to another, If using a Private server(FO 1st) it's very easy to accidentally hit the public (left choice)(force of habit) instead of Private (2nd choice), would also recommend have a V. Trusted friend and you form a team adds a bit of security if your system crashes. You do want to quick about it I wouldn't get distracted for more than 5-10minutes at most. Though a bit riskier, you can also do it if your on a team in public, I do it discreetly w/o telling them. NukaWorld is pretty stable on PC, however on PS5 I do seem to crash a lot at NukaWorld might recommend another spot. Great Video Turtle!

Weaponswise I'm going to craft some Medical Malpractice to get those VATS weapon perks.

Thanks for the video! I would mention another option for transferring items. The microsoft store version of fo76 can be found for about $1, and it can be run simultaneously with the steam version on the same pc. I'm not sure about the legal status of this method though.

I've been playing since BETA, 6 years, 3300 hours. I have 4 characters with stashes full of godrolls, all kind of weapons and armour, and a 5th one as a mule. I seriously can't imagine what i could craft with this system that i don't already have.

I transfer items all the time without FO1st. All you do is join a team and close the game. Relaunch and see if you're still on the team. Then just go to a secluded area where your mule logged off, put items in container, take a picture with your phone of all the teams' player lists then close the game. Do not log out, close it. Relaunch, switch to mule, rejoin team. If you get kicked from the team you just search for the players from the picture and join their game, pick up the items. Do at your own risk but I've done it a hundred times without losing anything.

I have no problem with grinding but on some of these new updates its like Bethesda has the mechanics set up like trying to win the Lotto

All this extra effort for crafting is great in theory but I'm curious how this will translate to the casual weekend gamer.

Very informative, thanks again for another educational video. I’ve been playing this game since it dropped 6 years ago and I’m still learning about it with each video I watch. But I will say this, in my opinion from playing it as long as I have, it seems to me like they always want you to do a hell of a lot of grinding for very little to no reward. For new players I’ve met in here, for the most part they’re having a pretty good time because to them this is all fresh content, but for us 76 veterans it just seems like as of lately a lot of these updates are a classic case of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

So, my question: Say if I unlock the PLAN for say, 25%FFR from a fixer weapon, does that 25% FFR PLAN also carryover to other guns or just limited to the weapon that I unlocked it from (in this case, Fixer)? Same with Sentinels PLAN etc for armour, if i unlocked it from secret service, would the sentinels still work on a crafted piece of Raider armour etc??

The great thing about fallout is you can play the game how you want. Grindy or laid back. You won't have major consequences if you decide against the grind because the game is pretty well balanced. I enjoy the grind and will be grinding these legendaries myself, but to each his own.

If your mule exceeds Max Weight, if you can team up with another player (or another mule on a second account -- don't make fun of me 😊) and they share Study Armor or Arms Keeper or Martial Artist, whichever applies, you will be able to move again. Hope this helps and sorry if it is old news.

I’m scrounging for bobbleheads and buying serums to craft legendary mods

I can't believe it!! I'm level 1200 on the Xbox and always thought you needed a PS or PC to have a mule account...I didn't know you could just change character!! All this time struggling with weight in the inventory and I could have just swapped character!! I am an IDIOT!!!!!!!! 🤣🤣

I choose to crafts n stock a tons of lv1 pipe pistol and roll for 3 stars. With -90% weight, pipe pistol’s weight is only 0.30

Not seeing many weapons/armour for sale anymore.

Something interesting happened to me that you should know about: I left a private world, then went to a public world but quickly left, and the private world was still active, so I was able to get back to it. I don't know what the timeout is, or if you can trust this, but it seems probably if you make a mistake and go to a public world you can still correct it.

Inst it better to save scrip to buy random 3* legendary on Murmrgh? 4000 scrip is only 80 modules and thats like 1 3* reroll in the update

I would also say with the Mothman Eqinox going on now farm the Death claws , kill all death claws spawns in the world, and check super Mutant meat piles for death claw hands to craft Unstoppable Monster's if you are looking for Bloodied 40% Power attack and 90% reduced weightlifting I remember right.

I've been keeping and buying up cheap legendaries for this update was trying to figure out what to do with the scrip and modules I have right now. I plan on trying to keep track with notes with them all to help see what the rates for unlocks might be. Are you planning on tracking the same thing?

I’ve got a mule for grolls that is slam full and another mule for semi grolls/scrip weps. Been collecting modules too for a while without using them. Looks like I’m set to roll for armor and any weps I want!

Im just farming death claw hand and assaultron circuit board and stocking my modules so the night before update I can mass craft unstoppable monsters, the Gutter and Head hunter scythes. I should be able to get Blooded, Vampire, 40% weapon speed, 40% power attack dam and -90% weapon weight on day one. im a melee player so these are crucial effects for me, il just have to grind for the strength and Armor effects over time. thats if Bethesda dont screw us all over

So if you have the materials you will be able to craft the legendary perk you want on an item? 'after the update'.

For the last few years, on my private adventure, I use the med kit on the first bus outside vault 76 for my transfers to my mules It has worked great for the last 2 years or so.

4 Different Accounts (2 PCs/2 Steamdecks) it’s cheaper then having FO1st, Completing an Expedition gives my Main a total of 24 legendaries every 7-8 mins, prepping for the update, there’s no point in doing events anymore especially after the update, what are your thoughts on legendary crafting after you have everything you want.

Im also guessing that if you have a low level mule then now is the time to make lv 50 legendary gear for them because you won't be able to offload crafted or modded legendaries for them from the next update. Anyone know if with the PTS if you make a random roll legendary can you still trade it or is it character locked like modded legendaries? If thats the case then i expect mule transfer will become less common...or was that the intention 🤔🤔

wondering about the total weight limit (capacity + 1500). is it affected at all by buffs? like if you have the capacity shown in the video, your total limit is 1910. but if you take a buff that adds 50 to your capacity, does your limit go up to 1960? maybe this could help to avoid destroying an item?

after watching this video i'm still unsure about what to do with my legendary cores, what's the absolute best thing to use them for before the update comes sept 3rd?

Great video! Looking forward and preparing! Even more sad news about the Railway though: Read on Nuka Knights that in addition to lower the rate of fire, they have also nerfed the 25% weapon speed if it is applied to this weapon, it gives 15% or so instead. I mean, come on…

I’m really excited about this update… a little bitter than I had to get my perfect set of secret service and my groll fixers the old fashioned way but, I’m still excited. I’m gonna try a lot of new things after this goes live.

For muleing I use my PC Game Pass character as my mule with my Steam character. Just need to login to both characters at the same time. In a private server I just fast travel to my mules camp then drop everything then pick it up with my mule.

After watching im still unsure what to do with my cores before the update, whats the absolute number 1 thing i should be doing with them if i log on?

I am confused. Are we still going to be scriping gear? Or only scrapping? or is it all the same in the new update. I guess I missed that process in the video.

Right now It could actually take more than 15 modules to get WWR on armor, I don't seem to have any luck when rolling for something I need!

I don't have 1st or mules so I'm just stocking up on scrip and stuff. I'll start focussing on getting legendary junk after the update because I can't afford to lug them around for a few more weeks

I have a great SS full set, should I go after a THORN set for unarmed melee/auto axe or whats the best power armor?

I saw that not every time you scrap a legendary weapon or armor you like is going to give you the mod u want. You will have to scrap several times in order for the game to give you a legendary mod from the weapon you like and, is also going to be a random mod from the one you scrapped.

I have 2 accounts. One is my main and another was from an entirely different login. If I do the Nuka World swap and log out so I can login with account #2, will the item be lost? I know I can do it if I have a second instance of the game running, but I'm just wondering if you know it the item will disappear upon logout. I guess I could try with a piece of junk and test it myself... I was just wondering if you knew. Thanks AT!

Ok, when you’ll unlock mod boxes by scraping leg. armour, will those boxes apply to weapons or regular armour as well? And are those boxes single use?

I watched someone on the test server quickly scrap 40 legendaries. They only got one 1 Star and one 2 star mod. They need to increase the chances of getting a mod. If you get no mod, what do you get....junk? That doesn't seem fair. If it's going to be that hard, seems like rerolling is better. You should at least get scrip or something. Can you continuously change out weapons and armor over and over? Meaning once you assign a mod, it's not locked right?

Hello Turtle! I love your videos and a question: if I have a one star (quad) weapon, can I ADD a second and third star with the new system or will I be scrapping it?

The only part of this I will be dealing with this new crafting will be working on, is the two star part and maybe the third star. I have the one star at legendary I want for my character.

I have been buying every scrip unyielding or bloodied or quad item for months. I have 4 mules full of goodies then I have 600 modules.

🐢 what should I do with my 6k scrip before the update? I was thinking spend it all on modules and craft as much secret service armor as possible. What you think?

all i want to know if this new system allows us to change the legendary effect on Anchorage ace but im willing to bet they wont let us change the effects on it.

If you have a 1 star legendary can you just add a second a third star without it getting rolled randomly? I have a quad RR I'm sitting on waiting for the update so I can just add the other effects.

why not 2 stars or 1? why only 3 star legendaries?

Whoever learns the Weapon Weight crafting plan is going to be RICH!!! Someone’s gonna have to farm and be crazy lucky to get that. Probably sell for 10,000 caps or more, maybe even 40,000 or private sale.

Just a tip because I found out the hard way. If you are transferring between characters make sure you are on your private world not a friend's. I did this and they left and when I brought in my mule it said building world and I lost everything I dropped

What will the modules reward rate be for events??? Will it be only “!” events? Will harder events drop more modules for rewards? Thank you for all you do Mr Turtle!

2 Questions. 1st In the new system is the legendary module and plans dropped by scraping a legendary item. Limited to what is on the item. Or is it a random legendary effect. 2nd. is the chance for getting a recipe or module dependent on the number of legendary effects on the scrapped item. i.e. 3 effects having 3 times the chance of a 1 effect.

Cant wait to cash in my mutated packs for scrip and a chance at the red asylum dress got a bunch of weightless armor too

They are removing LEGENDARY cores, wouldn't it be possible to give gold bars or equivalent Legendary crafting fragments instead? Think about the time and materials we spend on event quests. When you calculate, don't forget that it's a big pie. The pie is really big. They act as if it suddenly fell and their efforts were wasted. The Fallout creators ate the pie that fell to the ground. I am sending a dry applause to the Fallout developers from here. I wonder who they thanked in the last update article.

Why do we not save to scrap 1 and 2 star legendary things? Just curious :-)

The main question is when you will scrap legendary leather armor and it will drop for example overeaten mod or overeaten plan will it be applyable to ss? Or leather -> leather, metal -> metal, ss-> ss ?

How much time and effort do you recommend for leveling and building "mules"? Do they need to be Level 50+ with mostly Strength and related perks with Armor to reduce weapon weight or other traits? Basically, what should my mule look like in order to be effective?

The weight limit/destroy item....has screwed me over making ammo before. And dropping ammo in a bag to transfer to another character also has a limit. I dropped 15000 40 mils and i couldn't pick any up out of the bag....i was so pissed....don't do that.

I've been submitting trouble tickets for the crashes and freezes. And for the pip boy being unusable while health or rads goes up and down while in pip boy. If everyone submits a ticket as well. Maybe they will listen they already called me yesterday about it. Making progress. They won't fix this unless we all speak up

What named weapons like unstoppable monster can I destroy and get good legendary effects?

Should we save any 1 or 2 star legendary weapons or armors ?

Are rhe mods weapon bound? Like if i craft a plasma caster and get a bloodied mod, can i use that same mid in a Fixer rifle? Or do i have to find each mod i want for each specific weapon?

since you've been experimenting with legendary crafting, can you make a bow or compound bow with explosive legendary effect then craft explosive arrows mod? does it explode twice, or is the explosion stronger? or is explosive legendary effect not available for bows? Actually if anyone knows that would be helpful
