I was having a problem like that with my GoPro. I hit record it record for 10 seconds stop. I hit record again and it'll be fine it does that like every time. I don't know if it's a setting that I don't know about but it's worth checking.
Hm Ill try, maybe try updating firmware too, I did that and it seems that it is a bad battery causing it. Need to do some more testing, but had it happen again the other day and noticed it was that specific battery
