@@TheAntiqueNomad hey George . I’m thinking since you travel around , you have a better chance of finding this item to resell than I do . Look for signed skateboards from Tony Hawk . 😊
The KLM airline Dutch village bottles were given out on flights to and from the Netherlands and SHOULD have a wax seal that keeps the Jenever inside. Jenever is similar to gin and quite delicious and is a popular drink in the Netherlands. My father was born in Zaandam and we’ve collected an entire village over the years.
@@TheAntiqueNomad I was curious as to why I didn't receive one, in 1994, when I flew KLM Airlines, to Amsterdam, from O'Hare . . . I flew coach class, that's why, here's more info., from KLM: "Our Delft Blue miniature houses, filled with Dutch gin, each one depicts a real Dutch building. These unique gifts have been around since the 1950s, and are a true collector’s item! You receive one when travelling in Business Class, on an intercontinental route. House #104: Valkenburg aan de Geul train station: To celebrate our birthday, we release a new house on 7 October each year. In 2023, we created a miniature Valkenburg aan de Geul train station for our 104th birthday."
Hi George, Marilyn and I have a complete set of the teachers edition of Dick and Jane. She found them in a school that was closing many years ago. We were both teachers and really treasure them. Always enjoy your videos. Hugs
A friend of mine had a Ladies luncheon in her home. She has a large dining room and with a large table that service 12 people she had the table set with the lovely desert Rose pattern! It was her mothers and the table was gorgeous. All set with those dishes. This is a great show. Thank you so much. I’m sorry I missed the live feed!
Yes, Pendleton is popular in Texas also! I made my queen size bedspread out of three blankets and at the foot of the bed lies a folded queen size Pendleton chief Joseph blanket! Is perfect to pull up on us on cold winter nights!
Good evening, George. Cheese keepers have always interested me. Maybe I should've collected those, instead of beverage sets...less real estate to display them 😂 I liked that oak table, with the ball & claw feet. You got a great deal on that Czech spatter vase! I'd have gotten the piano shawl and used it on the back of a sofa. I liked that one. Believe it or not, Northwood's G & C pattern is one I don't care for. That pattern is one I don't have, among all 65 beverage sets I have 😏 Loved that wall sconce kerosene lamp! I'd find...or make...a place for that one. I never had a pet rock. Even when I was young, and those things were popular, they would raise an eyebrow 🤨😂 The large basket, next to the black globe, really caught my attention. Those were really great places! Thanks for taking us along!
I love the beverage sets, I must say I have an idea of what your home looks like based on picturing them, but I could add cheese keepers if that happens! I always like those tables, about 1 in 3 is not rickety but I would take any that are solid. The Czech vase, such a silly low price! I liked that shawl and sofa use is a yes. I actually am not a G&C fan personally either, I like the more elaborate patterns in general. I could envision you with that wall sconce lamp too! Pet rocks were so ridiculous, I presume that people were young and waitng to have kids and that it was a social comment. I overlooked the big basket, so easy to get transfixed! I was glad to get to see a place where true antiques still exist, they're harder to find these days. Happy hunting!
@@TheAntiqueNomad The beverage sets are definitely my "thing". I started collecting them in the 1970s - when they were more affordable - and now I have more than I actually have space to put all of them. If I started collecting cheese keepers, I'd have to have an addition to the house 😂 I have two child-size ones, but that's all the cheese keepers I have...and I'm not exactly sure where they are right now 🤔 If those oak tables are a bit rickety, it isn't too difficult to take them apart and re-glue. I've done that. I used to have a swing-arm wall sconce, but I sold it when I moved here. That one was a beauty, and I have no aversion to using my kerosene lamps. That one would be fantastic lit. That large basket looked like it had a figure as the knob on the lid. It looked really interesting. Yes! It is great to see places that still present true antiques! I don't know where they're all hiding, but they are getting harder to find.
I get so tickled when you talk about your time at Pilgrim Glass. My Me-Ma lived in Chesapeake, Ohio, just across the river and it was always a treat to go to the studio and shop for glass.
Hi George! So good to hear/see you again. Have you ever been to the Studebaker Museum in South Bend IN! It’s in Northern IN and Notre Dame is right next to it. Elkhart is about 20 miles East, and I have committed to opening a booth at Antiques on Beardsley. I’m so excited! I am going to start moving in this week. Safe travels!
What documentaries has your friend done ? Maybe I’ve seen some ? I saw Tina Turner as an opening act when Lionel Ritchie toured in Calgary . Amazing voice !!! RIP Tina, you’re missed ❤. I also saw Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones in Edmonton , Alberta . Once in a lifetime opportunity , very enjoyable . My biggest regret of never seeing a certain band is Led Zepplin . I’m sure if you ever come across a Jimmy Page guitar , it’s worth a fortune 😊. You find the most interesting antique malls . Again some things I never heard of . Thank you for the lesson once more . Antiques and vintage one just keeps on finding new things to learn about .
You're welcome! She's done several, including Affluenza, one called Oil and Water about an Ecuadorian man whose village sent him to college in Seattle and he came back to find Chevron had destroyed his village, and some other pretty heavy duty stuff!
Incredible knowledge!! How do you know what all those pieces are, George?? I.enjoy watching so much, am learning a lot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I had an old picnic set that I picked up in New Zealand. It was made in England. It was very pretty and it was in the jadeite green. The problem was the bakelite stuff gets old. And it turns. And it starts to smell. Which is not nice. I was sorry that it did that. I had it for quite a few years before that happened.
Fun fun fun video. I sobbed when my parents refused to buy me a pet 🪨. Dad told me go outside get a small 🪨. He handed me a cardboard box that he poked holes in.😜. Enjoy your travels and happy thrifting.🎉
Thank you for Sharing. What a wonderful A Wonderful Antique store. So many interesting things . I so enjoy your commantary. And yes I remember the pet Rock LOL😂. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day. I also enjoyed your camera helper.
We had an Electrolux canister vac (early ‘60’s model I think) when I was growing up that had the same woven tube and the same blue/silver color scheme.
Enjoyed this video very much! I loved the Northern Exposure TV series. The French beaded folk hat at the beginning may have been the best looking hat on you of all the ones I’ve seen you try on.
I think Howdy Doody is riding a pig because he couldn’t find a chicken. Anothe great video sir, I wish I could visit as many great antique stores as you do, but thank you for bringing us along for such an entertaining and informative ride! Warmest wishes from Liverpool England 😉💐
Oh, I suppose my Blenko/Pilgrim glass collection, my favorite Treasure Craft/Pottery Craft pieces and NW regional artists (along with coins) are my favorites! I picked some cool Canadian pieces in Vancouver this weekend though
that’s awesome! That’s a great collection & I’ll have to keep an eye out for these items. Thank you for sharing your experience and collection with me.
Hi George. I keep seeing the desert rose pattern in your videos. I was wondering, if you are aware of the very similar "Wildrose" pattern that was introduced by Villeroy & Boch in Germany in 1969. The resemblance is somewhat striking.
It may be where you lived, we're close to the same age. In Southern California, I remember litter in lots of places when I was very young., it stopped when they started posting signs about giving out fines around 1971. I don't own a TV either, by the way.
@@gailcathey5642 Yes, and the owl: Give a Hoot; Don't Pollute . . . not to leave out the famous 1970s tv ads with the Native American Indian, (upon his horse) shedding tears at our litter.
