The oldest rock in the Museum of Northern Arizona arrived from outer space about 50,000 years ago, when mammoths and giant ground sloths roamed the grasslands. The nickel-iron meteorite was about 160 ft across, but shattered on impact, so MNA has a piece on display about the size of a large watermelon. In this Family Friday, Mari Soliday visits the crater left by the meteorite. Then she shares an easy experiment to do at home with a tray, some flour, and various household objects.
MNA thanks APS for funding this online educational science program for kids.
