"Brave" is not the appropriate term. To be brave is to be fearless. It's okay to have fear. Fear is a natural instinct that every person feels. To overcome that fear in order to do the right thing is called courage. Being courageous is more honorable than being brave.

That's not true. He did much more than stand there while gunshots continued to ring out. He ordered his officers to not go in to save those kids. Yeah, I never understand that the MOST SENIOR police officer ---- acting chief or chief --- of the city/town arrived on the scene and just paced back and forth.... With two dozen of officers under his command, with a dozen or so inside the school's hallway, one direct behind the other... a few meters away from an active shooter .... and they, including the chief/acting chief, said they're either waiting for the Texas Rangers or some other higher up officials to come or to direct them what to do next.... Why? BECAUSE, per the chief on the scene, he had to consider HIS OFFICERS LIVES! Apparently the lives of hundreds of students INSIDE the school, including two dozen or so students whose classroom the murderer had gone into, mattered less than his officers' lives... This guy and his officers waited and talked and twirled with their thumbs for around 70 freaking minutes, as the shoot continued to shoot children and teachers. THAT is just too bizarre. In the moment of chaos and shooting, 3-5 minutes going by & no one was directing a cohesive until, say, THE CHIEF (acting chief) had arrived.... Okay, somewhat UNDERSTANDABLE. But 70 minutes go by .... And two dozen or so ARMED TO THE TEETH police officers ---- PLUS THE CHIEF HIMSELF ---- outside the school, at the school entrance, and in the hallway of a school, with young students, teachers, and administrators, with EVERYONE FROM THE SCHOOL PLEADING FOR HELP... and the police chief & officers were all saying: We can't approach the shooter, because we don't have a police shield and we are waiting for those shields and for the Texas Rangers? Why does the city of Uvalde pay you guys, then? If officers safety was the first priority, as the chief said.... then why bother answering 911 calls at all, since THAT would entail you to drive TOWARD DANGER. If police officers safety is #1, then once they arrive in the morning for work, they should just turn off their answer machines, hang up their guns, put their feet up on tables, and order Pizza deliveries... because THOSE ACTS would protect your officers 100%, even as thieves, rapists, and murderers rampage through your town or city....

@@btdtalso well I’ll have to wait another 13 months to be able to concealed carry here in texas sooo 😅 Plus there are a lot more factors to consider when it comes to this scenario. If an armed parent is at a location with their kids when a shooting starts, they probably won’t abandon their kids to go after the shooter. It’s also easy to say “just shoot the perpetrator don’t be a coward” but that normally turns out a lot differently when an untrained civilian hears gunfire and doesn’t know where it’s coming from. Unless you have special training or are just crazy, your first instinct in that situation will always be flight instead of fight.

Disagree, the ones giving orders were, but to also include anyone cowering on their own not protecting their fellow LEOs. Just like the military, they are obligated to follow orders or face punishment/prosecution for disobeying. Nobody had a crystal ball that day, and anyone going rogue would have met the force of their own stopping them. Cops going rogue can cost lives unnecessarily because this ain't a Rambo movie. There are many officers applauding this arrest as well. Not everything is so clear cut from your couch, and blaming troops for the decisions of their leaders is pure ignorance. It was more than cowardice. It was the sheer amount of time he allowed to pass before he let anyone take any kind of action. There is cowardice and there is gross negligence. This is an example of the latter. His decision to hold back allowed the shooter to run rampant and unopposed for over an hour. Meanwhile they arrested the people who were trying to take action.

Pete Arredondo could have left Uvalde, Texas quietly and never returned but instead he stayed on the City Council and arrested and put in a cage any parent that dared to speak out against him. Arrendondo really enjoyed rubbing it in the face of those parents. The police put the kids in greater danger because some of the kids that were playing dead the shooter didn't know they were still alive and only found out because the police told the kids to yell out if they were still alive and when they did the gun man found and killed them. Hopefully, Arredondo actually gets convicted and this is just some dog and pony show.
