Those things on their wrists are called Pipboys. They are how you manage your character and inventory in the game.

They really nailed the environmental storytelling that works SO well in Fallout games.

Yep, giant cockroaches. Called Radroaches in the Fallout universe. They're not the biggest, or the worst, mutated insect the wasteland has to offer. I'd love to see you play the games and experience this universe first hand. Side note, the slow motion shots following the Ghouls bullets seems to be a reference to VATS in the games, where you slow down time, pick a body part to target, and it'll shoot that part in slow motion. Really cool details in this show

The actress playing Lucy was told the character is like Ned Flanders in a post apocalyptic world. Lucy is a good person but not a superhero at all. She is looking for her dad and that is her priority. Plus, the Ghoul is literally shooting everyone who tried him, and he was making short work of them. She isnt bullet proof. I am not sure what you think she could have done more. She isnt a doctor and whatever supplies she has she now knows she needs to be stingy with since the first guy she gave water to drank all of it. It was clean non-radioactive water which is hard to come by.

That scientist with the dog is from an organization called “the Enclave.” Their group is a remnant of the federal government, made up of the descendants of American presidents, senators, generals, major business magnates, and other such people. Their massive superiority complex leads them to want to rule post-war America, and that’s on a good day. Most other times their goal is to massacre anyone who does not fit their definition of a real American, killing anyone who has even the slightest mutation in their dna. Our scientist with the dog seems to have had a change of heart and is trying to escape with something the enclave had, something that could maybe help people. But people understandably view members of the enclave the same way people in real life view the nazis, so there are folks who don’t just want the scientist’s knowledge, but want him dead.

You could literally see Blu's heart break when she thought the dog died, you couldn't help but feel bad for her. She perked up so much when the dog was healed. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend.

The goul fixed the dog to track the scientist. Because the dog sniffes out where he has been.

In the Fallout 4 game, the main player character can be given any name you want. But if you choose a certain companion to travel with, she will always call the main player "Blue" regardless. This is in reference to the Player's blue Vault suit (which can be later changed to any clothing you want). But changing the color of your clothing does not change your companion's nickname for you. You are permanently "Blue" to them.

It isn't explained well for people unfamiliar with the games, but stimpacks are amazing. Big healing and even damaged limb repair. And that is what the Ghoul gives the dying dog for a near-instant recovery.

The turret is an easter egg from the game, you can litteraly stand right infront of them for minutes without getting killed. 😅

the turrets shooting at them at the beginning are "the worst" turrets out there. they were nodding to the players that start with those turrets and the turrets are crap.

Wow, you really think about social systems! I like that. Smart people think about systems. I think you caught on to a key element of the story, which is the fact that it is underpinned by moral and philosophical issues. Or maybe you weren’t quite thinking in those terms, but you’re recognizing that each character inhabits a different moral/ethical space. The stakes are more than survival. The stakes are existential: the self-definition, self-creation, and the being that each of us does here in the real world (although probably without all the drama, action, and gorey violence). This isn’t a story about oversimplified good vs. evil. I’ll hit the three main characters, but the existential themes aren’t limited to them. Lucy: She is indeed corny, like someone in a Norman Rockwell painting. She has been absorbing “All-American” values of decency towards others, standing up for what is right, and contributing to society. She is an idealist. Her challenge is to maintain her ideals in the terrible world she confronts after leaving her sheltered life. Maximus: He was formed in a religious hierarchy that imposes order through violence. The implicit ideal of the Brotherhood of Steel is “Might makes right”, but the purpose of the violence is to bring peace. Having been on the receiving end of violence, I think Maximus is beginning to understand the contradictions and shortcomings of the Brotherhood philosophy. Maximus is figuring out the right way to be. The Ghoul: He was once a good man who treated others with decency, before the bombs fell. Along the way between that time and this, he lost his moral center, his good character. He has lost himself. This is also a very compelling aspect of the Ghoul character. We will come across other characters with other philosophies as the story unfolds. “The end justifies the means” is one. Making decisions based on principle of the “greatest good for the greatest number of people” is another. Somehow the writers have woven these themes into the story without being too obvious and preachy. But they’re not hiding the moral questions, either. It’s really good writing that doesn’t beat us over the head with facile moral lessons. Also, The Ghoul revives the dog to help him track Wilsig, not because he has a shred of decency and cares about the dog. The Ghoul does a number of things that can be interpreted as good or merciful, but that have less-than-good motivations.

I think you've got a pretty good grasp of what's important to the story. The doggo's safety was always my top concern when playing the game. 😂

Seeing as you haven't played the game, when you first walked into filly there was a guy selling fresh Iguana. In the first game you can get a mission to find out where the iguana comes from. You find out it is people. Fallout 4 has a version as well except it is ghoul meat mixed with radstag, molerat or any other beastie people will sell him for his canning factory. Obviously the canon is nobody was told that in fallout 1 that the "iguana" meat was people.

You forget about stimpacks they really save the day when your up to your neck in feral ghouls

They play on the stats of the game a lot in this. So when that machine gun missed, it shows his luck stat is really high. Which is part of the Fallout feel to how the games work. A bit ridiculous in a good way.

There is no right side to choose. Everyone is flawed, every faction is awful, every moral choice is ambiguous and conflicted.

I feel like the turret gun was missing the man and the dog as a joke about how any leaf or bush in your way, completely blocks your shot at stuff, in game.

Other than them happening in the same universe the games not really related. They all have their own stories. I am curious as to where this is taken place though. Fallout 4 was around DC I think and the show has remnants from it but it also has takes from clear across the country as well.

How is a 3000-rounds-per-minute AI-targeting-Turret, missing two targets moving at the speed of startled-elderly; how does the sweeping hose of supersonic-lead miss a disabled-person-&-guide-dog without secretly harboring dog-sympathy as an AI?

The Ghoul, as we've seen, is very deliberate and selfish in his actions. If he saved the dog, it would not be out of kindness - he has a purpose or use in mind.

This show made me want to play new vegas again I spent most of yesterday installing mods to play it again.

This show was good. I've watched it twice now. It's not amazing but in this current Era it's very good!

Lucy is the perfect LVL1 noob :)

The pistol completely obliterates the man's leg but it only slightly inconveniences the old woman's knee. Why? So we can have the head macguffin carry the rest of the season. That pistol literally one shots droves of Power Armor later on but he doesn't do it here even though he does know how to at this point in the show. Every seemingly irredeemable thing the ghoul does at any given moment is completely nullified a few scenes later as the series continues to not completely alienate the audience from him.

17:29 Well, you have to understand that lucy's naive, she isn't a superhero and has flaws just like you do, blu. You didn't bat an eye seeing people get slaughtered when attacking someone, but you did when the dog hurt- which is a flaw. You gotta understand that not everyone joins this twisted mindset involving the human/animal thing isn't adopted by everyone - real or fictional. Don't take it all out on lucy. The characters are depicted the way they are for reason, and it's up to you to understand why.

Me and Dolly have a Radio Play with that exact same plot that we've been working on for 3 years! Who made this Fallout thing? Maybe we should give 'em call; well, I guess that's not necessary.
