I'm a native of South Carolina. My peoples are from what we call the Low Country, although now I live in the Upstate. Thank you for featuring the Gullah food. Your video makes me want to call in sick to work and hit the road to Edisto Beach. The Low Country is Heaven, Brother Mark!
Wow, this food tour focusing on Gullah Geechee and soul food sounds absolutely amazing! The Gullah Geechee people have done a remarkable job preserving their West African culture, especially along the coast of the Carolinas. From their traditions to music and heritage, they have also managed to preserve their unique and delicious cuisine. I can already imagine the mouthwatering home-cooked food you'll be enjoying on this tour. From okra and stews to fried chicken and pigtail, every dish promises to be a delightful treat for the taste buds. And let's not forget about the rice and garlic crabs, which are sure to add even more flavor to the experience. I'm thrilled that you'll be sharing your food adventure through this video. It's a fantastic opportunity for us to vicariously enjoy all the delicious dishes and get a glimpse into the rich culinary traditions of the Gullah Geechee people. Bon appétit!
Mark, this video was terrific. Not only because that's where my family is from, but the way you enjoyed the food made it like I was almost there tasting it too.
As a native, great job on your choices. The restaurants you’ve visited so far are true local favorites. Y’all researched well. If you need any recommendations on tours, or literature on the culture I’ll be happy to oblige. Thanks.
Many a time he bumps into local folk who recognize him and they offer him recommendations. Just like in one of his Laos vids a dude kept poking his face into the camera and said "I know you!" Next thing you know he is in the vid with Mark next day at a recommended food joint.
Mark, thanks for stopping by S.C. to show the world some of the tasty Gullah foods. Enjoyed the segment and will visit when I'm in the area. Hello Micah and Ying!!
Another amazing video . Never fails to get my appetite for adventure and food going! Love seeing you always supporting the small businesses & getting the word out . Some people only do over the top luxury places or buffets ,but we can count on you to show us the true meaning of soul food in any country or cuisine 🙏🙏💚
Hey Mark, could you make a top 5 or top 10 of the best meals you ate since you started your channel??? I bet most of your viewers would be very curious to know that!!!
Exactly! Appears he has to like everything to satisfy business owners. If he told the truth people wont invite him to record... big reason why I think.
Remind me to NOT visit a place like "Hannibal's", where they are so "QUANG", they wouldn't go out of there way to seat Mark and his family nor be on camera. 😡
I love how you go to every corner of the world Mark and bring awareness to the African origins of American food culture. Kudos to you....don't stop what you're doing.
I’m just stunned… the vibrancy of the tomatoes… the crispy and juiciness of the chicken… the creaminess of the macaroni and cheese… the fragrancy of the rice…
@@beats4life971 No she was right. The Caribbean came first. We had the slave trade first. The Europeans landed in the Carib in 1492 and landed in the US in the 1600's or so.
@charlottecamila2859 it's a mixed. when they landed in the Caribbean's they had no slaves. They Conquer the Indigenous. The frist slaves port was South carolina and virginia.
Mark has had a special place in my heart for at least the past 5 years. The only thing I am consistently questioning myself is: when Mark is eating and giving the amazing food reviews, are Mark’s wife and son waiting for him to finish before starting to eat or do they get their own food?
South Carolina is my father’s home land I am Geehee. These are the food of my family. My father was a chef and an amazing cook! Thank you for sharing !
Pro move how Mark decided to sit hanging out the side of the car. Avoided the sun and the picture quality was sick. Mark is a seasoned pro and you see it with every pre editing and post editing decisions he makes. Props
Been a while since I watch mark's video, I'm surprised with the new, more crisps colour grading and a fish-eye-ish pov slash lens. Is it a new camera? Everything looks exceptional, so pretty and colorful. It really catch the beautiful sky of the city and making those foods look scrumptious.
I LOVE all of your videos! I’m always drooling! Lol. And I truly live vicariously through your eyes when you travel abroad to different countries. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
The crabs are served cold so you can heat it up and the butter melts down. But they are really good even served that way. Garlic crab trays are my favorite. Even with all the sauces out here today inspired by RU-vid(which are good), nothing beats a good ol garlic crab butter sauce. Loved this.
Thanks Mark for another wonderful Video 📹 I love your eating and all the different places and food you eat May God Continue To Bless You And Your Family Tell Your Wife to get in some of the Videos 📹 to I love seeing your Son enjoying all the food and the places 😀.
I'm not 100 percent positive but I think Ravenel, South Carolina is named after the very prominent Ravenel family which has played a very significant role in South Carolina history for many generations.
My mother is from st George Shirley evans aka Shirley small. I grew eating all this and more. A pork pot with white rice and mustard greens will make your knees weak.
Hi Mark. I don’t think I said enough. I watch you all the time and I would love to meet you and your family. I live in Georgia USA. We have good food also.
I’m curious to know what do you do with all the food when your finished, surely you don’t consume it all. You must donate it? But who’s gonna eat it after it’s been played over.
