Happy St. Patrick’s Day! While this is not a St. Patrick’s Day special, per se, many of the stars featured in this video are of Irish descent. Who are some of your favorite Irish stars?

Bob Hope bought me and our singer a drink in a Orlando hotel bar in the eighties and talked to me for our entire break. He seemed like great person and that is a night I will never forget.

A year after Bob Hope died I was working customer service for MCI. I took a call from the wife of a writer for Bob Hope. During our conversation, she told me he'd leave messages on her husband's voicemail trying out new jokes, which she now has the tapes safely secured. She also says he was not 100 years old, but 102. Back in the day when starting in show business several actors would fudge their age. Interesting tidbit.
@largol33t1
@largol33t1 Год назад
That tidbit about the age is very likely true. I've heard about some actors who did fudge the info on their birthdates to get roles in movies and shows. I bet it still happens today. I bet Bob finds it funny that HE got the last laugh and got away with having the wrong birthdate on his tombstone!

Fun story: I read scripts for production companies in the 1990’s. One day I was headed up an elevator on Wilshire Blvd in the Beverly Hills area. A man got in the elevator and I was SURE I knew his face but couldn’t place him for the life of me. As he got out it hit me. My face lit up when I realized who he was as he stepped out and said, “Got you.” It was Bob Hope. Genius.

Iam 45 years old and I love his music better than today's music god bless you Ritchie Valens may soul rest in peace sweet prince of rock and roll fly high to the angels and play for god and the angels in the heavens.

Ritchie Valens really has a beautiful gravemarker. It's sweet that he shares it with his mother, too. An incredible musician taken _waaay_ too soon. =( I'm curious if you've featured Yvette Vickers ("Attack of the Giant Leeches," "Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman" and "Hud"). She had one of the most depressing endings I can think of; being found in her house about a year _after_ she had died. =(

I remember watching the movie "La Bamba" when I was a kid. I was very surprised when my dad told me it was a true story. My uncle, who works in aviation, still blames the poor design of Buddy's plane for their deaths. If you watch the film, the plane had a distinctive V-shaped tail. It is dangerous as it sometimes couldn't produce adequate lift in flight and several crashes were blamed on the design. Plane companies did away with it shortly after. What my uncle told me only makes their deaths more tragic because I'll always wonder: could the tragedy have been prevented? The deaths of Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly saddened so many that it was forever known as "the day the music died."

My grandmother is also buried at the Mission; she was never famous, but she loved meeting celebrities and I think it would please her to know she was among such good company. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that William Frawley was buried here as well! I am a huge fan of I Love Lucy, and to think he was there all that time. I will have to pay him a visit next time I visit my Nana's grave. Thank you again for this informative piece of San Fernando history!

Another video very well done! Made my weekend! I wouldblikebto add that Clarence Nash was also the voice of Huey, Dewy and Louie as well as Figaro the cat in Pinocchio and the original voice of Daisy. Amazing guy! Also, William Bendex also played Chester A Riley on the Life of Riley Radio show before the tv show! Like most sitcoms of the era it began on radio and transferred into t.v. Another fact is the sitcom "Married with Children" is loosely based off of "The Life Of Riley" , although Peg's character is very different between the two, Al on "Married with Children" and Chester on "The Life Of Riley" are quite similar! "What a revolting development this is!" - Chester A Riley (William Bendex)

I'm sure my fellow 80s babies remember Quack Attack, the block of Donald Duck cartoons that aired in the early 90s. Oh no, I'm aware. It's unfortunate that Disney, Warner Bros. & many other cartoons of that era had pro-Nazi propaganda, racist cartoons (that were later banned) & other unsavory things. But we also have to remember the context of the time. Since then, all of those companies have renounced or apologized for those & never made those cartoons & films available for sale. Disney was also very progressive in his later years & the company now is very diverse & inclusive. I feel that we can look back & learn from these things & more forward being better. If we condemned & banned every person for having those views during that era, we'd have nothing to watch. Now just to be clear, my comment is not meant to condone or excuse those views because they are wrong but we also can't speak for their frame of mind back then.

Very nicely done! You fielded a lot of areas and gave a great example of each person in various forms of media from posters, sound clips, film and trivia! It's very nice and appreciated to see the care and respect you've given to these fine folks, who one way or another made us entertained! You've made them alive again (or introduced) to this audience and have made what every entertainer wants.. To be remembered! Thank you!

I dug it but the tripping down the stairs on the doll with it flying up in the air was kind of flubbed in the way they portrayed it. Poor KOJAK!

What an Eye-Opener! I knew about the San Fernando Mission Cemetery as I had been researching the life of Chuck Connors but, before seeing this Video I never knew that this is the resting place of so many individuals that have contributed to the Entertainment business. The names of so many are familiar and in one way or another have made their historical mark in society. Thanks for this Video

I loved Bob Hope so very much as he was a wonderful entertainer to our boys who were in the military. He brought so much compassion to people all around the world. Bob Hope performed at the Music Circus in Sacramento, CA and was so delighted to be in the audience to be able to see him. His autograph I do have and cherish it immensly. RIP Bob. (CA)

My mother told me she and my aunts and uncles went to school there when they had one there. She said the nuns were mean. I didn't know so many famous were interred here. I have a Bob Hope story you. March AFB in Riverside where I was stationed at for most of the 80's, it was the place where he started his first USO tour Their museum is stocked with many Bob Hope artifacts.

March AFB in Riverside- I was born there, 1949, on my mother's birthday- the base hospital bill was all of $10, I wish we still had quality health care like that for so little.

Bob Hope was the commencement speaker at my college graduation - Westminster Choir College in May 0f 1976. Having a comedian speak at the commencement service of a prominent music college was highly unusual, but he was very respectful and well received, of course.
