We recently have been able to rent the basement of the brownstone house that we've been renting and it has provided some more storage, study areas, and a playroom for the kids. Also Josiah can teach lessons in the basement. (If you are interested in lessons you can email him at joisiahdelamotte@gmail.com) I am so grateful for it! We used to have a garage in San Diego and the kids LOVED playing in there. If you look at my old homeschool vlog from a number of years ago you will see how much the kids loved the garage. Also upstairs there are very few closets so having 3 more closets in the basement/ cellar is such a blessing! Another BIG reason for wanting to rent the space is because we didn't want to disturb a downstairs neighbor with our practice and "child noises". Our neighbors in San Francisco worked from home and that was a CONSTANT concern! We had to practice in Golden Gate Park to keep everyone happy. But here the weather is not conducive to be practicing outside so having a house where we can practice during legal hours (7am - 10 pm) worry free is a HUGE blessing! #largefamilylife #nyc

Woww I think the basement would be a great place for the big kids!! Even if Josiah, Elijah and Pearl decided to make that their own apt/bedroom to have their own space.

Yes! I was thinking that. I buy a lots of fruits and veggies and I still have to buy those weekly but I can definitely buy more milk and frozen meat.

Wowza! That is an incredible apartment! It seems like it would be ideal for the older kids, especially Josiah if he goes to law school. He will need a quiet place to study to be successful. And it would be a great apartment for Elijah too if he winds up being a commuter! The best of both worlds for keeping your family together but giving the older kids a bit more independence. And that cellar is a dream for storage. God has truly blessed your family with this abundance of space and a kindly landlord to give you a discount. What a good man he is too!🙏

I checked their website and I'm very surprised to see that the cabinet is very affordable. I was expecting something more expensive. I may buy it in the future.

Melody is just the best🥰🥰🥰, definitely your best creation so far, she really has that Main Character energy which is no surprise given she's a Sagittarius like me. I would suggest giving her a RU-vid channel but it seems like she's mostly interested in just talking to mom cause she loves her so much so idk if that would work.

The oldest boy could have it as an apt for himself and pay a small amt of rent. Would help out and he would learn independence. You also could turn part into a playroom to expand and give you more room upstairs.

Actually, the garden level in NYC townhouses / brownstones were used as the kitchen and for deliveries that could enter the home at street level. Great that you have extra space and lucky you to have an owner willing to rent the space to you at a discount! Perhaps in the Spring some cleanup in the back yard for a vegetable garden ! Just a thought -- ask the landlord but confident he/she would approve !

You need to look at getting an upright or deep freezer from costco (or maybe a used one) then you can bulk buy some meats /foods when they are on sell at the store.

Your entire house, top to bottom is lovely. The basement is huge! How fortunate you are to have that space as well. When I watch Cash Jordan's videos about New York real estate, I'm always shocked at the huge rent cost for tiny apartments. I love Melody's assistance with your tour. Would be a great place for the older (adult aged ) kids to hang out . Personally wouldnt like a bedroom in the cellar area since there is no window escape if there was an issue. You Defiantley can stick a deep freezer down there, food storage for more room, would be a good area to stock up staples especially if they go on sale.

So happy you'll have more room and storage. You may want to put a dehumidifier in the basement. We used one in our basement in MN. And in our garage now out west. Helps prevent mold and mildew.😊
