Originally John Deeks was chosened to replace Ernie Sigley as host of Wheel Of Fortune but Seven vetoed on the idea opening the door for John Burgess to host WOF and Deeksie to focus on his announcing role on The New Price Is Right only to land an announcers role on WOF in 1986 after TNPIR finished in 1985. During 1996 he hosted Family Feud for 6 months until June that year when he returned to WOF to announced for a week for David Day. There was rumours again that time as Seven was moving production of WOF from Adelaide to Sydney that Deeksie was again rumoured to be chosened as host of WOF but that went to Tony Barber. Deeksie returned to WOF as an announcer in 1997 remaining in the role until the show ended in 2006. He was at one point being offered a hosting role on the New Zealand version of Wheel Of Fortune which he turned down as he rather concentrate on his role as a voiceartist and announcer.
