6:18 “ residential fridge“ first of all you guys earned a subscription because your video to me it seems very refreshing and real. Not to say that other videos aren’t real however, your video seems to portray what it actually means to live on the road especially with children and every day life!!! your video is a breath of fresh air. It just feels very organic, open and honest! Thanks for the video!!

You were so nice to answer my question a month ago. Still have a couple more questions. I’ve been trying to find some reviews on these newer/bigger stove/ovens in the new RV’s. (Insignia, Blackstone, GE…). Do they keep the temperatures even and can they hold there temps? Second question, with your trailer being so long and all the “Frame Flex” going around. Have you been having any problems with your trailer?
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse 7 месяцев назад
Definitely opt for a larger oven if you can. Mine doesn't even fit a 9 x 13 dish with handles... It also does not get as hot as it says it does (we put a thermostat in to read it). Never gets to the 450 I'm promised. That said, I cook and bake in it all of the time. I make sourdough bread, casseroles, roasts, you name it. I just get creative. 😃 And we have a Ninja Foodie that replaced the microwave. Oh, good ol frame flex right now. If you haven't, watch Big RV, Big Truck's RU-vid videos on it. I think right now it's pinned more on the manufacturer than it is Lippert. And the big issue being talked about is the upper deck and pin box area, which we've had no issues with. That said, our wall is coming disconnected from the frame near our back door. We can literally see where it wasn't connected properly (again, manufacturer problem vs. frame itself problem) and we assume gets worse as you travel down the road and the frame flexes (the way it's intended to). We'll be doing a video here soon on our rig's downsides and the calamities we've faced so far - which in all honestly, is minimal compared to a lot of RVers. It's been 2.5 years and we've only had to leave our rig once for some 24 hour routine maintenance (because it was easier to leave it than stay).

I just took delivery of my 377fl! I want to install a desk just like yours. How did you attach the 2x4 to the slide. As far as I understand the framing on the slide is 2” aluminum. Did you just use self tapping aluminum screws on each end of 2x4? How long for the screws? 2x4 width plus 1”? Since the framing is 2”? Any info on this process would be greatly appreciated as I’m kinda terrified to screw into the slide. Thanks for the great video. I watched this at least a dozen times!
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse Год назад
First, congrats on your new RV! You are going to love it, we have been very happy with ours! Yes, the framing is 2" aluminum so you would need a screw long enough to get through the 2x4 and then into the aluminum. I used regular screws since its just aluminum, its not hard to get through. I put them into the wall about an inch from the back wall and an inch from the trim where it opens to the rest of the living room. I did two screws on each side. I did pre drill the 2x4 since it was so close to the end grain, didn't want it split going in or even later on from the stress of use and driving down the road. I did not pre drill the wall though I just went right in. I understand being terrified to put any screws into the walls, I've done it a few times now and I'm still terrified every time I have to do it. I figure if I mess it up, I can always fill the hole and then my wife can wallpaper over it! 😂 Feel free to dm us on IG if you have any more questions, happy to help.

Glad my leap of faith gives you the courage to take it on as well. I do want to add that whatever you choose to span the width of the slide out for the desktop will need some bracing on the underside to prevent it from bowing. We removed the desktop after we "finished" it to add some angle iron on the front edge of the countertop and then a 2x4 on its edge on the underside towards the back of the countertop. This got rid of the sag and allowed it to slide on the rails much more smoothly. I would also make your desktop about 1/2" to 3/4" less than the width of the slide out, it will prevent unwanted rubbing on the trim. I found that one out the hard way....

My husband and I are looking into getting a 5th wheel to spend a few moths out of the year traveling with our kids. Our only concern with buying a 5th wheel is, we have 2 big dogs as well and with our kids taking up the back seat there isn't enough room for the dogs to ride in the truck with us. What was your solution? Where do your dogs ride while you're driving?
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse Год назад
This is why we had to spend a little more on a very specific truck model. 😬 We did our research and found that the RAM Laramie had a single seat that would flip up in the back, separate from the other two seats that were connected. THEN (and this is the key) there's a floor that folds out to make it completely level across. Both of our 50 lb dogs can technically sit in that space with the kids next to each other on the other side, but it usually ends up that one lays down and takes it all up, and the other lays beneath the kids feet towards the middle. It's tight! But since our daughter is only 2 and has short legs, it works fairly comfortably. Some people have mentioned putting crates in the bed for the pups up against the cab (we have an extra long bed, so it could technically work) but we haven't tried it.

My wife and I are looking at the same model but 2024. My wife is sold on the trailer! But I’m mor concerned about maneuvering it and scraping the back end. We do tons of boon docking and some campgrounds. Right now I have a 35.5 foot 5th wheel and don’t have to many problems unless we go to a state or national park. Also, we’re spring to fall campers. Really want your opinion on the length of your trailer.
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse 8 месяцев назад
We haven't found the length is too much of an issue (though does limit us in some state and national parks since they'll put a max length on their sites) - but since the axel is so far forward, the tail swing is pretty wide. Usually one of us spots it as we pull out, because we'll think we cleared a tree, but that swing will get us! The drop frame is definitely an issue. On Harvest Hosts, our profile mentions our drop frame, but we've never actually had a problem down a dirt road, on grass, anything like that. Boon docking has been mostly a breeze, though we do avoid a lot of rough BLM roads. It's more about the angle of a hill. We've had issues in places like Vermont (that was our biggest SCRAPE down a hill in a campground that was supposedly "big rig friendly"), Tennessee, and we've run into it a few times on steep hills in state parks. Sometimes even coming out of a gas station where a hill goes down then the road goes up - can't believe how close it comes to scraping! It is definitely always on our minds. BUT, sticking to truck routes always avoids any scraping down the road, and we'll generally call a campground before booking to make sure they don't have any drastic hills. It's such a great floorplan, but we definitely knew this model was going to require some extra forethought.

Hi, very informative video. We're considering this RV, would you say a 9 year old would have any problems sleeping or playing in the loft area? Thanks.
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse 10 месяцев назад
Honestly, probably. Our son LOVED this layout and loved that the bedroom was so cozy. It's actually what made us consider it like we did. But in the last few months (he's now 6) he's started complaining about it. Granted, give a kid enough time and they'll probably complain about anything 😅 but he is starting to get tall enough that it's harder for him to sit upright on his bed without hitting his head, and that's grown frustrating. He sleeps great, and a twin mattress does fit.

We are very interested in purchasing this camper model. Our question is, when the AC is on in the children's room, is it cold for them and very hot in your room?
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse 3 месяца назад
@@RVFinder There's definitely an imbalance, but not that extreme. It'll just be slightly cooler in their room than in ours. In the summer, we actually turn the vent covers to reduce air flow and it helps a lot. The biggest issue is when our dryer is running in our bedroom. It'll heat up our room, and just kick the AC on indefinitely fighting the heat from that. But that's during the day, and no one really minds it being colder upstairs.

We are looking at this same model, how is the temperature in the bedroom with having only one vent?
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse Год назад
In the master bedroom? There are two for the AC, one for the heat. We supplement with a space heater in the winter. Our room definitely stays the coldest, BUT we sleep hot and prefer it being cooler. So we haven't seen it as a problem most nights. I'd say a bigger issue is there not being a heat vent up in the loft (if you have kids staying up there). Thankfully the rig has an electric heat option, and it gets VERY toasty up there utilizing the AC vents for heat. So we'll often warm it up right before bed, and then just supplement with a space heater that's on a set temperature and kicks on super low (and quiet) periodically.

What are the specs on the truck you tow that with?
@thiscreativehouse
@thiscreativehouse Год назад
7,000 lbs payload capacity, 37,000 lbs towing capacity. We have to watch our axle weight given we do not have a dually. And also watch our trailer axle weight closely. We travel fairly light (for what we have), being mindful to not fill all of our available storage as it'd put us overweight on the fifth wheel's specs. We've weighed at CAT scales before.
