See what it takes to feed our family of 12 for a week! We go to Trader Joe's and Costco in this video. We also bought a few things from a local market named Lincoln Market. We bring Anna (age 11) Chloe (age 9) Enoch (age 6) Melody (age 4) and Moses (age 1) on our weekly grocery haul.
Here is our meal plan for the week:
Monday: Tuna Sandwiches on baguette, Dinner: Garbanzo Bean Soup
Tuesday: Bean bowls, Dinner: Lasagna & Salad
Wednesday: Pesto Pasta, Dinner: Lentils and Rice with fried Egg and Cucumber salad
Thursday: Fresh Mozzarella, tomato, basil on Tuscan Pane bread
Dinner: Lamb Kebabs, tomatoes, couscous, greek salad with feta cheese, hummus and pita chips
Friday: Pita sandwiches with hummus and veggies, Dinner: Tuna Noodle casserole
Saturday: Sandwiches, chips, juice and watermelon, Dinner: Chicken Legs, Sweet Potatoes, quinoa
Sunday: Lunch out or Bean Burritos

I love watching your shopping hauls. I grew up in the family with 8 children so I can relate to the amount of groceries. Especially recall buying 6 gallons of milk. We lived on a ranch so we had all of our own meat, but still purchased bread, eggs, cereal, vegetables, and fruits, etc in huge quantities.

It was cool! We raised mostly cattle and alfalfa to feed them, but from time to time we also had sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, and of course, dogs and cats!

My husband did our winco and costco shopping yesterday because I'm 4 days postpartum with our 7th. Wingo was $150 and costco was $685. We used to spend around $550ish on the same stuff! Prices have definitely gone up for sure.

I smile watching you buy meat. Growing up on a farm in Indiana Dad raised beef cattle. I'll never forget the year in college when Dad called and said to come home for the weekend because "we were doing meat." He hung the beef and we had to cut and wrap it. That year along with neighbors we did 3 full beefs. It was a crazy amount of beef but 3 freezers were full until the next fall.

@TheHappyCaravan , every spring we got chicks to raise the process for the freezer. We also had a huge garden. We had 2 huge freezers, one for meat and one for fruit and vegetables. Mom didn't can but froze everything. We would go pick strawberries and literally fill the trunk. Somethings were a family affair getting things prepped for the freezer, especially strawberries and corn.

If you want to pick a good watermelon, look for a dark green colored watermelon with a large yellow field spot. Also knock on it, a good one will sound hollow. Also these Golden Kiwis are amazing.

Hi all its time again for the weekly shopping. Love you💋 Melody. I love that child. She's always asking mom for those sweet threats and she always Said's Please mommy so polite. And she's only three. So cute. She's an angel.😇 Amber & Marc you have such sweet caring kids. And there they go going for the samples. They LOVE those samples. Melody likes seaweed. How many three year olds like seaweed. Not many. Melody is a unique child with a unique pallid. I guess that's a healthy upbringing, eating Healthy foods. Awesome Enoch and Melody on your violent lessons. No wonder why these kids are so good is you start them soon as they can walk. I started learning to playing the drums around eight years old. And she's has Naomi to help her who is so Talented herself. Blessing to all keep well and be safe. ❤❤🙏🙏

Haha! We just went to Costco and filmed on Tuesday, for the same reason Costco was closed Monday for the Holiday. I love Trader Joe’s! We need to go more often. Have you ever made kombucha? My husband always makes it; if you decide to try making it save the bottles and just refill them with your own. You did better on your grand total than us at Costco! Haha! Love from Wisconsin!

Are you growing any food in the back yard this summer to help cut the bill? You can always do a wall grow with levels. Foods going up more with all the mess going around and every port closed down and CA trucks on strike were all in a pickle. I also be looking for a farmer's market feeding a large wonderful group of kid's.

Felafel 🤤 have loved it for years and years ☺️ there was a Mediterranean bakery I went to when I was in the area… sooo yummy! Kombucha - I’ve just started to drink it, but I’m looking for it perhaps somewhere online where I can get a deal? And if I can order it, then I don’t have to try to lug it into the house- lol 😂- It’s 90 degrees here today! Do you ever buy some items in big bulk amounts? Like 50 pounds of rice or flour or pastas? I think you could save money on rice for sure. We buy 25 or 50 pound bags of rice. We are only a family of 4 but we still go thru it over time.

I’ve sort of gathered them over the years. It’s a bit of a challenge to find a meal that feeds a big tribe without breaking the bank but also keep the variety up so the kids aren’t bored!
