Sorry you lost your little sis, big sis. Nothing can replace a little sis. And there's nothing like losing one. A lifelong best friend, really. Hope you find peace.
it's strange bc another group was out there same time and was fine... i wonder if one of the girls died then the other one panicked and it was too much emotionally with the heat. @@justagirlnamedshawn
This is very sad but this happens every year! It is called the Valley of Fire for a reason! Red Rock Canyon the Salt Flats all of those are dangerous because of their natural conditions. You take your life in your hands when you go to these places. I understand the love for hiking I understand the love for the outdoors I am very sorry for the family like I said this happens every year. My condolences
Heat exhaustion can easily sneak up on you. You may not even realize it until it's too late. In 109 degrees, you really gotta watch out. I'm sorry to hear this.
I’m so sorry this happened to these wonderful young women. I saw an expert who said there is no amount of water that will help you in these extreme temperatures.
@@My2CentsYallI've heard this happens a lot. Deceased bodies of hikers in similar conditions, found with water. The idea is that people are trying to save their water for as long as they can. Experts say you should drink when thirsty. Really sad.
@@Jake420 Im just use to the quality of people going in down the toilet. people are literally stabbing and choking people out they don't know. I never put anything to doubt when i deal with people.
I find this a strange thing to say. She was 35 and died way too young. If she picked a cooler day, she would still be alive. Underestimated the heat effects......Very sad!
So sad, I hate that the two Hikers endured such a tragedy. Life is crazy, died doing what they both enjoyed doing but in extreme heat. Its only getting hotter yearly, people take caution doing such outdoor adventurous activities such as hiking. I hike as well...my condolences to the families of both ladies. 🙏
Beautiful girl, young and full of energy, doing good things, helping others. Sad we had to know her under such tragic circumstances. Rest in Peace to both.
I’m not understanding why people are going out there doing this in that heat. It’s silly and dangerous. That girl should not be dead over something like this. 🤦🏾♀️
Yeah, doesn't make sense. If I was a hiker, the mountains and desert would never see my face in the summer. Fall and spring I'd be hitting them pavements and rocks, but summer... hell no!
big mistake to take prospect trail in the heat. The big mistake was the distance being more than five miles round trip and starting out early in day relatively cool. Once sun rises you get burned up in record time trying to head back.
Nobody can beat the desert athlete or not. You need water. The elements are greater than you. The organs need fluid and the sweat and desert evaporates all moist ( dry air and hot weather) nobody wants to have a back pack full of water? It’s heavy but it will save your life. It’s not enough for all day though. I wish people understood that the desert drains all moist out of you it’s bigger than you.
Take at least a gallon of water. Take chugs regularly even if you don't feel thirsty. If you are sweating, you need it. If you feel lightheaded, find some shade and relax, until dusk if you need to. Don't try and tough it back to the trailhead.
I just dont understand why, in spite of being skilled and experienced, people take chances like this. In extreme temperatures, etc. ? I giot iff a tour bus in the Joshua Forest briefly. It was 120 degrees. U got back on the bus immediately. I realize i was not a seasoned outdoorsperson and all but really, that wint prevent u from literally burning up. Theres a kind of common sense lacking in them
Let me share a simple trick when going hiking in this heat, that will save your life...bring a spray bottle with semi frozen water and another smaller bottle frozen ... if you start feeling disoriented, slowly spray the cool water at the top of your head, to cool the brain down. Do not pour but spray in mist, ... once you regain your composure, spray intermittently as you trek and sip on the other bottle of water, dont drink, and that will be enough to get anyone through a few hours ... The goal here is to trick the brain into thinking the body is cool since its your head is the thermostat for the body and the only thing thats going to shut down the body function thinking its protecting you but in essence killing you... also, spray the mist in your mouth dont drink, spray!
Food isn’t what kills you, the hotter weather 109 is more like 118~ those rocks heat up and obviously the misconception of I’m an athlete. Evan Tanner a ufc fighter died in the same fashion the misconception of not realizing that you are being evaporated by the desert heat ( Rest in peace😢)
@@suziegusti291I was wondering that too. But I guess it’s like the Ocean. You can tell people not to swim when there is a rip current but they do it anyway.
@@suziegusti291cause there are perfectly safe ways of enjoying the park without hiking, lots of roads to drive a air conditioned vehicle on. It's not for the state to nanny people and decide what is safe and what isn' t for individuals, each individual needs to make their own assessment on whether it is safe.
Sorry for your loss, but all were warned of the heat, never tempt God, this was totally avoidable, but it doesn't lessen the pain.35 years old is so young,to be healthy and fit in the morning and gone by afternoon, by heat index, she and other hiker baked alive
dont anyone love these silly people enough to not let them go running all there fluid out in these tempertures? and dont say you couldnt stop them because you could have expressed your concern. Who are they trying to impress?
My ex call her sister from the day they met Jessika at albertson on Craig and Decatur. I met her when she just 18 years old. She set goals and accomplish it. We used call her ours😢 daughter big sister. What a beautiful soul. Love ❤and sleep well Queen. Kim is lost and confused that you gone. 😢😢
I remember I was walking to work and I got really dizzy. It was so hot. And where I was it was an isolated part of the neighborhood on a Sunday. I was so scared of passing out and no one driving by to see me. Scared the sh!t out of me. Now I am very careful.
As a hiker I would never hike in the desert in the summer , those are fall and winter hikes , for summer there are tons of beach hikes , I live in California so obviously we have the best of both , but we're a short drive away from the Vegas heat
I was working in the park that day, I knew something was wrong at 9 am. No vehicle should be at that trail during this time of year. It was a horrible day for everyone involved. I'm so sorry this had to happen. They headed out early with intentions of beating the heat, but they just didn't plan on it being so hot. Food wasn't an issue, its protective gear and water that was lacked. I hated this day, I cried and cried, knowing it was preventable.
There are micro-climates all around the area. A few are slightly cooler shade/elevation; but more often hotter than the 109 which is a general reading. Too risky & dangerous to push your organs to these limits. Praying for the families.
The national and state parks and monuments need to close the trails when the conditions are just too dang hot, snowy, icy, whatever weather danger. People may not like it but it would save lives and these two women would still be alive.
Thank god that does not excite me at all. Hiking in very extreme temperature out where you could be eaten by wolves or bit by snakes. My question is didnt they bring water what happen to their water and why were they seperated.
And electrolytes. Actually, just don't go. When all that's between you and death is a jug of water and salt tablets your best choice, if you have one, is to not go.
