Ghouls are NOT zombies; they are living beings who suffered mutations and have extended lifespans. Feral ghouls are also still living mutated humans, but they've lost their humanity. There are no real undead beings, so no zombies.

The Gulper is in Fallout 76 which takes place in Appalachia

Yes, the raiders blew up the connection from vault 32 to vault 33 then exited out of the main vault gate of vault 32. To my knowledge this series is the first to show that more than one vault is connected to another, and in this case vaults 31, 32, and 33 are all interconnected. It's not that she didn't know that they were ghouls, she sees them as people and it's because she's always trying to do the right thing.

The style is called "retro-futurism" which basically means the future as it was imagined in the 1950s - 60s. The nuclear war in the first episode actually takes place in 2077. The Fallout universe diverges from own own after WW2. In the Fallout universe, the transistor isn't invented, so all the technology still uses old vacuum tubes. And the culture never progressed from the 1950s-1960s.

Those computers are dumb terminals. They connect to a mainframe and let you use the processing power of the larger computer. Which use Cobol language. Line coding. Used card stock for programming. Giant stacks of cards that had one line of code on them. If you dropped the stack, you were screwed. They can't operate as intended if they are out of order.
