Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986) was an Anglo-American writer. His first novel is called 'All The Conspirators' of 1928.
Isherwood became friends with W.H. Auden, and together, they wrote three plays- The Dog Beneath the Skin of 1935, The Ascent of F6 of 1936 and On The Frontier of 1938. Isherwood was associated with the Auden Group and also a part of Macspaunday Poets.
He travelled between London and Berlin, particularly because of the sexual freedom Berlin offered to him. He is known today for his two collections of Novels under the title 'The Berlin Years' of 1945.
In 1946, Isherwood gave away his English citizenship and became a U.S. citizen. It was here that he got closely associated with the Vedanta Philosophy under his Guru, Swami Prabhavananda. His books, The Bhagavad Gita-The Song of God (1944 translation) and 'My Guru and his Disciple' of 1980 are milestones in Hindu philosophy today.
