Family of Walmart employee found dead in bakery oven offered support by Nova Scotia Sikh Society

The president of Canada’s Maritime Sikh Society has spoken out following news of the death of an Indian woman at a Halifax Walmart last week.
“The community has been shocked by the whole incident,” Harjit Seyan told Global News. “The immediate family is absolutely shocked. They are in a kind of a trauma. We are really sorry to hear of such a tragic event,” he added.
Seyan says members of the Sikh Society sprung into action upon hearing the news, offering comfort, hot meals, and to set up a fundraiser for the woman’s immediate family.
Halifax police confirmed on Tuesday that the 19-year-old employee was found dead inside of the Walmart’s walk-in bakery oven. According to authorities, the victim - who recently moved to Canada from India - was found Saturday night and an investigation of the “complex” incident is ongoing.

There is no way to accidentally have the door close on you while operating the oven. It is either murder (99% most probable), or possibly the woman turned on the oven, stepped inside the oven and used the safety button to pull the door shut, then she pressed on the safety button and it failed to unlock the door. You would have to be out of your mind insane to try a stunt like that, but that is the only scenario that could explain the situation where murder is not at play.

For anyone blaming Walmart or anything else, just remember that this oven does not lock. The girl on the inside could have walked out at any point. Perhaps a language barrier prevented her from understanding the safety precautions. But even then...common sense should be screaming open the door.

Ok. Walmart has Cameras everywhere..You cannot tell me, there was no camera in there..They always watch their food, a big sell part.. And they believe in camera watching...Who worked back there! Never, ever, is it one worker in the cooking part of the store. This is sad and Scary...How? And who turned on that oven? It's heartbreaking to see the loss of an innocent life in such a tragic way, even more so at just 19 years old. My deepest condolences to the family. ❤🙏🏼 The comments mocking this death are beyond disturbing, it's sickening and disrespectful. This was someone's child, a life taken too soon. As a society, we often fail to live in peace and look past race, even in a country like Canada, where every one of us is an immigrant or descended from immigrants. It's deeply sad that these divisions persist. Additionally, there's a responsibility here on Wal-Mart for not ensuring proper safety measures in their equipment, regardless of whether this tragedy was deliberate.

This girl was from the Sikh faith. Trudeau was trying to support the Sikh community by condemning India for the murder of a Sikh leader named Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India denied having anything to do with the shooting of this man. I hope this young Sikh girl’s barbaric passing wasn’t another hate crime towards a Sikh person and connected to what Trudeau was saying.

The mother apparently found her daughters burnt body. A Commercial Oven like that one the doors do not lock. This was likely a murder or perhaps an honor killing. A autopsy will determine if she was drugged or knocked out and someone turned the Oven on. Ether way a ruthless way to end a young girls precious life. I hope they find the truth.

No machine in canada is designed to turn on automaticcally or getting locked in it , these days for safety reasons. Like our cars trunk has open lever inside , incase someone gets accidentally locked. Btw , that oven has safety turn off switch inside , and that oven has a latch on outside, you need to turn it to lock the door. So it can not get closed automatically like our house doors. Someone has to close it and turn the latch. Looks like a murder. WalMart deleted cctv footage of the incident.

Wait and find out I guess. It has already been stated that it wasn't a malfunction of the oven. This happened between 9:30 pm and early the next morning. So I don't understand where people are getting that the customers could hear her screaming. If that was the case someone, anyone would have run to the rescue.
