My husband is suffering from Alzheimer’s. It’s gotten bad the past year. But he loves these videos and watching them together is one of the few things we can still do together and have fun.
I have to tell you, Arthur, that you have one of the most pleasant voices that I've ever heard. Half of the people I've never even heard of, but you always make everybody relevant, interesting, and I want to know more. You've definitely found your niche to be able to take such a sad subject and make it interesting and respectful. As always, well done!
I do find these videos very relaxing, which is at times an odd juxtaposition when you’re learning the cause of death for dozens of people. I love to learn about their life’s work.
First piece of music I ever heard from him was "Gabriel's Oboe". Been listening to his music since then, and even though he's gone now, the legacy of Maestro Morricone will never be forgotten.
My favorite thing that I will take away from this video was the lovely surprise of Arthur Dark singing "Time to Say Goodbye" which was amazing! A real "Dark" hidden Gem!
There's Giuseppe!!! I've always wondered what the man looks like (I know I could have googled him but that would have been too easy).. Thank you once again Arthur for a most awesome Monday surprise!!
I haven’t lived in Italy in over 30 years now and seeing many familiar places has brought tears to my eyes and many memories. Thank you for this from the bottom of my heart!
Rest in Piece Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone. Great director and composer together make some of my favourite films produced. Great choice of actor for the good the bad and the ugly trilogy, Clint Eastwood.
I found your channel by accident about 2 months ago, I went right back to the beginning and watched 5hem all, your channel is one of the best on RU-vid, not only did 8 get to see graves of these famous people but also learn some history.......keep up the excellent work Arthur....Mary from Canada 🇨🇦
Sad that you couldn’t visit the Cappuccini Catacombs. They are truly something else. I loved this video a lot, can’t wait for part 2! Very curious to see more. Hugs from Italy 🇮🇹 ❤️
I'm very happy, when you showed Bud Spencer Grave 😭😇, he was a very fame actor in germany, even they named a Swimmingpool from him, i love it to watch his movies with his pal Terence Hill, they made a fantastic duo. Thank you Arthur Greets from 🇩🇪
Wow, Arthur, I am speechless. This episode of Hollywood Graveyard took my breath away. Anna Magnanni presented the Oscar for best actor in 1957 with Yul Bryner as the winner.
@@christineboyd4973 Hi Christine, thank you for your feed back, but the man you need to thank is Arthur, he is the man responsible to put together and bring to all of us the memories of those who lived to entertain us. Hollywood Graveyard is all nostalgia.
WOW what a tour this was. So many I forgotten about and a few I remember so well. Vincent Schiavelli I thought was laid to rest in California. Never would have thought of Italy. He was a great actor and appeared in so many great film's. Thank you for a grand tour de force
Ennio Morricone's score for John Carpenter's The Thing is one of the greatest ever written for a horror movie and showcased his amazing musical subtlety in a way that his more famous works had difficulty doing. Requiescat En Pace, Maestro!
I wasn’t able to make it to Caruso’s tomb when I was in Naples. I complement Mr. Dark on his research regarding Caruso’s body being on display long after his death. He was so beloved that people didn’t was him to be entombed; they still wanted to be able to see him. Mrs. Dorothy Caruso, an American, finally put a stop to that.
Caruso also made two silent films, My Cousin and A Splendid Romance. The latter was never released. My Cousin is available on RU-vid. I think he did more than hold his own against other silent actors. I wish a copy of A Splendid Romance would be found. It’s been a lifetime wish to visit his tomb. Time is running out, but it’s still on the bucket list. He is every tenor’s hero. I was enthralled with his voice at a young age.
Now I have that song stuck in my head! Volare` Oh oh! Wonderful video as usual, LOVED the views of the sea from that one cemetery. Lovely views everywhere.
Thank you for this! Vincent Schiavelli was a great actor and watched his cooking videos! Always wondered what happened to him! Great history lessons are shared here! You deserve a special Oscar for your documentary work for producing this fantastic body of work on your channel!!!!! God bless you!
As a italian american it brings me joy to see you exploring the graves of many famous Italians, especially names that many Italians still enjoy watching and listening to in our homes.
Anna Magnani was one of the greatest actresses I've ever seen for sure. Always brought so much emotional intensity to her roles. Love these extended Europe tour videos. Keep 'em coming.
Finalmente ! Grazie Arthur per essere venuto qui da noi 🇮🇹❤️ Volare, the most famous Modugno’s song, that round in all the world. Beautiful video 👏🏼 I hope one day you will come in Venice 🙋♀️ You’re Italian it’s soooo good 👏🏼
Just a recommendation: do ‘Ivy Hill Cemetery’ in Philadelphia, PA where you’d find Joni Sledge, Joe Frazier, Harold Melvin, Fayette Pinkney etc. & Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, MI where you’d find 3 of the 4 Tops, the Dodge Brothers (of Dodge Car fame), Aretha Franklin, Rosa Parks, the Ford (car) family, Proof, James Jamerson, & MANY other Motown artists; including the future resting place of Diana Ross.
Ennio Morricone also scored 1982's "The Thing", a John Carpenter classic. In fact a lot of the music he didn't use in The Thing, he used for The Hateful Eight
Mr DARK you are without a doubt the GREATEST!! My wife and I NEVER MISS ONE of YOUR MAGNIFICO VIDEOS!! GOD GAVE YOU A VERY SPECIAL GIFT AND YOU USE IT WISELY AND WITH SUCH EMOTION!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. So many talented people. I remember Alida Valle most from"Miracle of the Bells" with Frank Sinatra and Fred MacMurray. Excellent performance. Thank you for sharing this. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭
Having Tuscan and Sardinian ancestry, I was a big fan of spaghetti westerns as a kid. I spent many Saturday afternoons watching them. Anna Magnani was a tour de force, and even I could recognize it as a youngster. She was riveting. So many wonderful people who blessed us with their talents as actors, musicians and writers are laid to rest in Italy. Speaking of talent, you have a beautiful voice. Have you ever done a CD? If you ever do, be sure to include the song you briefly did in this video. I want to be your first customer.
Arthur - you are the "Rick Steves" of cemetery tours. In fact, Rick has visited a lot of cemeteries in his videos - but yours are the best - hands down !!
Arthur.. I'm being honest.. My mom who's 73 yrs old and only parent have moved to California in 03..I've watched you since 16 and Westwood cemetery I visited because of you and my mom loves you too.. Thank you for this.. I connect with my mom because of you
You outdo yourself in each video, Arthur. 👏🏻 I am always amazed how you curate these memorials, crypts, niches and graves. These Italian cemeteries must have been rapturous to tour!
I’ve always wanted to go to Italy. My mom’s family is Italian. One side of her family is from Sicily and the other side is from the Venice area. I have a grandfather named Giuseppe.
'The Godfather' has always been my favorite movie, as well as my favorite Playstation 2 video game. Nino Rota's music is very prominent in the game, including the love theme that is used as the main menu soundtrack. Riposare in pace, Nino. (Rest in peace, Nino.)
1st - I adore the HG music so it was nice to see its composer. 2nd - How lovely are those cemeteries? The monuments and the foliage just look so peaceful and inviting. I preferred the way these cemeteries looked compared to the acres of flat grass with flat headstones in America. 3rd - Thank you once again for making a beautiful tour for us.
Wow 😮 sooooooo breathtakingly beautiful!!!! I couldn’t imagine seeing these cemeteries, and Italy in person. Just gorgeous!!!! I would love to go out there one day. Thank you for sharing Arthur!
Thank you for showing the cemetery in Polizzi Generosa, Sicily. My family came from there and we all enjoy reading Vincent Schiavelli's wonderful book of recipes and stories called Bruculinu, America. I highly recommend it for the humorous stories and delicious recipes.
GREAT JOB!!! I was stationed in Sigonella, Sicily back in 1988. We had a great view of Mt. Etna. I spent a lot of time in Elephant Square and toured the catacombs many times! Brought back a lot of memories!!
As my Great Grandparents came from Italy, I was so happy you made a tour here and I have to say how beautiful it all was and how I envy you. I hope to one day visit Italy before I die but sadly probably won't happen but to see it here, I can't help but to smile at your wonderful tour and I love how the cemeteries here have photos of the people who passed on practically all the headstones. Can't wait to see part 2 and it was also wonderful to see Giuseppe again. Thank you Arthur for adding Italy to your tour.
Thanks for visiting Sicily, one of my favorite places. I agree Sicily has fantastic cemeteries. Too bad the catacombs in Palermo were closed. That is a truly unique place.
The notice of This latest effort arrived in the middle of a 🏈 game. That game immediately went on the back burner. As usual, superbly done & totally enjoyed; right down to that handsome cat that graced the closing credits! Looking forward to part 2!
It just does not get any better than this! Arthur Dark is a master of his craft. We are all blessed to be able to enjoy his work. Stay safe and be well.
I truly enjoyed this episode, especially being born and raised in Verona. A lot of who you showed are my childhood idols, Toto' being a true kegend! Sordi, Morricone, Modugno, makes me want to take another trip back home now! Just wanted to tell you how much I love these videos, there's a surreal atmosphere walking in a cemetery, any one, that most would find creepy and strange but I feel at peace and almost serene strolling through old names and admiring statues. Every video from you is a treat! Thank you again!
My heart just soared when you showed Nino Rota's resting place. The Godfather is one of my favorites! And in Italy too made me grin because my mom's side is Italian.
I'm a huge fan of Anna Magnani so it was interesting to learn more about her and her final resting place. Cemeteries hold much beauty and historic information. Love all your shows!
