After this many years you probably know the answer now but just in case you don't: Fans like to chant "Who's the bastard in the black?" at referees. Since bastard means born out of wedlock the birth certificate is a way to counter the ckaim. No referee would really bring it on the pitch with them, it was just a couple of people thinking they were being funny and clever.
I have lived in America for 18 years now and i can confirm for a fact that they do eat Hot dogs and cook Meat loaf a lot more than anyone here eats Burgers
from someone thats never even been to america i find that hard to believe when you think of mcdonalds and burger king being only 2 chains of about a gazillion of burger chains in america.
