Don't know why people are so hard on Max. He hasn't done anything really bad and he's almost as naive and innocent as Lucy. He actually step up to stop a fight without doind any violence himself (he thought he was saving an innocent man) and defended a town and Lucy from the Ghoul when he didn't need to. He wanted to show up, of course, but it doesn't take away the good he wanted to do. Is his great sin lying his name to a complete stranger in a violent and non second chances world, where you either kill or be killed?

Oh for sure, I wasn't saying that I dislike him but just in comparing all 3 storylines. When I look at his story, Lucy's and the Goul's I am enjoying his stuff the least.

My dude is making it all up as he goes along, probably on the verge of sheer panic the whole time too. He's actually doing pretty well, all things considered.

It's just that his story is the weakest. There is hardly any backstory to dig into, and character development haven't been notable. He does exceptionally well with expressions though. Yes he is naive, ref his line earlier "it's your duty to better this world". That is *NOT* what the brotherhood is all about, so he's definitely going to have some revelations down the line. He definitely *wants* to be good, just like Lucy, but where he is right now will conflict that later. Considering how the show ends with the elders plan to branch out to a new brotherhood faction, I have a feeling his story will be much more significant in season 2. As for Coop, there isn't much left of his story to be told. Unless they conjure up something of course. Lucy is progressing nicely, but her backstory isn't hers alone, but the whole vault complex. Trying to make all characters deep and complex in the first season would be a mistake imo, as there would be nothing left to explore later.

Remember, Liz, that Maximus has grown up in a quasi-medieval technology cult since, like, age six. Eight, at most. It's a miracle the guy's as well-adjusted as he is. He's definitely a bit of a dumbarse, but he IS (mostly) doing his best I think.

I was kind of meh on Max as well. I think some of it is that he's just an average guy with a little bit of anger issues who lies to cover his own @ss- and a lot of us are... fatigued... with that sort of person (irl and on the screen), lol. BUT- his story line does get better. It gets better as his past and the current world get fleshed out a little bit. A lot of people seemed unhappy that the last 3 episodes seem "rushed", but I loved them. They have *a lot* of action and story packed into them. I can't wait for you to see them all, lol. I found it extremely satisfying, despite being left open for season 2.
