What's going on Initiate, Bird here and in this video we are going over one of the vaults in the Fallout tv show, Vault 33. This vault is the main vault from the tv series! I think it goes deeper. Remember, the only ones chosen for Vault 31 were people selected and trained for management. Also, all of these people have been overseers of Vaults 32 and 33. They have kids, preparing them for managing the new world after surviving after everything has died. Vault-Tec comes out on top having selectively bred the leaders of the new world without pesky laws.

@@ravage_rensvae5284 yes, both used cryo chambers. One was to keep Vault-Tec around forever while Bud Askins kept an eye on them (Vault 31). The other was to test how keeping someone frozen for decades or even centuries has effects on people (Vault 111). Both are similar, but what Vault 31 had if something went wrong was Bud's favorite thing, Management.

There is also an element that is not often adressed: in 200 years of elections, with 4 year terms that is 50 elections, all winners were from a very small prechoosen group of people, and the results were legitimate enough that there never really was any doubt, which is nearly a wonder for a group this small. So i think there was also an underlying experiment about this

Surprisingly it's mostly well thought out. All the leaders are people pre determined to be capable in leadership positions, the vault dwellers get to vote on the leader but the vault 31 residents are always chosen because they so capable from the get go, there's two non cryo vaults which means there's always a backup and the fact that all 3 vaults are cut off from each other seems less suspicious. Only moral downsides is the fact that the residents are being lied to about vault 31, although them knowing the truth will probably cause more harm. Also of course the destruction of shady sands is a big downside but that could probably just be blamed on the overseer going over the top

@@williamcoon3724 but they were controls in a greater experiment. My point is, it seems incorrect to call a vault "experimental" when the vaults were all made to be the basis of an experiment. Even the control vaults. But I'm not a statistician, so maybe I don't know how the verbiage is used. Just how it comes off to me is all.

@salad_gold_rancher I would argue (excluding the controls for a moment) that vaults fall into 2 categories, standard vaults- that aside from a social experiment run exactly as expected (think this vault or the one that was populated by normal peole and a panther) and experimental vaults- ones actually had unique layouts of facilities to facilitate a specific experiment (llke the rich vs poor wing vault and the cryogenic vault)

Imagine if all the vaults were like this, as advertised to the public. No Master, no super mutants, etc. The wasteland might have actually successfully colonized BY vault dwellers and not just radiated survivors. I’ve always wanted to see what that would look like. I wish we had a chance to see it

Since it’s a social experiment, things beings sabotaged creating hard times, would help the democracy “course correct” for leadership to be from Vault 31. While the water chip being damaged is fan service, it’s timing would force the vaulters to seek stronger leadership and not protest as much when the raiders were poisoned.

That's also the case with villages everywhere... If both of your families have been there for generations, it's very unlikely you aren't cousins in some way, so it's only when you are first cousins or have been raised knowing that you're family that you'll care. Like, in the show Lucy isn't repulsed by her cousin but considers it a childish thing to grow out of so she can marry someone she hasn't known to be her cousin all along. But back on the topic of villages, I've heard of people finding out they're related when they're already married and looking at family trees. Genetically it's not the worst thing unless you both have cases of chronic illnesses, other kinds of disabilities and all that. If you have a purebred dog you can be sure its inbred bc 100 years ago they weren't flying dogs or their... Genes... Around, they just crossed well behaved dogs regardless of their blood relations, that's why Labs are likely to have hip conditions for example, bc they didn't have better genes to choose from.

yes, there was never actually any proof of the plague, the only 2 people told story about that was Betty and Hank, both from Vault 31 so I doubt it's true

The famine happened in Lucy's lifetime, there were plenty of them in the show that lived through it. Weather it was an organic famine or an artificial food shortage is debatable, but something surely happened

The plague was a cover-up for Hank, leaving the vualt to retrieve his children and set off a nuke destroying sandy oaks or something which turned his wife into a ghul. Vualt 31 was cryo and had pre war inhabitants who would be released to 32 and 33 as overseers as a transfer. 32 was supposed to be overpopulated to increase chances of genetic changes and mate with 33 selectively.

Askins knew what happened in 32, He restricted communication between 32 & 33, and told MacLean that the overseer simply died bot that there was a revolt. Roses pipboy was used on 32s door

That thing she said, Betty, "People like to have something to fuss about" that makes me think that the problems were intentional, used by Bud probably to make sure that a 31 overseer would always be elected. The people in 33 and 32, like Bud said, were used for maintenance, while those in V31 were kept in stasis pods, and I'm betting that the composted bodies would be used to build clones of the 'managers' in 31.

Is there some super-vault filled with Vault-Tec CEOs/scientists/shareholders? What is the actual reasoning behind almost all the vaults containing a variety of experiments, some humane, some... less so? Who stands to benefit from the results of these experiments?

The idea was that Vault Tec would come out and inherit the earth. Literally. The experimental vaults would provide data to show what works and doesn't work for "managing consumers". Also, a lot of the experiments were "out sourced" to other companies to help Vault Tec pay for their real/control/"good" vaults

It wasn't just about the goal, but the possibility. In case of a nuclear apocalypse, there would be no real difference between if the vaults function or not from a vault tech ceo perspective, they might as well be out of paper, because once the apocalypse comes, who is gonna punish them for any thing like this? And the experiments are for research on the one hand, and probably for entertainment on the other, who doesn't like to play a little god?

To answer your questions yes they are called the Enclave and they are the continuation of pre war government and were essentially a cabal before the war that ran project safe house, The experiments were designed as ways to test for solution and finding of problems with this kind of lock down life for the use in space travel and colonization. (The vaults function very similarly to what would be required for those environments) the idea was to leave the destroyed earth. (This is stated in the fallout bible) How much of the enclave original mission is intact and how successful they were at keeping control post war is up for debate.

The thing that doesn't make sense is why didn't vault tech just make the exit to the vault, just in 21 instead of having multiple exits for each vault. This would insure that nobody can leave without going through 31. This would have done two things. Kept the overseer wife from leaving with the kids and alerted the overseer to knowing it was raiders in the vault

I think it's because first the people still have to go inside, and second the official reason why the vaults were seperate in the first place was to prevent any cataclysmic event from spreading, so having all both vaults rely on one exit seems like a bit of a design flaw

The vaults did only ever open for special occasions (like the one we see at the start of the show). The idea was to keep them separated, officially to prevent things like unrest or disease from spreading, inofficially probably because that would leave more groups to manage. So nearly all contact was just over the computers, which were pretty much controlled by people from vault 31, who probably deleted everything related to the revolt and faked messages. And I guess someone not from 31 saw the messages from 32 and the rest is seen in the show

see I wondered always why if Vault tec had all these vaults and they actually built them tough enough to withstand the bombs and fallout, why the Vault-Tec Corporation was nowhere to be found. before I saw the show I had a few theories. maybe their exclusive vault hadn't opened yet, or maybe they didn't even believe anything would happen so they didn't buy their own cure. but I like the way the show handles this question. it's not perfect but it explains a lot about why some characters (in the games) seem to be much older than they let on without being ghouls. In this new Canon a lot of the leaders of the many factions across the different wastelands are vault tec management that came out on the other side.

No. Vaults 32 and 33 were only necessary to get Vault 31 what they need when it comes to having people to repopulate with. Basically they were only taken care of for breeding purposes.

Spoiler below The Vault was also a important one in Vault Tec's development as multiple Vault Tec executive's were cryogenicly frozen and later awoken as Overseers. The Vault Inhabitants were never allowed in Vault 31, as they were told that's where the Overseers come from and nothing more.

The reveal at Vault Tec's literally EVILEST business meeting ever conceived was so alarming. So does that mean HOUSE conceived of 21? Mind you I can see any other logically placing the gambling vault in Vegas, but its proximity to House is just kinda, funny. I found him to be the strangest part of that meeting. He's like, straight arrogant towards Vault Tec. He made his own super bunker filled with just securitrons. And then he groomed a bunch of cannibals and Goodfellas enjoyers into casino and hotel managers. While bangin AI girlfriends. Dudes all snarky about it too. I wonder if he survived the Second Battle. Second Season would be wild if yes man's face is everywhere. 😂

They were everything but normal. Vault 31 32 and 33 shows us the true horror behind elitist democracy. The lower vaults are given bare a minimum attention as Vault 31 dominates their politics and economy forcing them into acting as puppet states. The lower vaults have no purpose but to provide resources to 31, they are brutally repressed and gain no incentive from their value. They are trapped as servants to their higher casts and are killed off whenever 31's final goal is complete. It is a fascist relationship when one group dominates the entirety of the political scene. They could very well surface and rebuild, but Vault-tech's hunger for power forced an elitist society that fear mongers its way into power and uses populations of stock to pay for their heinous ambitions.

Love how the show’s writing wasn’t even competent enough to explain why the entrance to a vault(Out in the open mind you!) that is connected to two other vaults that was right near the Boneyard, which is closer in proximity to the cathedral than vault 13 is, somehow didn’t have any kind of issue with the master a while before the events of this show takes place.

Wouldn't all three vaults be discovered by the master in fallout 1 due to their location? If not, than Wouldn't the enclave have found them in Fallout 2? Also why is the enclave around during the time of the show when in New Vegas, all that's left of the enclave is four geezers in hiding?
