He probably didn't get the lyrics and the meaning because lyrics in Kpop when translated to English, the words they choose and how they portray it in English isn't the common, typical words being use in western lyrics, like it's more sophisticated in a way, if that makes sense. Hilarious. Kpop is still one of the funnest music genres I've ever encountered. The more fake reactions I see people giving Kpop in the name of being "open minded" just so that they can secretly ride the money train bc they know fans will believe them and like their video (or they do it to avoid the toxic community), the more that I really appreciate both normal AND indifferent/dismissive reactions. Direct translations for songs can be weird and for native speakers, sometimes you read translations and think...why did they go with that translation? So when your dad said some of the lyrics are "bs" (just like the US), it's kind of true (a lot of times, they will dumb it down to the basics so much for non-native speakers that it doesn't make much sense).😂 And other lyrics are just hard to understand without cultural context. I think we forget that "POP" is short for "popular" so the music will mostly go for what is already trending. They're riding the wave not recreating the wheel.

My mom actually likes them quite a bit now getting to know them besides their music, you know? Kind of sad you cut off so many songs, especially Daechwita, but it's okay... 💜 Side note: 37:44 This could be long... sorry in advance Okay, so it was a bit difficult for me to read the lyrics in English but hear it in Korean, and it was pretty tricky to comprehend most of the song at the beginning of my journey 4 years ago (with BTS/Kpop). But honestly, I found it's just better to listen to the song first, get the vibe and only focus on its sound, and interpret what I want for how it makes me feel. Then I go on genius lyrics and read them myself as I listen to the song another time. I feel like you won't appreciate the meaning or even understand it without knowing how the artist thinks and presents their music. So, I would not believe it has anything to do with the lyrics not making sense because of the Korean language itself. But instead because translating everything into English, making it rhyme and fit the chorus, and all of that just requires a lot of work and effort that often gets lost in translation, sometimes even simplified to make it sound better because of the transition between two languages. Hence, why I watch, explain videos on certain songs afterward. My dad is convinced I know Korean by now, but it's just a matter of taking the time to actually care and not get overwhelmed because it's a different language. Plus, I think it's just fun to listen to a new song in a different language, and guess what the songs are about!

the thing about the lyrics is that these youtube channels are so pressed to put out the translations as soon as the song get out that they fuck up all of it. they dont do research and it and put it up like this . a big mess without correlation. jump from one sentence to another and it's not coherent. there is big loss when it come to translating from any language to english( i would know i speak french and others languages ) so you have to be sure that it's on BANGTAN TV or BIGHIT youtube channel ; Or straight up go to the genius website while you listen to the audio. they can follow the lyrics . because BTS is really known for their lyrics and it breaks my heart everytime someone doesnt get the just of it. and of course it can be very cryptic at times but the sentences at least are coherent because greats minds wrote it. there lyrics in louder than bombs make perfect sense and it deals with mental health. and please when your dad say somethin that is not true , can you try to correct him. so he doesnt leave the place thinking something that is not. like per example he think daechwita dont make no sense but the thing is he doesnt speak korean so he dont know. and the decor as NOTHING TO DO WITH AFRICAN CULTURE. i am 100% bron and raised and i can testify , that this is all korean culture based( or at least asian) and i think you could have told him that. so it's not his fault. kpop is so much fun but get so much hit that to be able to show it to your family is really proof of your courage ; i just couldnt with mine. and for that i think that you really have to be prepared. like ask your fellow armies the best sites so that when people make statement you are able to respond with correct answers otherwise some of them leave having way more negative tought than positive.. trust me i have been there . im so sorry for this long paragraph . bye

I can look over a lot of comments but to say the lyrics don't make sense is wrong. They make sense but you have to read them and understand the meaning behind it. Take bts louder than bombs, you have to re watch it over and over to fully understand it. Also like ANY language there is gonna be loose/lost translations because not every word in English will translate to a word in any other language. I'm using BTS has examples because I know them the most. Go go is a party song like JK literally says where's the party at?. Also to take a completely Korean song and then re write it into English the lyrics would change drastically.
