I actually discovered this show, recently. Honestly, it's one of the most heartwarming things I've watched. I don't know, there's just something special about it.
Steven Matthews I don't know if you'll ever see my comment, since you left your comment *5 years* ago, but I wanted to let you know that the TV channel "POP" airs "Family Ties". I have DirecTV, and the channel POP is channel 273, but I'm sure it's different wherever you live. Just wanted to let you know. I love this show, too. I watched it as a teenager.
SPOILERS (if you're not past this season) Alex actually has really bad problems and it makes me so sad, because he's my favorite. He had a drug problem, got pressured into losing his virginity, lost his friend and had a guilt complex because of it, couldn't function after getting dumped, had insomnia, had/has little to no friends, has major insecurity problems and gets played by women all the time. It also seems like sometimes the family just shoves it under the rug in the memory episodes. It's so sad but makes for a damn good character.
Do you know what season and episode is the "getting dumped and not being able to get over it" I've been watching family ties episodes, mostly for MJF and I've seen all the ones you listed but that one.
@Alicia en el Pais de las Maravillas I obviously meant in general, All countries, Cities, & Towns had their fair share of problems in all decades! So your comment makes no sense
the pills help him stay awake but by the time he stop them it was to late and when he crash he crash so hard that his body punish him by not waking up in time and making him miss the test that he had studied as a consequence
I'm gonna go on a lamb and say this particular episode of FAMILY TIES was part of the inspiration for the SAVED BY THE BELL episode titled "Jessie's Song" where Jessie Spano was hooked on caffeine pills in order to stay up and study for a geometry test, and try to keep everything else in her life together.
Probably! Everything gets copied these days, yes I know Saved by the Bell was in the late 80's into the 90's, but I think the 90's was when the copy cat in films were going on.
Except they did this in a way that was actually. The Jessie scene was way over dramatic it was unintentionally funny. And supposedly it was originally supposed to be speed the Jessie got hooked on but Peter Engle thought it wasn't kid appropriate.
You know I wish the Keaton's were my family Mallory seemed like alot of fun and Alex knew alot of stuff. They are alot nicer than my family I have today.
I know.. wish for that too. We cant change our families the way they are, we still gotta love them! But maybe , we.could create a new family Alike Keatons ;) this can be changed.
Nobody ever seems to mention the benefits of speed or other "uppers". People get more stuff done. They eat less, use less toilet paper, save water by showering less. Their teeth fall out so they save money on toothpaste and brushes. They don't live too long so they won't be taking Social Security...all sorts of benefits here that nobody mentions.
The sad irony of this is that MJF went on to curate a pretty serious coke problem (what actor in the 80s didn't?). I remember there was some question as to if his coke usage actually exacerbated his condition with Parkinsons.
Hey there! Have you considered intellectus diet (google intellectus424dietcom)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my sister lost tons of weight with it.
If that scene was done in this ridiculous era, fox would have been laid with a sexual harassment suit for touching a minor. Yes, things have gotten this stupid
Anti drug propaganda. I grew up with this show. It was on when I was a teen I think. This show always had some sort of message about it. It was a good show but it had a strong religious undertone that I didn't like. Nobody had perfect families growing up and this show made it seem like if you had any sort of NORMAL human experiences there was something wrong with you. Again, this is coming from a guy who has seen every episode of the entire series probably twice. So I took a little speed..."It's like I didn't even know who you were." Give me a break. Seeing this again after all these years the show is embarrassing now. For those of you wondering what this show is about Michael was a republican, political, straight A student. He took some speed during this episode to help him study for something in school, it's been like 25 years so I can't remember exactly.
+The Truth There was a made for tv movie in the 80s titled Not My Kid [can be found on RU-vid] which is the epitome of all the just say no to drugs preaching. Totally naive and laughable movie.
You're an idiot. You're blind to how much society has regressed. 2010s society has zero standards, people have become brain-dead idiots with zero morals or empathy. The 80s were objectively better than the 2010s. People are pigs nowadays.
