I am anchor down in Tarpaulin Cove, on Vineyard Sound, six days out of Beaufort, NC. That was not without a struggle, though. Had to beat into brisk NE winds, and then fight the flooding current to get to Tarpaulin. But after some rest I am treated to a glorious beam reach across Buzzards Bay to visit my friend Chris in Padanaram. Padanaram presents a challenge to the engineless sailor, as it is not only crowded, but there are many expensive, classic yachts moored there as well. The price of a mistake could be ruinous.

Looked as if you had some 'Champagne sailing' across Buzzard Bay, a fast point of sail and fairly flat water. I did think that another reef whilst taking the mooring ball would have been wise, but hey, you handled situation superbly as usual.

We had a twenty foot sail that we sailed up to our mooring. Maneuvering without the head sail when sailing up to a mooring makes it much harder to time the last move. Also if the mooring is missed it is harder to get the boat to fall off and repower without the head sail. I know you do it so the fore deck is clear for the pick up. I appreciate your angst during the procedure because a miss is harder to recover from without the head sail.

Sailing ... you loose some, then you loose some more sometimes you might loose a little less. If you by any chance shuld vinn some, you know that you are about to loose some more. The funny thing is .. in spite of this you always gain some ... best regards stem to stern sailing

Thanks for the very good tips. I recently had trouble with a mooring without engine, too strong wind, too many expensive boats. It's really an art form I have a small trolling motor which helps sometimes, yet in the end the sails are ones main power. If you are interested in electric sailing, i made a few videos on that ...

" I don't see anybody... at the wheel" What could go wrong with that scenario? I'm just down below making a ham & cheese sandwich for myself, looks out the starboard port hole- see's RA on his beam approaching. Frustration when sailing against the current- like that's never happened before. An exercise in futility sometimes. A force water landing for the drone- that... typically doesn't go well for drones. U don't say there Kevin? And it also means I'm gonna have to tack the boat into the narrow whineding harbor.. in true HtSO cliffhanger fashion- we'll leave that till the next episode.

Hey Kevin: at the section starting from 3:04 to about 3:40, you tack and then keep the Genoa back-winded w/ an eased _windward_ working sheet dragging over the cabin top, leaving the leeward sheet lazy. Is this just a convenient compromise for a short tack, sail shape be dammed?
