Currently working on: Jagged Alliance 2 (this is gonna own), "intro to classic Fallout and a tier list," Mechwarrior 2: Mercs (a funny script I keep delaying), Marauder / Man of Prey (very political, this channel is gonna become the SPLC of Eurasia). Nevada DL link: www.mediafire.com/file/nqfrkb5fllbpqx4/%255Bcon%255D_F2_Nevada_Mod_%2528Extended%2529_HD_%255Bv2.0.3.3%255D.exe/file This is not the version I used, but it should have English. If the link doesn't work, please comment. If you are a Patron, the mod is backed up on Ghostgate.
Gonna be hyped for Marauder / Man of Prey to be honest. I finished that game last summer, and it felt like a fever dream to me. As far as I understand it the english version is heavily censored?
Fallout Sonora is beautiful and accurate to the Sonoran Desert. I have lived here my entire life and I was blown away by how accurate the map was and how creative the story was. Definitely loved that Tucson was turned into Two Sun after the apocalypse. I would love to see a dedicated game to this area of the United States because it truly is different and has its oddities.
I just don't understand how some Russian guy from a random town in Siberia manages to have such a in depth knowledge of American culture and captures the essence of "Americana."
You underestimate the global reach American culture has had since the 80s, also being an 'partial' outsider to it helps to have a better objective understanding of it
During the Soviet era , America was fantasized by some Soviet citizens. Many of which became popular game developers. One of which is fallout like game Planet Alcatraz.
"A dull and grey town that smells of dampness and rotten foliage." As a Salt Lake resident I'm impressed how they captured the feel of my city so accurately!
I remember everything was gray and covered in snow when I lived there... Yet it had this, I dunno, majestic vibe. Maybe that's just 9 year old me high on the glory of the late 90's. Salt Lake City is connected to the Attitude Era, Pogeyman cards, and Ultima Online in my mind.
@@Otterdisappointment I'm not a Mormon. Most in the people in SLC aren't. Mornons are still a majority in Provo and Ogden, but they have lost a lot of power in Utah due to people from California and the East coast coming out here for jobs and economic reasons (like me). I honestly give it maybe... 5 more years before they relocate their capitol to Idaho.
@@ezekielrose5173 Sorry. I don’t have a high opinion of the city. The only people I know of from it are Mormons or actual Nazis because the Mormons (ironically) ostracized them for undesirable traits or associations even if they’re racially appropriate for the church.
I am always surprised these talented modders don't make games set in their own country. Imagine taking a chunk of Russia and/or Ukraine, getting actual towns, and making a Fallout game set in that area. That said, as someone who lived in real Reno and had family who lived in some of these actual towns, the attention to detail and design is quite incredible. The only issue would be the Cheyanne which are common further east in Oklahoma and Kansas. The big tribal nations in this area are the Shoshone.
The main plot isn't bad or weak, it's just unfinished. It's like a movie on an old vhs that lost about 70 percent to a white noise. But the parts that are intact are real nice.
Fallout: Nevada just nails the esthetic and tone of Fallout things like that Dr.Strange reference are on point its amazing that it was made by someone born on other side of the planet. I am fascinated by Fallout's cult following in Russia so much of Fallout's schtick is its very American 1950s 'world of tomorrow' esthetic it surprises me that it has any appeal to a Russian audience. Does reminding me that I need to play Atom RPG.
That's because we had a very similar vision of the future back then, and it was reflected especially well in kids' media (see Kir Bulychev's "Mystery of the Third Planet" cartoon, for example). So Soviet (and by extension Russian) children had their own Jetsons, and our counties also share the cold war nuclear dread - all the ingredients from Fallout's recipe of success.
like you alluded to; There's always a contingent of people who seek experiences unfamiliar to their own life, whether it be russians playing fallout or americans playing stalker.
@@ShinyUmbreon765 The Fallout like is turning into a nice little subgenre. I am finishing up Underrail and it is really good game (it does have pacing issues) and I have heard really good things about both Atom RPG and Encased and the buzz around Colony Ship has been very positive.
Свисток вполне юзабелен и после охоты на гекко. Его можно использовать и для привлечения внимания людей. Например, выманивать рейдеров-патрульных из локации с дикарями подальше от их здания, чтобы разделаться с ними поодиночке.
Warlock I really appreciate how you relate both history and folklore into your videos. Thank you, I hope you, your friends and loved ones are doing okay.
There's a movie from 2005 called the island where rich people had clones for the purpose of farming off their organs. They might've gotten the idea from there.
The fallout games and by extension their mods seem to fixate a lot on immortality and characters that have lived a long time. Though the setting itself seems to almost neuter their potential, when they aren't just played as villains or curiosities their goal is usually to seize power and create a society of their own design. Since post apocalyptic society has regressed both socially and technologically their perspectives are those of people who still remember the pre war period. Which in fallout was very nearly approaching a technological singularity/runaway with actual artificial general intelligence and fully automated self sustaining labor. If House or Reaper did manage to rebuild and bring technological advance back to the pre war level they would probably face alienation from a world that has begun to advance socially and technologically at an exponential level. They may be smart, or very smart, but they are still just human beings, could they even hold onto power in a world with machine superintelligences and humans enhanced through genetic or biomechanical means? They might end up being tragic figures. After another couple hundred years they would be alone, in a world they cannot truly comprehend and among people and machines whos thought processes are completely alien to them. Maybe they would be satisfied knowing that the total annihilation of humanity was averted, and they are just sticking around to see how things turn out. To the people of the new world they might just be a pitiable relic. Things out of time, kept around maybe out of a sense of quiet gratitude or empathy. Ideas that, maybe not in the scope of fallout, but I do wish were explored by other games.
Agreed. You, what you speak of kinda reminds me of a quote from Fallout 3: _"Did you ever try to put a broken piece of glass back together? Even if the pieces fit, you can’t make it whole again the way it was. But if you’re clever, you can still use the pieces to make other useful things. Maybe even something wonderful, like a mosaic. Well, the world broke just like glass. And everyone’s trying to put it back together like it was, but it’ll never come together in the same way."_ *_-Moira Brown_* Something about that quote stuck out to me. I can't quite place my finger on why, though. Hell, might just be because of how different it feels to the rest of the writing in 3. Who knows.
I hope in my life I can learn to code a fan made game using the old fallout system. The first 2 games changed my life and have made me see the awesomeness in old school games like this
Hey Warlockracy, love any content about Nevada, saw that ramblelime video, missed that Keyboard Gecko one, so thanks for bringing it up. As you said, the main quest is very weak, but the game has some very interesting details that make it for me. The first is that small quest in New Reno about a lover turned ghoul. The second is Area 51, which is PERFECT without an explanation (the inside of the bunker), because - for me at least - it's the perfect post-apocalypse kinda "urbex" dungeon. Yes, it's there. Yes, you can creep through it. Yes, you can find interesting technology there. Want some background on it? Only environmental storytelling. This takes me to my first visit of Vault 15 in F1 or the bunker in Toxic Caves in F2. Forces imagination to put the pieces in place. The third is that special encounter with the ring of flowers. The fourth is returning to Gerlach after endgame and after sending the villagers to Vault City. And the final and best one are the "Silence" encounters around Salt Lake City. These struck me hard as fuck, as I was unsure what am I supposed to expect there, and that is where the environmental storytelling hits best, 10/10 material. PS. Almost forgot about that Ely Gorebinski guy in Vault City.
On my second watch of this now, not a cat in hells chance I’ll ever get round to playing any of these (as a non-Russian speaker) so having you showcase these mods for us is a blessing! Hope you’re doing well dude 👊🏻
@@theberserker6000 don’t get me wrong bro, I would happily play the English translations of these mods (and have done in the past to varying success) but I would 100% rather consume the WHOLE mod in its native language with all content/dialog context that the devs wanted to portray from a video like this, instead of trying to use google translate to struggle my way thru a story! I’d love to be bi-lingual tho, would make life a LOT more convenient haha!
@@andyparkinson1996 np but the translation is more than fine, the extra reference and annotations from dev docs are the icing on the cake. BUT playing it and experience it is a whole other experience, I personally had a very different playthrough than Warlok and it was refreshing to see his point of view. To me nothing beats playing it no matter the language, Nevada is already available and the game itself plays better than the OGs both in terms of quest design (borrowing from F3 and FNV) and pacing since everything is optional and the main quest isnt really the focus. Truly a unique mod among the CRPG genre, not the best but something else.
I love how the video basically starts with the Vegas sign, a guy getting hung, a guy running into a wall, and blowing something up. There’s just something so beautiful abt fallout
Wake up honey, it's another Warlockracy video The fact that Nevada takes place before F1 instantly raises my opinion of it. That part of the timeline, as well as events slightly before the war are not really explored in games. I would have especially loved to see the prologue, even if it kinda spoils the story of the mod, if not F2 and the nature of Vaults as a whole. It's an interesting concept, even if it will never get made. Using USD instead of caps as currency does make sense. I think it's explained in the timeline that the caps backed by water wasn't a thing until Hub came to prominence, so having a currency backed by gold, which was now a thing from bygone era that is not easily reproduced or falsified would be a good choice. It's another reason why i liked F2's usage of NCR coins and FNV's usage of NCR and Legion currency instead of caps. Ring Pullers as currency from Tactics is more nonsensical. I like that every weapon start is viable, since even Energy weapons and Big guns can be found early. Is that why Hawthorn base can be explored very early on? i wouldn't be surprised if that is the reason. I think i would later describe what i've expirienced once i get around to play this mod(i have yet to do that with Resurrection and Olympus, which i've finished), what i've seen so far is enough to make my head spin from all the content described here and that could be there. Also, i have a suggestion, have you thought about taking a look at the game "The Truth about the 9th Company"? It's a game that tries to depict the battle of Hill 3234 from the Soviet-Afgan war, and it came out sometime after the movie "9th Company". It's an interesting triangle consisting of the historical battle, the movie that was set before and during the battle, and the game that tries to rectify the movie's mistakes. Apparently Goblin was involved in making it, something that i didn't know when i played it a long time ago(he is listed as "Ideological leader and inspirer", whatever that means). It has an encyclopedia with related topics, but i can't comment on it's accuracy since my knowledge of Russian is limited(it's a Russian only game). Can it even be obtained in Russia anymore, since it's from 2008? Finally, i hope you are okay. If you need to dodge, Bosnia is open, even if only as a transit point(but considering the political situation, it might not be safe for long either).
I have to say these kind of older games and mods reviews feel like they're so rare and often rely on an edgier humour I don't vibe with and I can say your videos are comfy and enjoyable and Insightful always
As I was watching this, I initially thought that all this stuff foreshadowing "The Reaper" and the Enclave involvement, was actually foreshadowing the Children of the Cathedral and The Unity, along with The Master, as the methodology seemed similar. Mentions of "changes in the wasteland," mysterious dudes in robes, "a mysterious entity kidnapping "pure souls" for nefarious purposes," caravans getting attacked by mysterious forces, someone searching for lost tech, all played into this. Would have made for an interesting prequel.
Perhaps. But I do think the premise behind Vault 8 experiment, Reaper of Souls (Or as I prefer to call him Thesus), and proto-Enclave involvement is interesting.
Well, first time commenter. Long time lurker. Ever since I saw your Morrowind mod review of Skyrim: Home of the Nords and your insight of the goings on around the various topics had to check out the rest of your videos. I never had the opportunity to play the games you talk about but how you explain either the origins of the game or the culture at the time surrounding it makes the game quite interesting to see in person one day.. It's been interesting to see how alot of these games are viewed outside of my neck of the woods. Look forwards to your next video! Oh, and you got a sub from me.
6:29 - Well, it's written that it might be nothing, but there's a chance of complications. I presume, it rolls a die, and then applies de-buff after a period of time. In your case, you were lucky.
Man, this mod is giving me the same vibes as Fallout 2 in terms of location. Being from Reno, I loved being able to visit my hometown in Fo2 and I’m definitely getting this mod ASAP to check out local spots in Northern Nevada were depicted…
43:30 I never watched Get Out so I'm not sure the reference to it with the whole cloning to use as spare parts, but that is pretty much the plot of The Island, which came out in 2005, so could easily been an influence
So if anyone has been having problems with the game loading a black screen what I did is when you download Fallout Nevada to your fallout 2 folder (The master folder with Fallout 2.exe and master.dat in it I believe) It creates a sub folder called Nevada mod. Select all the files from that folder, and put them in the fo2 master folder, replace all files. Fallout Nevada's master.dat doesn't have to go in so just press skip when it pops up the error message that it can't be extracted or whatever. If you do this Fallout 2 will load as Nevada. You can only play one, so if you want to play Nevada you can't play 2 until you delete the file. If this doesn't work just reply and I'll try to help.
Always love when my little shit hole of a hometown shows up in these fallout games/mods. Lovelock doesn't have a raider problem, but it being home to one in game still seems fitting lmao.
Loved the mod, probably enjoyed it the most out of all the FO mods I have tried out. However I can't stop thinking about the descriptions for the genders in the character info page every time I get reminded of this mod.
This might be a product of my inability to speak Russian but I find the Russian voice acting to be much better than the English counterpart for this game. To be fair I think whoever did the English voice acting might not have spoken English as his first language though.
Finally, new Warlockracy! And Fallout no less! Maaan I came back home to this, I've been waiting forever of you to cover this one. Also, what's the location near the Southwestern edge of the map? The one near Uranium City? I didn't find this one in any of my playthroughs.
I know it was played off as a joke at the end but am I correct in assuming that the person we play as in the intro is actually the main character? You just got your brain reimplanted into another clone body and the brain damage is whatever the reaper or jay did to you capturing you, meaning your over 120 years old and why everyone keeps calling you ‘special’ in the vault.
Its always intresting too see other cultures "get" US culture...although its understandable, US culture is very easy to understand and yeah most of the stereotypes are true
I’ve been wanting to play this mod for awhile now but haven’t got around to it yet. This video is a perfect summary to the game, thanks man 👍 just subscribed to your channel. Would love it if you made a video for Planescape torment.
New Vegas, New Reno, Vault City and Salt Lake City all in one game? Awesome. Shame he conceptualized and made New Vegas before the Obsidian one came out, would've been neat to have the Lucky 38 referenced at least and be insta-killed by the robot guards if you approach it.
Fallout: Nevada is great because it takes a lot of design ideas from modern Fallout like Vegas and 3: Easy start, designing quests with multiple builds in mind rather than character types, early weapons for all types, and cap skill checks that are visible. It's the most modern old Fallout.
I love the notion of: "A prologue story with entirely new assets, characters and plot with different endings? Nah man, that's too tough, I would need to invest two entire weeks on it!? Like... are you crazy?! My time is valuable." That is such a mega flex right there.
“You must be from Canada!” I rolled my eyes then remembered Canadian insurgents were an issue at the time of the bombs falling (one of them getting executed is one of the first things you see in Fallout 1)
As a person who lived in Barnaul and Altayskiy Kray for 25 years, I can confirm - it is indeed can be called "THE asshole of Russia". It's bumfuck nowhere, it's the region with one of the lowest average salaries and one of the highest prices (especially food, pretty much can compare these prices to Moscow ones), and it also has some genuinely talented people, which is still fucking confusing to me after all these years.
I'm from New Mexico and I can tell you that these games are exact depictions of what it's like to live in the American southwest. We've been nuked thousands of times, everyone's addicted to drugs. Gun fights between Cowboys defending their property and gangs are commonplace. There's roving bands of mutants, giant insects, radiation, top secret Underground military installations, water is scarce. I could go on. You think I'm joking? I'm not.
I might have found a connection as to why the power armor in this game is called ‘Grizzly’. If you search up ‘Grizzly suit guy’ on YT, you’ll be directed to a video about a guy who made a bear proof suit that can withstand getting rammed by a truck and hit with a log. The suit itself is big, bulky and a few people in the comments of that video have pointed out it looks like power armor. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was were the dev got the name for suit as both of them have this homemade look to them and the game also has a few references to RE and pop culture.
6:00 Actually, slave collars made a brief but memorable appearance in Fallout 1! There are prisoners in the Cathedral, and upon releasing the lock to their cells, they promptly run out into the corridor, causing their slave collars to detonate, turning them all into a mushy paste :3
@@The_Painter0624 Nah, the master was a Psyker, but he didn't have the ability to create explosions out of biological matter, that wouldn't make any sense. When the slaves are freed, they literally explode in a massive ball of fire; if the Master had used his psychic abilities, there wouldn't have been an explosion, they would have just dropped dead, or maybe their heads would have popped.
>his name is whesker . > but looks like Krauser. There was something about a meme, before re4 (2005)'s release where there was this Brazilian RU-vidr or someone who misidentified jack krauser as albert whesker and was being adamant about it.
I mean, it could be (kinda) possible that Las Vegas could’ve been the way it was depicted here before the events of New Vegas. That ending slide saying that the factions of Vegas fought a civil war which lasted many years could be the “cannon” ending. Here’s my theory: Vegas survives the war because of Mr. House’ defenses, after House is taken offline and put in a coma, the survivors of Vegas band together to re-establish Vegas the way that it was for the new world. But after the events of Nevada, the civil war breaks out between the factions of the city. After years of brutal fighting, Vegas is now truly a ruin. What’s left of the people of Vegas lose all sense of community and fraction into small tribes. These tribes over the coming decades expand, prosper, contract, die, and fight one another. Until by the 2270s all that are left are the tribes that would eventually become the families of the Strip. I’m no New Vegas loremaster so I don’t know how well it fits into established cannon, but that’s what I believe so far.
