FAMILY UPDATE & Road Trip Oregon To Arizona // EFRT S8 EP49 

My dad turns 80 in October, my mom 74 in April and they celebrated their 50th in December. I flew out to spend Christmas and celebrate their anniversary with them as I know they are getting older. I'll be the one driving or flying to the east coast to visit them. I'll drive them back here to Washington if I need to.

So we are driving from Boca Raton, Florida to Los Angeles to help our daughter get established, and we arrive at an RV campground in the middle of nowhere, and we are literally parked in a Cruise America RV right behind the EFRT compound. There's the new overland vehicle, and Worsely, and the original Mercedes camper. I can't believe it. Hello Van Stralen family! I think our Golden Retriever, Satchel has been barking at Lando. So sorry for your recent losses. Regards from your campground neighbors for this night.

Oh my goodness! Those steaks were big enough for 3 meals! 😊 The clouds close to the beginning were fabulous! The snuggles with Lando warm and sweet. God paints some stunning pictures! He never ceases to amaze.

Lando loves all of you but he belongs to Dan for sure. Nothing like the love from a dog.

I'm glad you drove down the coast as I've never driven along the coastline. When I drove to Arizona, many years ago, I entered the states from Alberta. So I really had no reason to drive further west and south. Man, the scenery is just beautiful!! Oh you're not driving along the coastline. Oh well, the scenery is just as beautiful. Oh I was wondering where the boys would sleep in the truck. I really enjoyed this video. So much good advice from both of you. Thank you!!!

I love this video! and how you opened up about so much about what is going on in your lives. How you honor God and His work and presence in and around you. Always hard when the kiddos leave. Our son comes back to WI from his home in Colorado a few times a year and my wife always sheds a few tears(me to I guess) when he leaves.

My mom passed almost four years ago and with your inspiration i was able to get out with my son and enjoy nature camping and roadtrips to the coast which helped processing the loss of my mom. Happy New Year EFRT gang! It was nice seeing that trip back from Portland to AZ. I've lived in northern MT, ID, WA and CA and now back in my home state of AZ. Thanks for sharing the strengths and losses of 2023. Unfortunately, no one lives forever, and I too know the loss of parents, family, and spouses, but because of my 3 - F's (FAITH, family and friends) I live to see a new year! I’m already looking up forest preserves in my own backyard to take my kids on some day trips. I think sometimes we overcomplicate things and say I can’t do that or that’s too expensive. Hello EFRT Family. Happy New Year! I think we have always had situations all over the world but now with social media, it's brought to our attention in greater quantity along with more influence from other's opinions, which is why we always see more bad thing than good things. Attention being the currency of social media, we have some channels like yours where we are provided value for that attention but then we have other posts where the content is skewed based on the content creator's political or religious opinions. I do agree we have more dangerous situations around us. While we need to be prepared for that danger as best as we can, we can't let it stop us from living life. I'm glad the kids have their own things going on. They have lived amazing lives and have surely learned so much that can be shared with the rest of us giving them a legitimate source of income. I have enjoyed Dan's channel for his specific style and I can't wait to see what Pete has done with Expedition Overland. Then Caroline, working hard to help others. Sounds like the type of person she is. Doing something from the heart. Hey Pete, have you thought of developing your own film? I used to develop my own back and white film. I used to have a Canon AE-1 Program. I regret selling it. You probably have enough space to do it, the only question is the project to make the print.

I'm excited to see what the new year brings your family. It should be a fun ride.

I have hiked to the top of Mount Shasta while staying in the town of Mt Shasta at the Koa Campground. I used to meet my girlfriend now my wife when she would travel down from Whidbey Island, Wa to meet me at the campground while I was serving with Operation Deep Freeze in Point Mugu, Ca. Love the area. Driven the I-5 Corridor many times from San Diego to Whidbey Island, Wa but also from Point Mugu, Ca to Phoenix, Az to see my parents along I-10 Corridor. Happy New Year!!!
